Just to answer anon's last point the advantage of distract is that it has a long range so you can safely attack from afar for cheap without getting too close, and it helps set up for other cats to finish the job if you can't kill
>>736499901The problem, as you will realize if you roll a backstabber Thief, is that you will frequently find yourself unable to backstab no matter how fast you are. Enemy layouts CONSTANTLY have them with their backs to either a wall or another enemy, and I’m pretty sure they’re programmed to put their backs to a wall at turn end, when possible.Distract makes it actually reasonable to backstab.
Justifying Distract is probably worse than justifying Grill
>>736500274w-what do i do with it?

In the meantime, we can expect an harpooner buff, a poison gas buff, a caltrops buff (?) a cha cha slide buff, and a general buff for tinkerer and forbidden spells.

>>736501251Distract is great in a backstab build. The problem is it’s a vital component to one and rarely worth taking otherwise. And the odds of getting backstab abilities/passives AND Distract start getting really slim.
I tried to improve apon this image by removing the + const - speed part
>>736501792You didn’t already figure that out from druid bird?
>>736501806No you should keep the -1 speed part because people need to learn to chew slower.
>>736501486I don't think caltrops is even weak, Thief just has so many good skills. Harpooner is one of those odd ones that's weak with Butcher's hook but broken on another class if you have a gun. Until you get to higher difficulties and then it's mediocre again because reflect.
>>736501251Distract is a good skill at any time.2 mana to deal +25% damage to an enemy until their next turn is great on its own.Sure, obviously sometimes you can backstab them without it (and without repositioning in a bad place), but that's less than half the time. And when that happens you can simply not spend the 2 mana.Better than any collarless spell at least, which is more than you can say about Grill.
>>736501862I got you
>>736501251In lategame when you're bursting down all enemies round 1 it's pretty good, they don't get the opportunity to move away from the walls or each other, so Distract is just a +25% damage boost against those guys. That's not even getting into backstab synergy. Grill is way worse.
>>736500749>the advantage of distract is that it has a long rangeSo it's less useful on characters that have high SPD and a large amount of movement abilities like thief does? Thief can just walk around an enemy, hit it, then use a movement spell to get safe (which movement spells are more versatile and worth the extra mana and are more deserving of a space). >it helps set up for other cats to finish the job if you can't killYeah let's just hope that enemy doesn't have a turn inbetween you and your teammates. >>736500990>Enemy layouts CONSTANTLY have them with their backs to either a wall or another enemy, and I’m pretty sure they’re programmed to put their backs to a wall at turn endGood point but I'm still not sure if that justifies itself. Most of my thiefs oneshot enemies with or without backstab, and I have been able to just use movement to get behind most bosses.
>>736501251Going back to my MTG comparison, Distract is for Spikes. It's a solid efficiency improvement when you're playing "optimally", ie. killing everything before they get a turn.
>>736501806>>736502031I made it look more like a steak
You know what really needs a balance pass? Damaging status effects. With like the one exception of Leech because Immortal Leeches exists. They’re only good for activating "on (statused) enemy" effects, they simply do not scale with everything else.
>>736501251Distract also helps against copbots and other enemies that have directional block, it's not really comparable to grill
having a losing streak of runs that feel like utter bullshit, and now hitler's coming
>>736501678Lord forbid people use /v/ to talk about video games.
Stand aside, Grill. Why in gods name is it DIAGONAL ONLY?
>>736501486>all forbidden spells will get a buffguarantee it still won't be enough. Nobody wants injuries when casting spells, and injury immunity options aren't available every run.

>>736503097>>736503230the most baffling to me are some of the Mage self-injure spells (that aren't classed as Forbidden), like Corrupt and Deal with the Devil - they are both complete garbage.>hurr durr permanently lower a random stat to get...15 mana!>...or +3 damage (temporarily lol)what the fuck was ed thinking???>S tier class according Edmund btw
>>736503365What about it? It’s arguably one of the less crippling disorders unless you’re self-hit.
>>736503093I've never taken this, but I'm assuming it to knock around dudes so you can enable those swap stance skills and still hit people.
steak status?
>>736503386I like both of those, honestly. An actual nice "break in case of emergency" case that has no real permanent downsdes. The problem is that, much like the forbidden spells, it's extremely weak to charm effects.

>>736500274
>>736503436I don't know why I always get it with thief just ruins the build forever
>>736503465>no real permanent downsdes???? You permanently lower a stat for a pitiful boost. Seriously, I just had a Mage run with Corrupt and it was a net loss to ever use it, especially once I got Latent Energy passive which made Corrupt laughably redundant
>>736503574Edmund should swap the effects of Latent Energy and Corrupt, unironically it would fix the former being obviously OP and the latter being garbage not worth the cost
>>736501862I would add +int because now you know
>>736503442If they’re not adjacent (which they can’t be, if diagonal) then you can already hit them with monk ranged. If it wasn’t diagonal only then yeah, it would be great to set up Combo Pulls and whatnot.
>>736503460(Chewing, chewing, chewing)
>>736503710Oh is that how it works? I thought you picked a target at range and the diagonals from that are what get knocked back. Didn't realize it was only diagonals from you.
Is there any reason to ever pick Math?
>>736503856low int builds
>>736503856if you have expensive skills that don't need to be cast multiple times
>>736503919oh wait i mixed this up with another skillnah it's kind of mddling
>>736503856There's two Math abilities.Math!, the Tinkerer active, is decent against bosses with large hp pools since they'll have more factors.Math?, the Fighter passive, is great on low int builds that won't be able to spam skills anyway.
>>736503778DOWN WITH THE DEVILDOWN WITH THE DEVIL
>>736503781Oh, shit, I’m stupid and didn’t notice that part.Awkwardly restrictive but theoretically useful, then.
>>736503995Math? is also good for loading up on expensive skills and being able to use them every turn. Like confront, Meteor Slam, one-two punch all in one turn.

>>736501570>>file for antsWorks on my machine. Outing yourself as a phonefag.
OH MANWHERE'S THAT LOVELY SMELL COMING FROM
I have never run a no-Int fighter and I probably never will. It’s a chicken and egg problem. You need the appropriate skills to even consider running one, because they’re a worthless cripple otherwise. So you collar cats with good stats. Which makes them poor fits for the dumbass build in the event that you are offered them.
>>736503856Yeah, I had a fighter with 6 int and took math? and every turn he would teleport + whatever skill he wanted. Was really great at teleporting in, hitting with his attack + skill + weapon and then just running away.
tips for Hitler house boss?
>>736504684Watch out for Pebbles. He keeps his instakill rock from the tutorial.
>>736504684Prepare for a long fight, don't bring cats that do electric damage.
>>736504649There's multiple disorders and items that reduce your int, you can set it up from the start even with good stat cats.
>>736504684Kill Marshmallow, Arthur and Alice ASAP
>>736504684Kill good. Don’t end your turn in his melee range.
>>736504684It sends robot versions of each cat class miniboss. You have max 2 enemy units on the ground at a time.So dont bring electricity or big AOE
>>736504684Good: thief ignore shield skills, cats that can buff themselves and scale over a long fight, some healingBad: electric element, once per battle stuff, wide aoeIt'll be a gauntlet, so focus more on winning the long fight. I don't think I've ever seen anyone have trouble with hitler himself after beating up all the cats, you get so much time to buff up.
