The difference being that The Shining and The Thing were made by some of the most talented people of their era, not whoever these twats purport to be.

It’s crazy how Capcom has turned the Resident Evil brand into the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval and just licenses it out to any horror movie that has enough money

Probably still a better resident evil story than 5, 6, and 9
>>
is there a clip of him losing it, or is that quote supposed to be it?
>>
>>744002921
Losing it is an exaggeration but he sounds bothered by the fact people criticized the fact that the movie takes place near Raccoon City yet it isn't not set in the 90s, it is winter, and the main character uses a smartphone. So from the clip I saw, he goes on a little tangent saying what OP quoted more or less.

The people have valid criticisms though. He's basically making an alternate universe Resident Evil film since it seems to change the fundamental origins of the lore by having it set 20 years after its set, the outbreak happening differently and following a completely unrelated character. Basically at that point just using the name Resident Evil to push the story he wants to tell. People are defending this saying "Well, RE7 was a huge change from the previous games and it was successful" forgetting that the story in RE7 and 8 is deeply tied to the lore of the world even to the point of including previously established characters. It wasn't a complete universal reset in to a new timeline like this movie seems to be. A gameplay, narrative and perspective change for sure but it still set in the world of Resident Evil unlike his movie seems to be. At this point, the Mila movies are more faithful than whatever his vision is.

If the movie is good that’s fine I guess
But it’s sad that we can’t just adapt a game into an action packed thrilling movie about being stuck in a house filled with zombies. And having to conserve, evade and power through many trials

Like imagine yourself in resident evil. You need to progress through the mansion but there’s a literal monster in the next room. You’re only saving grace is that it’s too stupid to open doors, how do you get through the room. Do you either take out the zombie with your 3 handgun bullets or try to outmaneuver it so you can get to the next door. Imagine the tension felt as you open the door and rush to the next while evading the zombie. Imagine the relief when you find a pack of bullets. Why can’t a movie just closely follow a re protag overcoming trials that get progressively more fucked
>>

Kek. Maybe cut hubristic content from your script just in case it ever gets made public.
Also every single member of the RCPD was killed near enough the beginning of the outbreak except for Leon (who overslept on his first day of work and showed up like 20 hours late) Irons (who was part of the whole scheme) and the remaining members of STARS who don't even wear the standard uniform.

>forgetting that the story in RE7 and 8 is deeply tied to the lore of the world
Exactly. It bothers me that people talk about RE7 like that because it's basically what RE2 is to RE1. New event, new characters, all tied and connected in the deeper layers of the lore. I've never seen anyone make this comparison between RE1, RE2 and RE7 to the rest of the franchise but I'm sure what I'm saying makes sense.

Also, I'm not even a huge fan of RE7, so that's not why I'm defending it right now. It was a messy game, tedious to replay and platinum because of all the walking and talking and the Mia sections, and I just don't like Nakanishi. I just think it's a good thing to point out.

I will say though, and I know I'm going on a tangent at this point, but Nakanishi has good ideas, I do think he has good concepts, but he absolutely should not be in charge of anything beyond that because his games are a little too close to the overly emotion focused Sony walking sim movie shit. Keep Nakanishi as an idea guy or whatever because RE7 for example is a fantastic idea, but it wasn't that great of an actual game.

Because artists love to create. They fucking love the chance to create something that they can call theirs and get recognition for it. Adapting an already established story in to another medium is something that even if they don't say it, they think its beneath them. It is the equivalent of hiring an artist (that regardless of talent will think they're amazing) and having them trace over the Mona Lisa. They will without a second thought start creating their own lines.

It's not like making a Metal Gear movie and failing to put Snake in it, because you can't even argue that RE has a main character. Chris is in maybe a third of the games. Leon is in maybe a third of the games.

I think pretending to be mad that Resident Evil isn't Resident Evil is absurd at this point.
Ignoring the fact we already saw ten or more of those Paul WS Anderson movies, which had nothing to do with the games, the games themselves have completely changed direction three or four times.
What even constitutes real Resident Evil at this point?
And no, they're not going to just adapt the games, because then it would be a movie about people putting crests in walls.
If they're going to adapt anything directly, it's RE7, which also doesn't have real zombies in it.

I also have no interest in watching another RE movie whatsoever, and I can't fathom how people could still be mad, after how many times they've done this. If anything, this is outrage marketing.

The movie looks good, it'll end up being the best RE film. I agree that Cregger should've committed more to the setting, but an everyman's perspective during the Raccoon City outbreak is a good idea that's the perfect vehicle for the nonstop Fury Road-esque style he's allegedly going for. If I wanted to see RE1 / RE2 on screen again I'd just play the games - if you're not doing something unique with it, adapting one visual medium to another is just a cash grab.

That's my worry. Sphere is an interesting but flawed and convoluted and difficult to follow film. This is so much worse. It's like he's so hellbent on his "flood" imagery that he seems to think the best way to get there is to just keep piling on more twists and lore and stuff and I just don't get the logic here. Sci-fi films live or die on really strong scripts. The script of Event Horizon, which had rewrites by the guy who did Seven, is a huge reason for the film's succeed. It is thematically tight, has strong dialogue, and the studio meddling couldn't break it. This movie is a fucking house of cards, and Cregger is such a golden boy he'll likely get zero pushback.

As someone that has played almost every resident evil game made (i even played the gbc one on an actual gbc (it sucks)), who cares. The RE plot is a mess and not even Capcom cares enough to keep the whole thing organized. The original timeline doesn't even have an ending, it was just dropped and rewritten between re6 to re7. There are around 5 or 6 timelines, pretty sure none of them have an ending and they all just keep being dropped when Capcom gets bored.

