Cloud got roped into it by a general and suddenly the entire party magically appears disguised as sailors and soldiers in the ship? Why? Well then it must be just me, but i do not enjoy a 30 hour long game in which I don't know what i'm doing, or what is going on, or where i'm going, all so the plot is explained in either the last 5 minute cutscenes or in a 20 minute long video essay.

I had checked the mod out at the beginning when the guards schizo some Loveless ticket conversations that i had to go to fucking r*ddit to ask what that conversation was about only to find out the translators got confused and thought "Sempai" was referring to Cloud instead of to the other general which is why that entire conversation made no sense.

And while that retranslation mod seems to make some dialogue more clear, it still doesn't help much and now i can't understand now even half of Cait Sith scottish written accent.

You didn't have to, it's optional at this point. Scarlet goes there to get Huge Materia but there isn't anything there besides a summoning materia.
If you DO go there, you get backstory on the Turks, hints at the upcoming Huge Materia quests, and (if you bring Tifa and/or Aeris with you) you get to learn about Zack and see their awkward reactions to having to explain Zack to Cloud.

Cloud having to participate in a parade as a soldier to infiltrate a ship is never explained, it just randomly happens and the party randomly joins and it's very jarring.

Remake was better than Rebirth and I'm tired of pretending it isn't just because dripfeed content crackfiends had more of their itch scratched. Remake levels might not be anything close to a masterclass of depth or complexity but at least they're adequately woven and intersected paths with objectives to complete that add a touch of variable sequence for flavor; all the dungeon content in Rebirth is a straight line that forks to a bay then cuts back to the main path anyway, with goals that are nothing but following the on-screen prompt to press triangle by one thing and move it next to another thing (all of which is explicitly dictated to you by fourth-wall breaking text that pop-ups as soon as you encounter an environmental fixture). Shinra Manor in particular was a genuine feat of butchering, it sucked so much ass. And at least the world of Remake is suitably expanded and interconnected between the start and finish.

The best I can say of Rebirth to speak to its merits as a game distinct from Remake is that the open world stuff is good, "for open world." Meaning it has a lower standard to live up to due to sandboxes being the habitat for slop-fed normies where you're encouraged to dial your brain down to stream-of-consciousness and "just like play for the journey man" actively suppressing your ability or inclination toward critical thought that might inhibit your efficiency at checking off in-game chorelists. I can at least say that Rebirth was ballsy enough to implement some real barriers to its exploration that can require a little problem-solving, but then retards are constantly complaining about Gongaga (which was good actually), so who knows if that gets dumbed down even more for Revelation.

The two guards have a funny dynamic. One is a new recruit and the other is a veteran. The veteran keeps wanting the new recruit to be meaner. When the plate is about to fall you are worried all the NPCs are just fucking around instead of leaving. One of the guards acknowledges your kindness for caring.
Remake expanded this scene with Wedge convincing the new recruit to open the gates to let more people escape.

Barret Wallace grew up in a mining town, North Corel. Its function in human society was to mine the power resource known as "coal." Barret became a "coal miner" from North Corel. It was a hard life, and he wanted things to be easier, though he did find validation in his actions. He knew his job hurt the Planet, but it was ultimately worth it and he felt he earned it. In fact, he didn't earn enough!

Shin-Ra, a "make reactor" power company offered to pay the residents of North Corel huge sums of money in order to use their land to change from "mining" coal to extracting "mako." Most of the town enjoyed the idea of "easy profits," including Barret, but some of the town believed Shin-Ra was both lying to them about the benefits and was an evil company that was only going to make their lives worse (specifically, Barret's best friend, a man named Dyne).

Dyne was right. Shin-Ra lied to them. Shin-Ra didn't "pay the residents of North Corel" and make their lives easier. Shin-Ra murdered nearly everyone. Barret was fooled, and every one he loved was killed... and his ignorance facilitated all their deaths. He held himself accountable, and he hated Shin-Ra for their criminal deeds. He adopted Dyne's daughter, Marlene, and fled Shin-Ra to find a home and build plans for revenge.

Barret Wallace had a life-crisis; his ignorance and self-entitlement caused the death of everyone around him. His life became pointless and his actions became unwillingly crippling (i.e. the metaphor of his "crippled" right arm?). He used his experience as a miner to build a terrorist group, and he used his hatred for Shin-Ra as motivation to fund its actions. He recognizes his value, and Shin-Ra undermines the Planet and himself. He'll kill them for it.

Also, he's a reference to Mr. T's character from "The A-Team" named "B.A. Baracus."

Stranger of paradise was very very good but the story was the worst shit i've ever seen, super fun gameplay tho.
Every other spin off has been complete garbage, had to drop Four Heroes of Light due to how boring it was. Mystic Quest forced myself to finish, boooring. Tactics Advance and Tactics Advance 2 boooooring, i hate tactics games holy shit they are so slow, having to wait for EVERY SINGLE ENEMY TURN fuck that. Played the wii ones life as king life as darklord, awful.

So far spin offs have been a disappointment save for Strangers which had best gameplay.

Yes because it's within their characters to do so. Trailing Sephiroth is important but it's not so pressing that they won't indulge a rest period on the way. Hence chilling out at Costa Del Sol, spending a day at the Saucer, learning about the Planet with Bugenhagen, or indulging a date later in the game. It's not FF13 where they're laser focused on one thing... is what I would say. But even in a game criticized for being overly linear, they'll still take a small sabbatical at Nautilus. FFX is a literal death march of a pilgrimage and the cast will still take rest breaks where they can find them

Another incidental point; Cloud and his party are following after where Sephiroth is drawing them almost like, as Hojo implies, he's being "called" towards him. A sort of "calling." Cloud can "hear" where, as you literally state, "it's so important to catch up" because he's almost like some hypnotized creature being "called" to follow. Like many other tattoo zombie-like freaks who seem to "hear" Sephiroth and follow with great urgency and importance.

It mostly has to do with how words are presented and what players would typically think they mean. For example the word "clone" implies a genetic copy made in a lab. But the Sephiroth clones aren't literal clones. They're clones through circumstance aka regular people injected with the same type of cells Sephiroth had. After all you can't keep cucking Vincent until you get an army of Sephiroths, that just takes too much time. But if you take the word "clone" at face value then you might believe Cloud was made in a petri dish or something.

I always had the impression the game purposely used the word clone and wanted the player to believe that Cloud was made in a petri dish. The entire game is spent systemically dehumanizing Cloud until control is finally taken from the player at all when he becomes an extension of Sephiroth. The player isn't supposed to get what or who Cloud is until it's shown in Mideel. Even if the exact definition of the word clone and its meaning in the world is ambiguous, how does it change the context of the story? I don't feel like it does.
