I don't like or support Palpatine, Tarkin or Vader, but most people in the Empire are just people trying to keep the galaxy safe and efficient. Maybe it's me being a post 9/11 Millennial, but my brain equates rebels to terrorists. I feel like most rebels aren't innocent people who minded their own business until the Empire murdered their family for literally no reason, but would be petty criminals, dumb college kids or other malcontents who arbitrarily hate the system because they got caught shoplifting when they were 12 and now scream "ACAB."
