>>741463454
>of the Aedra
Not in the slightest. The Hist are, if anything, more aligned with the Daedra both in canon (where they have a "cousin" species in Oblivion and worship Sithis) and in Kirkbride/PTR lore (where they fight a war against the Jills and generally seem to hate Akatosh and linear time)
>>
>>741455059
do Narsis and Old Ebonheart run at 200+fps now?
>>
>>741463454
the project tamriel niggas already decided that's not the case at all in their lore and the most the hist can do to influence the world around them is sending the argonians visions through the sap, which they then must interpret, and changing shit about the environment the way real trees do

it's an understandable storytelling decision when you think about it since there's really not much room for conflict in black marsh if the hist can just fix anything by directly puppeteering argonians, and it clashes with the lore of the dunmer successfully cutting down all the hist in what is now southern morrowind and oblivion's portrayal of the hist
>>
>>741463813
Writing wise, Argonians who all just tree robots just isn't fun to actually interact with or write for, just about. So if you're going to DO Black Marsh, rather than just have it as an opponent or background element, you need to tamp down on the trees.

No, I posted that example of how flashy reptiles can naturally be, why wouldn't clothes develop in a similar way?
What you consider clown clothes would be very similar to colorful lizards, with spikes, frills, scales, etc.
>>
>>741463896
>who all just tree robots
That's not even the case anywhere beyond fanon. It's one of those things that get regurgitated endlessly by secondaries because TES lore discussion online is basically a giant never-ending game of telephone
Argonians should ideally be an actual people with an actual culture built to optimally defend the intelligent trees, not literal extensions of the sapient trees, because that's boring. Even in Kirkbride's vague blogposts, which is probably the closest Argonians ever get to being Hist puppets, they're described more as pathetic sycophants competing to please the Hist rather than non-sapient servant bots
>>
>>741460889
>>741464419
nta but the real issue with those Argonian clothes are simply that one, they're shit for living in a swamp, and two, the Argonians are primitive, semi-nomadic, and as a rule most don't know how to smith metal or process material beyond a primitive state. They wouldn't have the infrastructure or tools to make super fancy European or Persian court clothing, never mind how miserable it would be to wear that shit around.
>>
>>741464616
It looks like significant amounts of those clothes are made up of flowers, plants, and scales.
>>
>>741464616
The problem is, in Morrowind body customization isn't a thing at all and you quite simply can't have clothing that doesn't cover the entire torso due to how armor works, so they literally can't just have Argonians be primitive naked or half-naked ooga boogas unless you're willing to have them all look the same until you get close enough to look at their heads
>most don't know how to smith metal
Nah i don't think that's the case, in Morrowind Argonians wear metal rings and chainmail on their horns and frills as "hairstyles" and Argonian NPCs describe themselves as using steel to fight foreigners, and in Skyrim they are specifically shown and described as being good at making jewelry
I think PTR's plans are to have the Argonians be good at working soft metals like gold and silver because of the kothringi or something lol
>>

