Honestly this things seems like a pretty good deal for them. If I am reading this right, they get 70% before recoup and steam as we know gets 30% of every sale. This means that 0% of the money goes to the devs until recoup is had. Since you decided to run away in fear from the very start the princess is antagonistic towards you and is one of the few princesses capable of crushing your will completely if you reach her in stage 3. The Tower and The Wilds being the other two but even when commanded by The Tower and subsumed by The Wild you are able to resist.

Scarlet Hallow is like how George Lucas works when given full control of a project: an end goal that everything must be forced down too, damn the flow, damn the quality.
