We were in that lovely halcyon era wherein the students were incredibly tech-literate while the teachers were not, and the only IT our school had was the janitor, and he liked us. So the 'class programs' folder never got touched.
Was also fun that there was just one computer hooked up to the projector for the computer room, so we could fuck with it ahead of class. Teachers ended up with nothing to show and we took the time goofing off instead.
This all is why i don't get the need for a typing class. It's like having a class to learn how to walk or to throw stuff or how to pull your punches when mock fighting - you just pick that up as you grow. We did, anyway.

Damn near everyone under 50 had a pc at home and a lot of things were digitized pretty early in the scope of the wider world. Warframe has a mechanic where every Guild has a guild hall instance which you can build rooms for and decorate, and the 4chan Guild Warbros had a rule, only the Guildmaster Killsaw can move the dog statue decoration.
Some random Russian guy touched the statue leading to basically the exact scenario brought up but its closer to 13 for him, and over the years has dragged down discussion quality to the point where the EU hours of the /vg/ general are just garbage most of the time. For me, the only reason to join a guild is if the game walls off parts of the game to large groups. If I can keep my mouth shut and not get baited into politics or drama, I can be a part of any guild. If they're not willing to respect my silence on their interpersonal drama or interpret my silence as disagreement with their politics, I quit and find a new guild. I'm not there to make friends, get into relationships or espouse my political or religious beliefs, I'm there because the game gated off some activities to large groups exclusively, and I want to experience those activities. I log in, I do my role in the activity, I don't get sucked into drama or politics and certainly don't let some idiot that I don't really care about or know from half the world away tell me what my schedule is going to be. I'm realistic about getting what I want out of the guild. If you really are looking for an online social group, good luck society sucks everywhere.

If you just type the same thing very fast over and over you'll get the muscle memory for the location of the keys. If you type "the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" enough times you'll learn the position of every letter and be able to move on from there

It's easily doable to learn touch-typing later in life, people switch from QWERTY to DVORAK and it only takes a few weeks to adjust

I thought most schools had a general computer knowledge class? I know kids get full computer access sooner than I did with laptops being a common requirement or given to kids now in like 4th grade.

When i went most kids still didn't know how to type in middle school and you would learn how to do that and general shit about files and excel.

I got suspended for deleting the Spyware they had to watch what kids were doing on the computer.

I was already on revoked computer privileges and i was blocked from web access. But they had blocked space cadet pinball for some reason. They gave me like 100 pages of screenshots of each step of the way of me going into the system files to delete the program. The lasr picture was at 99% which I found amusing. Of course I threw away all that paper before going home even though my dad specifically asked the school for it, he never said anything about not getting it.
