People harp on the remake for her rudeness and cussing but it's a modern evolution to how she was originally written in RE3 where she would question authority and how people like Chief Irons or faceless corporations like Umbrella regularly fucked with people's lives. People think she was rude to Carlos only in the remake but she snaps at him and even slaps him in the original. She makes similarly snarky comments to Chris in RE5's Lost in Nightmares but it works because Chris can take it like a champ. There's a reason why she got Sarah Connor's outfit in REmake and it's not just out of sexiness. People don't like to bring this up because they've idealized Jill as some soft motherly waifu and Voth's likeness with her bedroom eyes only contributed to that projection. I still remember people way back complaining how Alice in the films essentially stole Jill's character role and that should tell you all about her. The cussing in the remake may seem excessive but the same could be said for Leon and Claire in the remakes who'd cuss/swear just as well, so you know it's just Capcom's modern sensibilities of dialogue writing.>CarlosThe flirty Mexican who likes to joke around, also was none the wiser when it came to his superior's treachery. Remake improved this by not making his flirting cringe but also gave more depth to his interactions with Jill depicting him as genuinely sympathetic to her hangups with Umbrella.>ChrisOriginally the rogue hotshot. He's a former Air Force pilot with a no-nonsense attitude and a rebel, which contrasts Wesker's slimy attitude as the leader of STARS who also comes across as a nerd (which fits since Wesker was also a scientist). Later entries like RE5 and especially RE6-8 would slowly lead him down the path of a disillusioned leader who could never seem to retire from fighting the good fight even though he really wants to.