Trheads how do you guys rank the TR thieves guild questlines because I heard good things but I've been a little disappointed so far
>Bal Foyen
>starts off really strong with building the team and opening the hideout being generally fun things to do in rpgs, but it really subverted my expectations in a poor way
>your hideout is the most conspicuous building overlooking the entire city and visible from every angle, npcs constantly reference how they've thought the thieves guild was back as they've kept spotting people coming and going/lights on at the dwarven ruins, there's a quest to attempt to shakedown a guy for protection money and he tells us fuck off because we're too weak compared to the camonna tong (and we are, we have 5 members)
>when that quest started my interior rp brain was like I'd never want to do this when we're so weak and exposed, but you don't get that option you just have to confront the guy (this quest is probably entirely optional, but still) and tell him we're back in business and want to extort him. It just felt like something very stupid to do given the circumstances and there wasn't an alternative, so at that point I thought everything was setting up to us being massacred and that being the reveal
>what actually happens is nothing, the Ctang don't put up any kind of a fight and for some reason allow you to confront their leader alone in their own manor and the leader then just gives up for no reason and says we should make a deal. Very underwhelming and nonsensical
Then Almas Thirr
>it was good, setting up the Camonna tong for conflict with the Ordinators and sabotaging their operations was nice, the reward was nice, I liked it
For some reason I thought this was an Almas Thirr quest, but the one where you have to free the enslaves schooma alchemist from the Camonna Tong was a cool premise but the gameplay execution being
>bribe one guy and he (and everyone else) lets you walk this mafias biggest asset out the door
>>
>>741466467
fuck, what's the dunmer bitch who has the huge reuseable soulstone? Post porn of her.
>>
>>741467052
>Old Ebonheart
I'm not finished with this one yet but the zany writing and GOT reference I do not really appreciate. At the beginning when he gives you the codeword for the boat I figured right away that was stupid and some sort of setup so I wanted to get the ring or whatever through some other method but all you can do is talk to her and trigger the reveal - being captured in this way I don't think is good for an rpg quest. Reduces player agency and is way too cinematic and staged, to me, but whatever. The next issue I had was all the quests you start getting are fulfilled in either the building immediately adjacent to the questgiver, or two doors down. At least make me walk to the other side of the town, but no cpn fentus is right next to the bad guys, and the girl you need to relieve the debt of is one house away from her creditors gang headquarters. The nord you rob lives three doors down. I really found this stupid and I didn't notice it in any other questline I've done in any part of Morrowind so far.

I do still like these questlines because they're fine, it's Morrowind, but ya it's been somewhat disappointing.
>>
>>741467052
I crashed out of the Helnim Thieves Guild Quest (techincally firewatch) where you had to infiltrate the headquarters of the wasabi(?) merchants. 2 back to back 100 lock doors on a no magic thief is hell.
I think the thieves guild quests are probably their weakest honestly, partially because MW's stealth system sucks ass.

ya okay and this is my first attempt at a thief character and I'm using magical lockbreaking and stealth (though I did recently get my sneak skill pretty high from training) but the base stealth system of Morrowind sucking is a hindrance for sure. I found attempting to do the thieves guild quests pretty difficult on lower level characters, like the one in aldruhn the first quest you have to go to the vacant mages guild and open level 75 lock. With wild-open this is really easy but I didn't know about that spell then, and it feels weak to have only one specific spell from a school of magic and not actual thief skills be the only gameplay factor.

of course i could also buy one of those 100 lock spell scrolls, so this is a skill issue, but i did find it sort of weirdly hard to complete a lot of the thieves guild quests on low level. Stealth gameplay is like OKAY for thieving, but ya sitting in a spot around a pillar or directly in sight of someone and levitating their stuff around it's all lacking for sure, but I think they could still make better missions, and actually just going out on your own and trying to steal as much as possible is fun... but not as fun as it was in oblivion
>one of the very few wins oblivion has vs morrowind

actually you know what i take it back, having the early thieves guild faction quests be very difficult to complete without more game knowledge that someone just starting out could reasonably have is a good thing actually, it's kind of cool to me to think the quests being difficult to complete could make them feel a bit more obscure and technical than other major factions fits, to me, with a thieves guild faction

I have a question as a retard.
Why do a lot of guides advise 2 melee skills? Surely just taking one makes sense and maybe marksman or destruction for range.
>>
>>741467894
One consistent character trait of Uriel throughout the entire series is that he strongly believes in prophecy.
>>
>>741468271
I am also new to the game but my impression was that actually optimal builds meant not taking any of the skills you actually want to use as majors or minors so maybe the guides are just recommending a few options for flavour or flexibility. I can't think of a point in specializing in two, but if you want to play a pure martial class, there aren't even that many skills that are useful that you can pick really, and from a roleplay perspective it makes a lot of sense your character would be familiar with different types of weapons to varying degrees

I thought you said guild for a second. There's no reason to have multiple weapon types iirc there isn't even a slash vs blunt damage type system. You don't need to game the level up mechanics either, so you should pick your chosen weapon as a major to level it up faster and actually hit things.
>>
>>741469145
I made an imperial cult pacifist that used both calm (when I played on OpenMW, 1pt was enough to pacify anything) and damage strength spells (permanently immobilizes enemies) to kill as little as possible. Damage strength was for creatures. The calm setup on humanoids involves hitting them with calm, then running up and spamming Intimidate on them, which permanently lowers their fight score. This makes it so they're permanently non-hostile, though their disposition will be low. Sadly, there was barely any secret dialog aside from that one vampire that's secretly a master trainer for some skill.

