I have an idea for a fan game centered around being handed a legend/special snowflake pokemon early game, maybe after 1st or 2nd gym, and using them changes the story. At first you get praise and awe for having such a powerful Pokemon, but then as the game progresses and if you continue to mainly use the legend your own starter may start to act distant, you'll get character dialog acknowledging a change in your eyes or aura (not in an evil way but in a weird narrow focused way). Around the 8th gym the legend leaves for plot and it makes you pick up the pieces of your team with what you have left to carry on.
