That pre-made team with looping synergy is so powerful, all other teams struggle.Now just take that exact same logic and apply it to different areas of the game, and that's essentially what's happening to star rail. Skill expression is dying in favor of powercreep and braindead units that sell better because they are trying to appeal to people who don't like turn-based gameplay to begin with, and just want to click auto to get the shinnies.

Even if we absolutely have to commit to an anime artstyle, I haven't seen a single design that's as compelling as that of any random character in No More Heroes or Danganronpa. Famously, Nasu told Harada (main artist for Disgaea) to design Beni Enma and literally the only guidance he gave was "She's a loli inn proprietress demon, you know what to do." and the result was perfect. Multiple of the artists, especially Choco with Melusine, treat the characters they designed as effectively their specialist babies, and a lot of designs truly feel like no one else could have come close - to cycle back to Danganronpa I genuinely don't think anyone but Rui could have designed The Count of Monte Cristo in FGO that way and it drives home his character unbelievably well.