Another one I did was making a custom bound spell that summoned a full suit of armor and spear for 20-30 seconds, and then I'd just run around in normal clothing. Since my encumbrance was near zero, I had maximum move speed and spears have extra range so you can kite anything. I never run heavy anything on Morrowind because the entire game involves walking around so you don't want to be even slower.

Argonians already wear normal human clothes in universe.

Then why did they do bruma anyway?
Also you'd think they'd have seen the runaway success of TR from its structure and try to pivot. The fairly regular TR releases has invigorated MW discussion and community in a way a lot of mods dream of, it's its own little world. Granted, it's a bigger fish in a smaller pond of MW modding vs Skyrim but still, new lands are pretty rare in skyrim even today and another small chunk would go a long way.

>>
>>741454294
Same. Scalie fags are the worst.
>>
>>741476949
In Morrowind I'm pretty sure it's meant to be metaphorical, sort of a "Nerevar is alike to Boethiah in spirit/takes Boethiah's lessons to heart because of the strife he threw himself into and the plots he enacted. Boethiah is cast as the divine prince of the Dunmer and Nerevar became this in literal material fact." deal, but ESO treats it as literal.

There's a theory that Azura, being the prince of prophecy, knew they'd do this all along and actually utilized their treachery on purpose to buff Nerevar even further as the Nerevarine.

>>
>>741483249
Closest we have to an official depiction of The Agent is the hooded brown hair dude in pic related, and retroactive general principles show the 'marketing protagonist' shares race with whatever province the game takes place in ie Dunmer Nerevarine, Imperial Hero of Kvatch, Nord Dragonborn. So The Agent would be a Breton.
>inb4 the Iliac Bay has Hammerfell too
The game's called Daggerfall. You will spend 90% of the plot around Daggerfall, Wayrest and Direnni Tower.
>>
>>741484006
I see, i remember some shit pointibng at the High Elf guy running thing after the king's death in Ovlivion possibly being The Agent, but i was likely misremembering heavily, i havn't played Oblivion in like 5 years after all.
>>
>>741484273
Some people like to headcanon that Arena's protagonist is Chancellor Ocato because TES1 ends with the Emperor going "from this day forward you'll be by my side" then he's utterly forgotten about by the sequels. Meanwhile the Ming the Merciless looking dude from Daggerfall's intro, next to the Emperor, is Ocato who then reappeared as an Altmer in Oblivion.
>>
>>741484503
I see that makes a lot of sense, thank you.

>I have no idea what went on in their heads to think that was a good decision
Overconfidence. Keep in mind the decision was made by the original team back in like 2013/14, those dudes are loooong gone. Same way Rebelzize, Skyblivion's lead, said in a recent stream that he was a retarded teenager when he started the project and he really didn't know just how long something like this would take.

So some 17 year olds back when Skyrim was only a couple years old itself thought it'd be totally cool and radical if they made a mod that recreated other provinces inside Skyrim, and because they're totally cool and radical they'd put the work in and do the *entire* province! Fastforward a decade+ and only in the last couple years have the teams realized that was a huge fucking mistake. Far as I know, Roscrea and Cyrodiil will release the whole thing, the former because it's small enough (an island sorta like Sosltheim) and the latter because it's the closest to the finish line (still not coming out before 2028 as per the devs themselves). Then other projects are starting to look into the idea of releasing in chunks, Tamriel Rebuilt style, starting with the Bruma style pre-releases (Three Kingdoms for Iliac Bay, The New North for Morrowind). Still, don't expect it anytime soon, and that's hoping their tranny Discord politics don't bleed into the writing or setting (as in, as far as I know the Morrowind team has literal trannies as devs).

It's just my luck that the coolest project, compared with the remaking of games that already exist and can be played, is the one stuck in dev hell for a fucking decade. Fuck me.

