When was the last time Obsidian made a good game that made a lot of money?
>>742480527NVsisters... not like this...
>>742480527The jew schreier already said obsidian isnt being shut down
>>742480527>buyoutSomeone let Elon Musk know. I'm not a fan of the guy, but him personally firing that woke loud mouth art director would be just desserts.
>>742480527good riddance. If you've seen any of the developer videos on Avowed and that space game, you'll see how insanely uninspired these devs are. They literally do not care about the games they make. There is 0 passion. They're just there to say, "yeah i make video games" and that's where their connection to their craft begins and ends.
>>742480667Schreier's post made it sound like it was never on the table, this shows that YES, it was considered, and if we're being honest considering the way Microsoft is currently moving it'll end up being back on the table within two weeks
>>742480814Jew Kike said that Obsidian is one of the safe ones and Grubb has been wrong concerning Xbox stuff in the past year due to his sources not being as good.
>>742480527We trusting Jason Schreier or not this time, Xbox niggers?>>742480667There xhe is!
>>742480573What is 2014 with Stick of Truth, Alex?
>>742480641The vast majority of NV devs no longer work at Obsidian
>>742481753Good.
This was already DEBOONKED in your previous thread, OP.
>>742481753Youd think they'd have had a chance to finally make a good game then
>>742480667Would you be surprised if MS changes their mind tomorrow? Notbody is safe until they announce the layoffs.
>>742481693>It's been 17 years since they made something worth a damnIt's a shame even the South Park guys can't make anything good.
>>742482040Yes>>742482081Well clearly not since at least back then Obsidian made games that were interesting even if they were rushed. Nowadays their games are just boring. But to be fair people that made good RPGs in the past like Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky proceeded to make Outer Worlds so it's possible they're just washed.
>>742480527Obsidian was always the studio with some pretty good talent, but shitty management. They made some good games despite it but it's obviously not a sustainable state of affairs and the talent is eventually driven away, as we've seen for the last 10+ years. Urquhart is not good at his job, I remember hearing shit about him having his wife on the payroll years ago (granted I think this was Avellone saying it so, grain of salt). I'm not at all surprised MS is sick of their shit, especially with the lawsuit.
>>742480573>When was the last time Obsidian made a good game that made a lot of money?I don't think this has ever happened. Closest you get is probably New Vegas but Todd decided it was overall a financial disappointment and I gotta trust Todd.
>>742483031Obshitian would have been great if not for the asshole that pitched projects to publishers. If you pitch a NV that you can make in 18 months and bethesda agrees, you don't immediately start building something that would take 2 years to properly develop. They either had a problem with estimating what they wanted to make or a problem with sticking to a plan they'd formed.
>>742483146>Todd decidedYet he decided to make fallout 4 and you have to be delusional to think F3 was better than FNV
>>742483592>"but what about F3 and F4???"This is off topic. According to Todd F3 made more money than NV and reviewed better than NV. That clearly - objectively - means F3 is better than NV.
>Cucksoft has inXile, Blizzard, Obsidian and Bethesda>did fuck all with itamazing
>>742483841>made more moneywhat a useless metric which rarely has any correlation to game quality, we are on /v/ we video games, why would i care which product brought some kike CEO or board of directors more money,
>>742483031>Obsidian was always the studio with some pretty good talent, but shitty management. So nothing has changed since Interplay/Black Isle I see
>>742480527I doubt that, Obsidian is one of the few devs that puts out consistent AA gamepass titles
>>742483969Thry didn't buy those studios to make games, they bought them to make propaganda. What did you expect would happen?
>>742484036oh yeah Urquhart is a retard and Black Isle is the worst thing that happened to InterplayI knew it ever since Fallout 2 destroyed the tone and setting established by Fallout 1
>>742484070It's like Dark Messiah of M&M but with all of the soul brutally ripped from its corpse.
>>742484021>what a useless metric which rarely has any correlation to game qualityGet out of here, you commie bastard. We're trying to run a business here.
>>742480573Pillars of Eternity.
>>742484203nah it's pretty goodThink it would be better without companions though
>>742484475What happens? Do they eventually make it over to you or do you have find a way to turn the traps off?
