It's really a joke to see politicians introducing Trojan horses law like this while doing actually NOTHING for those they pretend to care about. These laws only use are to control people, ALL people.

I have thought a lot about lately why now and why like this.

It's clearly coordinated by western countries, no matter if leftwing or rightwing is ruling right now, which to me implies they are doing it because of something they know and we the normal people do not.

My personal theory is they have completely and utterly lost control over the internet, everything is bots from top to bottom.
Bot traffic, bot commenters, bot watchers, bot social media, bots talking to bots
In their eyes the only way to stop this is to ensure only humans have a marker that shows they are a legitimate internet user.

I acknowledge this solution would work but i am asbolutely not willing to give up my privacy nor give big tech even more power

All of that and they're still trying to force it down our throats. Why do you think that is? Recognize what part of their game you're in. Make your peace w/ that and decide what YOU are willing to do about it.
BTW, If you think the manufactured hardware shortages aren't also part of this playbook, you're retarded. Ditto data centers and the rest of it. It's about as subtle as their 2020 push.

Anon, are you stupid? These "safety" bills basically state that you must always assume a user is under 18. The only way to verify they're over 18 is to provide a credit card or government ID, and do AI facial scans. They claim that none of that information ever leaves your device, yet the same legislation also demands the company keep a record of it for LEOs. They 100% store your ID even when they try and claim they don't. And of course, they sell said data. Their entire business model is built around making a digital profile/digital ID of you. They'll know every twitter shitpost account you have, every porn account you have, every game account you have, every single thing. You'll need ID to use the internet by default, thus you'll be digitally tracked every second you're online with no anonymity.

I don't know what will be worse
For those who used the internet 15-20, or even 30 years ago, who knew how different it used to be. Who will always remember in their memory of a time that will never be back.
or for the new generations who will NEVER know how things used to be, they only will be told but never lives it. because I can't see things returning the way they were with all these laws incoming. At least in most places.

It's almost like 1. it's a collective problem, not an individual one, and 2. however real the problem is, it's not their true motivation. Watch as you selectively focus on only one of those points because you're not mentally ready to hold two truths in equal regard.

Yes, and the problem is that collectively, most parents aren't worth shit.

it's more worrysome that every service that has an account "should have known" someone was under 18 or not, meaning mandating ID verification broadly.

this bill will cause innocent citizens suspected of no crimes to be surveilled closer than a cartel kingpin without any judge ever signing a warrant. it's the death of every citizen's basic civil rights.

So here's how laws work

>1. someone in a committee proposes a bill, literally anyone can do this at any time, requires no skill
>2. The committee has to agree on the bill to go to a vote to the house/senate, this requires work getting like a dozen people to vote in favor of it
>3. Goes to House/Senate, here you have to actually get a couple hundred people to pass it, assuming no one does some retarded shenanigans like tack on shitty riders, filabuster, or take an extended vacation
>4. If it passes the house or senate, the other one has to pass the same bill, but they can make alterations on the bill and pass it in their own group
>5. If the two versions of the bill are different the two have to agree on settling the differences so it's one single bill
>6. Then the president has to sign it, if he vetoes it and it didn't pass like 99-1 then you're fucked
>7. Then you have to hope the supreme court at some juncture doesn't look at your bill and decide it's unconstitutional

supreme court doesn't give a shit, when this issue came up in 2004 with COPA the supreme court ruled that burdening adult's access to content protected under free speech is unconstitutional, when texas did their age verification law recently, the supreme court had a change of heart, they decided that it's not that big of a deal to add some burden to your right to free speech as an adult.

That's tied to your ID. Say something off color in your own home? That's tied to your ID too. That sound creepy and invasive? registers have to respond to a server to track financial transactions, including cash ones, and it's back up to a centralized server for the corperation's district which also backs it up to a centralized one for the overall company in their HQ

>>742240131
Here, this is the bit where they talk about verifying age. Note that while they say these companies aren't REQUIRED to take government IDs to verify age, that's legalese for, "But you still have to let them AI scan your face or take a credit card to verify your age, and if a third party vendor is getting tricked by gmod models, you're legally responsible." Thus, they will demand your credit card rather than your ID. It doesn't matter, they build a profile of all of your accounts and online activity and tie it to your bank account so the government can come in and shut your assets down for wrongthink when the inevitable legislation comes in later down the line.

Read between the lines you dense motherfucker, if a law states you MUST restrict something for minors, then you either:
>1) restrict nothing, break the law
>2) restrict it for everyone, because you have no idea who is and isn't a minor
>3) find a surefire way to determine who is and isn't a minor (ie, face scans or ID services) and only restrict it for them
Just asking for the user's birthday or "Are you 18+ years old?" isn't cutting it anymore, because these laws make the service providers liable even if users lie about their age.