Funniest thing is how they somehow never learned. You sleep in the Seyda Neen basement and a Dark Brotherhood assassin attacks you. You're leaving the Imperial Prison sewers and a dozen ancestors magically gift you the deed to a dozen different homes, and the Anvil chapel is immediately destroyed. Every Skyrim guard has heard they're reforming the Dawnguard, and five minutes after killing your first dragon Miraak sends cultists against you. Bethesda is so afraid of players having to work for their content that they trigger every expansion, even the ones that narratively should be epilogues like Dragonborn, when you're level 10.

Even peasants wore as much color and pomp as they could during the middle ages. Basically the entirety of human history is full of weird colorful "clownsuit" clothing in just about every culture around the world. Minimalism and lack of color or patterns is a very modern phenomenon and is largely a result of industrialization and mass-produced clothing in a global market. It makes no sense for the people of tamriel to dress in generic hollywood peasant uniform.

Depends on the people. Dunmer wouldn't care one bit. Argonians quite obviously would not be very happy about that. Bosmer outside of Valenwood would pretend to be offended, while Bosmer inside Valenwood would want ones of their own. Most of the man races would assume you're a daedra worshipper or something just as horrid in order to not only access but wear something like that openly. Orcs would think you're being an effeminate sissy by obsessing so much over fashion that isn't made with practical use in mind, and would bully you for trying to flaunt your boots.

TES, compared to most games, actually has a big female playerbase. Danae and Lady Nerevar come to mind, as relatively big names in the community, and unless they're like OG 90s/00s trannies (which is extremely unlikely), they're actual women. Tiny Plesiosaur, one of the TR devs, is a tranny, though. I'm assuming so based on the flag in their Discord profile picture.

The funny part is that peasants normally wore these sorta bright (but washed out) colors, because having deep, dark colors (beyond blacks) typically required more dye or more expensive dye. Mudcore dark clothing just was not a common thing because dark clothing was more expensive.

Nords don't have an organized religion, religion for them is very personal. HOW you worship doesn't mean anything, WHO you worship might get you disrespect but there's no laws saying "Yucky that's not in the Nord pantheon!" Recall that they despise Arkay and consider him as bad as Malacath and Mora.
>Hircine
Despite how it seems, Nords aren't into the savage nature/hunter god. Their nature and hunter deity is Kyne.
>Malacath
He's one of the Testing Gods. He gets worship of a sort but he's considered an enemy/negative force.

the issue is that you don't like that particular artists' artstyle
it's not even unique to them, i recently came across a piece of art done by MK himself of Alessia, and he depicted her wearing a robe that looks nigh identical to the stuff the dunmer wear in TES III. it was a funny sight since it made me realize that the "morrowind/dunmer aesthetic" is to an extent just kirkbride's artstyle that he pictured everybody as having lol
>>
>>741509851
To be fair the general push with Alessia and early Imperials in general seems to be very "tribal jungle Minoans". Alessia as priest-empress of a people like that would indeed wear weird robes or skirts, lots of jewerly, be covered in religious tattoos, and ornamental hairdresses. Do better than just giving them gay fashion then? This trope only works for 1 or 2 provinces, then it starts becoming a trope. Atleast Cyrodill and Morrowind have a bunch old shit to work off of.

Lol no, not in the fucking slightest, by any stretch of the imagination. ESO's Argonians are generic. Their "armor" is the same blocky brown leather bullshit with shitty metal bits on it everybody else in ESO wears but with a vague Aztec flair, their clothing is what retards think aztec clothing was like and their architecture is the either generic huts or just fucking mesoamerican ruins. Sounds to me like you just don't like when fantasy uses a color pallette that doesn't consist of brown and grey.

Yeah, oldhammer slann minis are basically the only time in the history of the fantasy genre that the actual aztec/Mesoamerican aesthetics were used instead of naked jungle tribesmen in gray pyramids.

On a side note, i actually like to read about mesoamerican stuff as a hobby of sorts and it's precisely why I despise the pop culture "mayincatec" aesthetic, like ESO's Argonians. It looks like shit and it's not a good representation of these cultures in the slightest. I just shake my head in disapproval whenever anyone says that shit looks good.

