I still think your camera needs a bit of work from the last time I saw this.
If you track the player on all movement it'll look jarring when making small movement adjustments for dodging.
Other platformers have the camera sway towards where the player's attention is at, for cave story for example it gradually pans ahead of where quote is after he's been moving in the same direction and passes the middle of the screen. And of course the stage itself sets the rails for where the camera is allowed to slide along.
Vertical is probably fine but it'll depend on how much you intend for dodging to be along that axis, as you don't want someone to lose sight of a hazard that's at ground level by having the camera pan up when they jump over it.
Camera is hard to get feeling right in almost all genres, only real suggestion I can make is to iterate.
