AI chads won. All game developers are already using AI.
>>

Doesnt matter, its not like i'm gonna pay for it. Just need spare pc to run the game with HPV.

These are the people that will be homeless once the masses can generate their own games with AI.
>>
NEETs and polshitters don't work in the industry so they are out of the loop but yeah every dev today is using AI.
>>
>>737536364
You'd have to be actually retarded to not use AI in game development these days. It's like using a horse and cart to transport cargo instead of a truck.
>>
>>737536647
Bit strange to say when those are the people that were the first to call it out
>>
>>737536364
Can confirm I've seen it used for administrative stuff so they can hire less lazy project coordinator type
>>
>>737536692
Call out that every dev is using AI? They were crying about companies that were using it but not aware that every single company was involved.
>>
>>737536364
Huh no wonder modern games are creatively bankrupt, absolute dogshit.
>>
>>737536630
what's stopping them from doing it now? Would that no longer stop them in the future?
>>
grok generate me a response explaining how much AI sucks
>>
>>737536364
Was obvious. Your boss doesn't need to tell you to use it, you'll just use it automatically. Who doesn't these days? Only retards
>>
>>737536364
All devs are using it.
I just manually wrote a bunch of classes for how different cards in a game should behave, I got feedback about a bunch of the numbers and effects.
I literally just gave the feedback to an AI to adjust it all because it's not difficult but cost me <$10c and saved an hour.

that's about the extent I use it though, I dont get why someone would want no control or insight into what they're making, but for "yak shaving" tasks then it's fine

99% of the devs who don't use AI coding tools are just making life harder for themselves. There are probably a few cases where using them isn't feasible, but an ordinary dev should just use the most efficient tools.
I just prompt all code these days and the quality is better than writing it myself as long as I debug and test it properly.

Pebbles and blades of grass? Like, okay fucking sure? All that was already procedurally generated now they're just spending more money having a fucking LLM do it instead of running purpose built tools. How is this actually beneficial for anyone except the data center companies?
>>

I will now buy your game, fellow brainlets

I'm not paying for the tokens, my company is
>>
>>737536364
Yes they vibecode games now, crimson desert is a clear example, they released a 37GB patch that completely broke the game.
>>
>>737538336
A lot of those platforms already burn through tokens like a motherfucker because of all the code that needs to be generate, you're essentially paying for two coders to do the job of one. At that point you may as well just fire >>737538246 and have the AI do all the code. If there's any security breaches? Just let the lawyers handle the lawsuits, that's their job.
>>
Pretty useless for any UE studio right now outside of art slop and tech art scripting stuff like maya plugins or import/export pipelines

what? how?

>>
>>737538414
The tokens are cheap as fuck and they still need someone taking the responsibility of developing the thing. Now I just do my job faster and with less effort, while it costs the company just a tiny bit more
>>
>>737536364
Ah yes, just what the AAA need, another budget-inflating money-sink!
>>
>>737536364
What people don't realize is they are replacing the busy work roles first, then localization next, instead of art and coding first like most people think.

I use AI to troubleshoot problems and write small automation scripts. It's great for that and it doesn't need much tokens.

To actually let it code entire applications or games for you is just asking for trouble though. It might work at first glance but once you slightly deviate from the norm the entire thing often shits itself. Which is good for the AI companies I guess because you can't easily troubleshoot that dumpsterfire yourself so you're forced to burn more tokens to make changes.

>hotfix also breaks the game more

For now. Most AI subscriptions are hideously undervauled for what they offer the user, once market capture begins it's quickly going to be "Either the AI or you" type situation.

>>737536630
ai will remain just a productivity multiplier for years, don’t worry. normies don’t got no skills nor the patience.

If it gets too expensive, I predict that all companies will fire people en masse, but you can't vibe code everything so things will go to shit when the remaining skeleton crews can't keep up with the workload.
Then local servers running models will eventually become cheap and extremely viable, so we'll see everything being returned to run on-site.

I don't think slop code will ever go away, but I don't think these giant data centers will stand up to progress with software and hardware in the end. They'll certainly try by penning exclusive contracts with hardware manufacturers but it won't last forever. We'll come out years later with better security, cheaper compute and more tech workers.
>>
What makes Claude so much better than the other AI models?
>>
>>737539105
From my experience it produces more accurate results. I've used other models and they've been quite ass and hallucinated a lot or just had old information. Claude seems to be the best based on what I've used by far and it even has more juiced up versions if you feel like Claude Sonnet is not enough.
>>
>>737536364
Don’t care about spaghetti AI code in games. I’ll never buy a game that contains obviously ai slop graphics or ai slop writing. If I can’t tell, I guess that’ll mean that the tech is ‚ready‘, but I haven’t seen anything of the sort yet.

Also AI being used in shipped games is by technicality that UE5 dev tools incorporate that stuff if you wanna use them or not.

How would that work? You cand have it connected to the internet, right? Would you need a fresh usb drive to transfer the files over every time to be 100% sure that you arent compromising your other computer or network? Im retarded, if you couldn't tell, so i genuinely dont know
>>
>>737536364
AI is good for coding and everything other under the hood stuff, all devs did before was copy shit from github anyway so that streamlines the process.
Art is a much harder hurdle to overcome, even with all its advances so far AI generated art assets and writing still have that uncanny valley feeling to them and I don't think that's ever going to go away no matter how much the tech advances and good it looks.