>>
>>741507198
Objectively untrue. ESO had the Argonians be not-aztecs because the people who made that game are incapable of not sticking to tropes, not because it made sense given what we know about Argonian culture. Same reason they gave the Bosmer tree monsters and a blatant Orion/Ariel rip-off in the form of giving the Silvenar a female counterpart, because they felt like they needed to conform to how other fantasy properties do things.
Tell me, why would the race of aquatic lizards whose culture venerates roots and eggs above everything else have a material culture that revolves around the famously blocky, stiff "pixelated" Mesoamerican style instead of y'know, root patterns and stuff like that?
>>
>>741513540
It implies there was a Dragonbreak in the area, and they're already canonizing several endings happening at the same time (Manny the Marco, Underking, Orsinium). The project at large is also already using Oblivion things like the Ayleid ruins aesthetic and not!Grey Fox. Unlike plenty of other things added with Oblivion, I don't know of a single person that dislikes the Warp in the West as a bit of lore. To not use it but only kind of because half of it they do canonize and the other half replaced with their fanfic, you must admit, is pretty damn odd comparatively.
>>
>>741513772
No, they're primarily having him be the task manager god. There's an entire book series called the Peryiton that's just one of those goetia demonology books. That being said, they're not canning the pestilence aspect altogether since that does originate from Daggerfall whether you like it or not
>>
>>741513894
They are doing the Warp in the West, just not the Miracle of Peace. There was a Dragon Break, everybody did get their own Numidium, but the bit about every other kingdom of the Iliac Bay except the for the main four being gone isn't happening.
>>
>This fantasy race culture needs to be based on irl shit
Why? Are today's artists incapable of creating a completely fantastical culture?
>>
>>741514057
The pestilence is fine. He unleashes diseases to restore the natural order and kill off people that wouldn't die otherwise. There's a reason his artifact nullifies magic. Skyrim makes him not-Nurgle, all of his followers are diseased freaks and that's the stupidest shit.
>>
>>741513894
Not to mention the Warp was written by Ted Peterson, who also worked on Daggerfall and Morrowind.

People just enjoy correlating fantasy races with real life and all the banter and knowledge showing off that comes with it, there's a reason half of all TES discussion online is just retards guessing which real life cultures directly correlate to each playable elder scrolls race, despite the fact they barely know anything about TES or real life history. Hell it's not even a TES-exclusive thing, I've seen people do it to Lord of the fucking Rings of all things.
>Are today's artists incapable of creating a completely fantastical culture?
This is a factor too though. Did you know ESO gave them the Khajiit some indian/south asian elements? I know exactly how that decision was made: the artists saw some people on plebbit talk about how the Khajiit are LITERALLY gypsies (they've never played a TES game that wasn't Skyrim), they did some googling and discovered that gypsies actually come from India and voila, the cat people are now just fantasy jeets.
>>
>>741514454
And yet instead of providing palliative care, building hospitals, etc, they just puke all over the place and poison wells because that's what Nurgle worshippers in Warhammer do. I'm not opposed to some of his worshipers being the very people he wants dead, I'm opposed to it being a transparent, 1:1 knockoff of something from another piece of media, and not even a good one at that.
>>
>>741514378
No, the Warp in the West were the time distortions that happened in the Iliac Bay as a result of the Numidium's activation, including all the death and destruction that happened because of it, something that obviously wasn't very miraculous or peaceful. The Miracle of Peace is one specific aspect of it, the idea that, from the perspective of everybody else in Tamriel, the dozens of petty kingdoms of the Iliac Bay all suddenly decided to stop squabbling and become 4 big kingdoms instead, which was indeed not directly stated to be the case until Oblivion, thus making it optional for Project Tamriel. PTR isn't doing it because they feel it's more interesting for High Rock to have dozens of petty kingdoms, and iirc their lore to why the Miracle of Peace didn't happen is the Underking using his Numidium to largely undo everybody else's use of it or something to that effect.

Yes. Morrowind only ever alludes to it being a Dragonbreak. It's Oblivion which both refers to the incident for the first time as The Warp in the West, as well as in the same bloody book states that the "Imperial proclamations and Chapel declarations identify this period as the 'Miracle of Peace' " then in the next page has pic related. Different, Imperial centric name for the same event. The Warp in the West, also known as the Miracle of Peace.
>>
>>741514167
The problem is that in their Warp the Numidium legitimately didn't do anything for Wayrest or Daggerfall, whereas it worked normal for everyone else.

