The novelty of the original concept was that it was something the Foundation was actively trying to destroy instead of "Secure, Contain, and Protect"ing it.
In the early days this led to all kinds of wacky bullshit with people writing increasingly over-the-top and stupid ways the Foundation tried and failed to kill it (stuff like "Launched it into the Sun -> came back with wings and on fire").

The moderators have always been faggots. One of them was some retarded groomer who put his self insert in all his stories. Peak SCP was series III, series IV has some really good ones but was the beginning of the end. My favorite old SCP are 89 and "red sea object" (despite some cringe shit, it is a cool and interesting story) and my favorite overall is "humanity, refuted", which is just a simple, well done monster story with a really creepy image. I hate the pattern screamer stories, besides the original which is just alright, but a little up its own ass. I think a lot of later stories explain way too much with addendums, and some of the writing reminds me of when tumblr users try to be cool (like that famous "you can not kill me in a way that matters" mushroom post). They try to have these really punchy lines in them and it comes off as really forced and kind of Marvel-brained.

If you're reffer to the scp 01 clockwork god, I think that's actually one of the better 01 proposals. The concept is cool, the pictures are cool, there's (as far as I remember) no immersion breaking modern dialogue, and the story has a good pace.
