So I finally played chapter 5 after hearing how shit was and it was honestly, fine. With how people were going on about NTR I expected the entire festival to just be Noelle and Susie flirting while Kris cried like a cuck, but it was not that bad since you can avoid most of it (The beach scene is ass though). That being said, Noelle and Susie's interactions are terrible, the dark world doesn't really progress the plot that much, the festival was a nothing burger, and the writing was worse than it normally was. The gameplay was fun though and the music was good. Also I get that Toby wanted to make you feel bad over taking away the flowers dark world, but that fell flat since you didn't spend a whole lot of time with them. Toby clearly knew that too, with him including the 'break' chats to try and make you care about them more, but he should have just paced the chapter better. It was also disappointing that the weird route didn't have a whole lot to it like chapter 4's, rather than being more like chapter 2. I do wonder if Toby regrets making chapter 2's snowgrave route, since that set the bar so high that no other chapter has even come close to meeting. The dark shard boss was also a let down, especially since supposedly that's the final one.I think Toby should have waited to release this chapter with 6, since a lot of the same complaints for this chapter was the same for 3: The gameplay is more ambitious, fuck all happens until the end, and it's mostly not serious; though 3 was paired with a serious chapter that some people liked after hating 3, making them leave with a more positive opinion. 5 does not have that.Toby needs to stop writing romance though, he sucks ass at it. Characters shouldn't lose their personality other than obsessing over their partner, and he's been doing this shit since UT, which was a fucking decade ago.