That aside though the weirdness is its greatest strength. Part of what made Morrowind such a cult classic is how alien it is. its not weird you fucking normgroid. real life cultures are 50x "weirder" than anything most fantasy games come up with. even ancient myths that are the pillars of civilization such as the greco-romans, mesopotamians and the chinese have bathshit insane lore.
>>
>>741521381
Cool but it will look like shit in game. They should go with designs that can be actually used.

Extremely familiar cultures like the British and the Dutch used to dress up like this on holidays back in the Middle Ages. Dressing up as a shaggy beast and hooting and hollering was the height of comedy at the time.

this would be awesome for berserkers who are not concerned with practicality and are drunk on ritual, yes. i feel like you people underrate humanity so much for some reason. humans alone are weird. why should a fantasy world, which you would imagine would want to be imaginative, be so sanitized?

Morrowind is sad to me because it has so many flaws and limitations and it's still the best open world 1st person rpg ever. It really shows how we stopped progressing and actually regressed that it's been decades and noone has improved on it. More decades will come with noone improving on it.

What do anti morrowind spergs even get out of these threads that they're here all the time? can the normies in the thread explain why you want everything, including humanity, to be a monotounous, colourless blob of nothing? that there is no organic movement, experience and development of culture throughout time and space? nothing can be idiosyncratic or stand out from king arthur and leather armor? humanity should just be nothing to you? why?

Autism. There's one guy who claims to hate the game because he lost an argument on the official forum twenty years ago, but for most people here it's a lot of "Stop liking what I don't like" from people who grew up with Skyrim and can't handle other people's opinions and them preferring the earlier game.

i remember reading that article where he said all that disparaging shit about morrowind. it felt like the blizzard "you think you do but you dont" all over again. so tone deaf and out of touch with the pulse of culture. morrowind is bigger than EVER and people really desire something like morrowind. people dont just appear out of nowhere to start modding a 25 year old game more than ever for no reason

the interview was extremely bizarre, especially when he starts not subtly bashing Todd. I might be crazy but I do think Todd is in a 'sold his soul' position where he's basically a rich hostage now. You can't worship God and also worship money, and something truly engaging and beautiful comes from some type of devotion to God.
>>
>>741522619
If you really look into his interviews he seems genuinely soulless. No love for anything, no passion, existing only to dampen the creativity of others. He's one of those people that's so retarded that after some point it becomes evil how retarded he is.

Apparently they're going to put it in Hammerfell as, I don't know, some random Nede weapon? Which is an incredibly lame backstory for a weapon comparatively and I'm going to be honest, I care about Hammerfell the least of any province. It's just such a downgrade to make Nerevar's axe some Nord-looking shit, I don't care if you want to argue he got it when he beat their ass along with his dad Moraelyn or whatever, it's not what I want out of a DUNMER weapon.
>>

I believe there is no canon neravarine , your player character is a potential nerevarine and may become one but this is a "per save file" occurrence
>>
>>741523454
I think they would put askenhost in the western side of skyrim but in what is considered hammerfell, since hammerfell also includes a ton of mountainous regions on the eastern side. Like how dragonstar is half hammer half skyrim. I think that's fair. The nerevar's axe is currently pretty cool, shame if they change it.

they don't. men in drag are not women anon. I'm Canadian and this is the sc2 player I like to root for (the original foreign hope) or did back when I cared about sc2... but not a woman. No woman anywhere ever of all time has won a serious videogame tournament. No evos, no dreamhacks. Not in China, not in Korea, not in Japan, not in Poland, not in Russia, not in America. You don't need to pretend there's no difference profile in interests, it's likely beneath you to do so.

my sister had some fun with oblivion when I showed it to her, she liked stealing stuff in the imperial city and bought a player house and put all the shit she stole in it. Women play videogames but what you're describing is an extreme outlier. I work in a field that's 98% women There are reasons for these things, and what you're describing is drastically male.
>>
>>741525995
Not in the same way men do, no

whatever anecdote you come up with can't replace the obvious statistical realities anyone can observe. my workplace is 21 women and me. I'm spending my saturday like a complete unwashed slob playing morrowind and talking about it on 4chan. None of them are doing anything like that. I promise you.
