Forspoken was not cheap to make. It was ruinously expensive. But this game was made at the height of the isekai craze! You could easily make THE isekai game about some Japanese high-school student ending up in a fantasy world, running around and blowing up monsters with his OP powers, and fucking a host of hot girls with some fade-to-black romance.
Isekai fans are slop enjoyers, something like this would have sold a hefty chunk along the lines of the Neptunia games.
But they didn't do that. It was like they went out of their way to make the game as UNATTRACTIVE as possible.
I'm just asking why. Everything in this game is deliberately, hideously ugly, when they could have populated it entirely with anime girls and had a Kirito-clone as the protagonist.
