It's a gacha so it's shit by default, but aside from gacha mechanics, limbus is actually a dogshit game. The combat is bad and they gave up all pretenses they had early on with dungeons, etc. It took them about a year to fall for the typical gacha power creep "all the new units have an entire book's worth of description in their abilities". The optional content is a snorefest too. The writing is mostly bad with some moments that shine through like Heathcliff's chapter. Even the music is a downgrade compared to ruina or even lob corp's royalty free music. Because Limbus Company is like a shallower, less fun, less interesting autobattler version of Ruina. It is built around mobile game mechanics which are fundamentally broke, and still relies on predatory gambling to turn a buck, even if it is the "friendliest" gacha out there.

We are also 3-years into this gacha hell, with no new games in sight. Which was pretty much every Project Moon fan's worse case scenario, when it was first announced. Development has consumed the studio. They haven't used the funds to really expand out to more games, or meatier pieces of media. The only thing going for Limbus Company is the story, and you're better off just watching a no commentary youtube let's play for that, desu.

The gameplay has gotten much better compared to release. Still not as good as ruina, but now when you're not winrating through dailies and the MD there's an actual game there. Canto 4 and 5 have infamous new player filterers, but in the way that you just need to learn the game and not actually need good units. Canto 7 is kinda fucky if you don't have a good healing EGO like fluid sac faust with the amount of unavoidable damage.
In terms of your inventory, it's really only bad if you try to absolutely blitz through it. If you just take breaks between cantos (but launch the game to stock up on some modules/gather free lunacy) to dump into the next EXP/thread lux you unlock you should be fine, but if you try to go too fast it's easy to get stuck underleveled with no modules. Just getting everything from one team comp and investing everything in it should get you through the whole story, playing more is just for if you want to not just play one team the whole time.

There's more to talk about it when there's someone playing, asking for info or suggestions. Right now most people here that already played them knows the story and the solutions to the problems the games throw at you, only leaving small stuff like misunderstandings in the story to be adressed among themselves or abnormalty stories to be deciphered on what each represent (there's also the talk about experiences in the games or just posting fanart but that's just common stuff one can glaze over).
Another thing that doesn't really help is that the story of the setting is still going forward with the new entry, making people gravitate over what's new to talk about it. Limbus also naturally elaborates on some story bits the previous games had, thus eliminating some speculation or headcanons that people could make if the series ended at that point (first or second game).

Lobcorp was fun because it was SCP with deepest lore and well realized (if janky) gameplay concepts. Most mechanics were unique and it was fun figuring out each monster and getting their gear/learning to deal with their bullshit/learning to manipulate their bullshit to help deal with other bullshit. It is a fairly unique game and towards the end it feels rewarding to use the bullshit you learned to overcome a fairly large difficulty spike to get a genuinely cool ending.

Library was fun because it had MORE deepest lore and it was a pretty fun deck building game. It was released episodically and was enjoyable to talk about with anons as we got more city lore and grimdark bullshit. It also pushed the difficulty to a satisfying level (too bad they caved and removed pagelock because people whined.) The game is fun to interact with, each floor has a mechanic you can build around (summoing tiphxodia is fun) and enemies usually have a mechanical THING they do and you have to figure out how to counter.

Limbus I quit at the end of Dons chapter. The actual story is fun but there are incredibly long stretches where absolutely nothing is happening with the game BUT they still expect you to mash Mirror Dungeon every fucking day. I feel like there are times when we were like maybe 10 hours of new shit every 4 months. Mirror Dungeon (at least when I played it) was not really interesting, it was just mashing winrate, the only interesting goal was filling out the pack/ego compendiums. Railroad was the only time the game was even remotely interesting challenge-wise, and it only happens a few times a year. The combat system is discount Ruina and unbalanced, certain status effects/IDs were dramatically stronger than the rest, bleed and sinking were dominant in the meta forever. I wouldn't be surprised if they still are to this day. Worst of all it just seems like PM didnt have any intentions of doing anything other than reworking Mirror Dungeon every season.

I don't think the upper limits of the setting have been challenged at all yet. Perhaps because we're nowhere near a level where we could participate in fights where such a thing happens without getting vaporized by proximity.
The sinners have survived a Night in the Backstreets and fought ex-higher-ups from all five fingers (around Thumb Sottocapo level, on average) without crumpling. If I remember right the current estimate was somewhere just into Urban Nightmare.
We've gotten a little more context on what the true upper echelons of power in the City MIGHT look like, but no sign of actually tapping into those powers in any new or special way yet.