>>742481693I genuinely forgot that game was made by Obsidian
>>742484530technically, I highlight the solution there, use electricity sources on that hole in the left wall.they will teleport when you get far away or try to cross if you distance yourself slowlyCompanions were a mistake for stuff like that.I could have electric arrows or bulelts, an electic pod or an electric spell, but each companion can by default use an elemental interaction for free, so if you know there's ancient runes with electricity interactions you can just bring Giatta, likewise if there's roots/overgrown vines as obstacles just bring Kai and he will burn them and so on.Companions, at least traditional companions instead of just specific quest companions are most definetly the biggest fault of the game. They try to and often times manage to implement some decent dungeon design but your ai companions need to get through it, which hampers any chance of using BOTW style elemental and physics interactions and parkour
>>742480527>UHHHHH FUCK they are eating our ass because of the sony no physical news>uhhhh quick wamr up some leftover xbox rumor leakageThis will not make sony stop dropping physicalWhy not write about that to get the pressure going?
>>742484070Avowed was so fucking good.Make it 30€ or lower on xbox app already and I buy it.
>>742480573Grounded, but that game always felt like a side project, also no idea how the sequel is doing. Personally can't be bothered with these early access games especially if they're from larger studios. I know you asked for good games but Outer Worlds is the most financially successful game for the company.
>>742484070>Forspoken but less fun and mote cringeHow'd they get away with it?
>>742484371>>>/biz/ and get scammed kid
>>742485628You never played a videogame, seanigger.
>>742485797It's 6 AM in the east coast thoughever.>videogamesNot on /v/
>>742485774>/bizexual/lmao
>>742480527I mean, that one makes even more sense than Arkane. None of the Obsidian original titles were good or sold well. And since neither Bethesda nor Bioware will ever make anything good again neither will Obsidian.
>>742485351>also no idea how the sequel is doingweird apologists that get oddly butthurt about mentioning that game is linked to obsidian say it's doing "fine for early access game" or "future has a lot of potential"
>>742483031>granted I think this was Avellone saying it so, grain of saltWhy would there be a grain of salt and a reason not to trust Chris?
Hopefully Sawyer will make a new company with Avellone and they start making low budget indie crpgs
>>742486626It's been a while but I think this was when he was being run out, middle of a lawsuit or something. Point is he was angry at Obsidian at the time I heard it. Doesn't change the fact the fact Urquhart and co. suck at their, I just thought it was worth noting.
>>742480573>goodI liked Pentiment and Avowed well enough, so I would consider those decent.>sold wellAlas. Well. Yeah.
>>742487456>PentimentI quit hard because of the nonconsensual conversations. I don't mind a game where I just talk to people but I get to be the one who decides who I fucking talk to and when.
I have Obsidian on my Ignore list and I don't remember why. Sure, Outer Worlds, Avowed and Pillers of Eternity are all dogshit games but not Ignore worthy. Why did I go out of my way to Ignore Obsidian?
>>742487552Do you mean the people who talk to you during story beats? I've managed to avoid those until I want to go there, and wander around the village and church as much as I want.
Nah they're gonna force Obsidian to be the second Fallout studio like how COD has different teams alternating releases. The new IPs like Avowed and Outer Worlds are finished they had many chances with no results.
>>742487709I mean I started the game in a house and I talked to a man, woman and a girl child I think and then I was supposed to go elsewhere and the screen transferred to a town square and there was apparently a fucking long ass line of motherfuckers queued up just to waste my time and I dipped out and uninstalled.
>>742487829Anon, it's a visual novel game. Did you expect there to be no words when part of the plot literally hinges upon calligraphy style?
>>742487883I want to be the one to decide who I talk to and when, that's all I'm saying.
>>742480527Me and the boys when Obsidian gets shut down:https://youtu.be/Lrle0x_DHBM
>>742488563Me on the right.
>>742480527Wasn't this reported as untrue? Whatever source you're linking you can safely ignore as an obvious grifter btw.
>>742480667>Jew
Goodz microslop is cancer.
Sawyer will just be picked up by the KCD crew.
>>742480527Joe Gonzalez is back at Obsidian, so they are clearly working on another Fallout game, and it is probably New Vegas 2. I am aware that Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2 are wokeslop trash, but that doesn't mean that they couldn't make another good Fallout game. Not to mention that Bethesda is busy with Elder Scrolls 6 and some studio is going to have to make a new Fallout, because the last mainline Fallout was released over 10 years ago.
Obsidian is apparently pitching a new Fallout game, and so the Microsoft execs probably don't want to get roped into spending a hundred million dollars on another woke flop. And they aren't gonna another Avowed or TOW after those games underperformed.
