I'm interning at Nintendo of America for the Summer and someone at the company that I'm friends with hooked me up and let me play the Ocarina of Time remake in the play tester room. I got to play it for about 2 hours and since I'm extremely familiar with it I blasted through almost the entire child portion of the game. Figured I would share some details since they didn't bother to show anything from the game themselves:For starters, it's unfortunately not a full reimagining like I was personally hoping for, it's a lot like the Star Fox remake where it's mostly the same game with a fresh coat of paint. The gameplay is exactly the same as are the dungeons. Movement is a bit heavier/slower which I'm not a fan of but I assume this was done to fit the new visuals better and not look awkward. The biggest changes are purely visual, certain areas are a little larger and there's more added scenery like trees and plants etc but on the whole everything is how it was in the original. The other biggest changes are the expanded cutscenes and new voice acting. There are a lot of new cutscenes in the game to expand the story and the ones I watched(I skipped a few of them just to get further into the game and see as much as possible) were actually pretty neat and fleshed out the characters in a way the original lacked. For example there was a new cutscene at the beginning of the game with Link hanging out with Saria in Kokiri Village and the part where you leave and she gives you the ocarina was a bit longer too. These new scenes would typically take place when entering a new area for the first time and after completing an objective. All NPC dialogue is fully voiced as well and it's unsurprisingly very bad, Nintendo really needs to get better VAs if they're going to keep have games with voice acting.If anyone has any specific questions they want to ask about it I'd be happy to stick around for a bit and answer them the best I can.

The new cutscenes are also fully scored, not sure how exactly to describe, not with new music but like new arrangements/extended versions of songs from the game if that makes any sense? You do get the additional story and cutscenes here but that's as far as they went. I would've preferred redesigned dungeons too, I've played the original game enough times where I can fly through them with my eyes closed and hands tied behind my back and I'll probably end up finishing this new one in a day. New sidequests would've been nice, maybe even an extra mini dungeon or make the ice cavern a full length dungeon, etc. But they took the easy way out and kept everything as is. I still enjoyed what I played for the most part and I'll be more than happy to play one of my favorite games over again for the millionth time but I personally wanted something that felt new.