The last two reboots failed, but they have an incentive to keep trying. Resident Evil is a cash cow. They just have to figure out how to milk it without the "come see what ridiculous antics Alice gets up to in this one" hook that the previous films used.

Mortal Kombat and the original Resident Evil films are by the same guy. The difference is that they don't actually own the rights to the Capcom Resident Evil characters, but rather use them under restrictive license, so literal step 1 of adapting Resident Evil is to replace Capcom's characters with your own character. Your own protagonist that you own and Capcom don't control. This is why Alice was created.

Alice exists to replace Jill. Jovovich originally signed on to play Jill, but Anderson sat her down and explained that having a Capcom owned character be the protagonist of Resident Evil was a complete no-go. She had to become Alice.

To be fair WTRC and RE Netflix were pretty close together, delayed due to COVID. That didn't work, so they're now trying to pull an Evil Dead. Basically hire hot new horror directors and let them make movies that are vaguely "RE" in some wishy-washy way. So the sequel will just ignore this film completely and have a new director and do its own thing. Rinse, repeat. So RE shifts from being "the adventures of Alice and her never ending quest to defeat Umbrella" to being a flexible horror anthology.

I think there is a little merit to this in the sense that a huge reason the original films were able to continue is that they always mixed things up. Each new RE film was very different to the last one. Totally different visual style, music style (they changed composers 5 times and stopped using the iconic RE theme after the third movie), and shifting from slow motion to super fast editing in the final movie. Kept people on their toes. Box office declined overall, especially in the US, but it didn't implode. Even without China added in, RE The Final Chapter still made like 160M on a 40M budget. Which is not bad for a strange film that feels like a cry for help sometimes. RE in its death throes was outgrossing 28 Years Later, a massively hyped Danny Boyle movie with glowing reviews. But after Anderson left there has been a clear sense of having no idea what to do. The Netflix show made a lot of choices that never would have been made if anyone had bothered to ask Anderson what he thought. The fucking dialogue, man. What the hell. And THIS movie is repeating the same issue. I don't get it.
>>
>>744011690
RE's entire through line is "zombies" and the term zombie is used incredibly loosely to mean any kind of man-made monster, or in some cases parasite infections. There is usually but not always an evil corporation.

So, the new movie is doing a perfectly fine job at being RE, actually.
>>
>>744012138
The exact lineage of the script is a bit fuzzy. But I think the overall total lack of RE story ideas or themes or anything like that is more a product of Cregger not caring at all about any aspect of Resident Evil other than the gameplay. He's like hiring someone to direct a RoboCop reboot and they only care about the gameplay of RoboCop: Rogue City. They don't care about the story themes, the satire, any of it.
>>
>>744012003
>Jovovich originally signed on to play Jill, but Anderson sat her down and explained that having a Capcom owned character be the protagonist of Resident Evil was a complete no-go. She had to become Alice.
She wasn't hired to play Jill. The script with Jill was already scrapped before she was cast. Reportedly the original script by Romero was immediately rejected by Capcom as being too similar to the games. Capcom was apparently concerned if the movie was the same as the game then there would be no reason to play the game and it would cannibalize their sales. Anderson was hired to write the film and given the instruction to come up with his own characters and story and just keep the basic premise intact from the game and that's it.

So this movie doesn't actually have an evil corporation. Umbrella doesn't control Raccoon. They're just a random biotech company that did a project for the government that made a mistake and caused an accident and now the wildlife is eating people. There are no BOWs in the sense Resident Evil uses them. There are no conventional zombies. In terms of world building and themes, it bears no resemblance to the games, the previous films, any of it. The previous films are about how zombies are an allegory for repression of individuality. This is why Rain's terror at not being herself anymore, at being something that looks like her, but is not her is interesting, because she's actually a clone, a mass produced Umbrella base model given a hastily assembled, very shallow programmed personality. All of the characters in the first movie, including Alice, are not real people. And this is foreshadowed 15 years in advance by the fact the opening scene in the bathroom is a reference to Dark City, a film about a character who wakes up in a fake world filled with people who have had their memories and personalities altered/replaced/switched.

They want a linear roller coaster ride that they play once on easy and then put down when the credits roll. They don't like Resident Evil for its gameplay, so when Zach Cregger says he's trying to capture the feelings he had playing Resident Evil, shitters don't understand, they just go WHERE'S LEON??? and then cry

>She wasn't hired to play Jill.
It's complicated. She actually met with Anderson and told him she wanted to be Jill. And he said no. And he told her it was because it would trap them into Capcom's storylines. This would become a pattern. So Capcom would never allow the reveal that Jill works for Umbrella or is a clone.
>Reportedly the original script by Romero was immediately rejected by Capcom as being too similar to the games.
This isn't true. Constantin scrapped that version because it was too violent for a German-made movie and Romero was being an ass about it.

Capcom were not exactly opposed to game characters being used in the first film, but they did have issue with Jill IIRC. But the studio decided to sidestep Capcom's control. Alice is Jill. Spence is Wesker. That's why he's the traitor in the group working to steal the research. Matt is based on the McElroy script version of Brad, I think? Basically in the McElroy script there was a character who was looking for his missing girlfriend and had snuck in using false ID to impersonate a member of STARS. This evolved into Matt pretending to be an RPD officer to search for his missing girlfriend. Also, in the Romero script, Brad was a computer hacker. This evolved into the character of JD.

The intent matters here as well, and that's what some people don't seem to get. I would totally be onboard if the dude wanted to make a new take using the already established foundation as a jumping off point. He could have had it set in the winter before the Raccoon City incident, totally self contained with a character, depending on if the movie does well or not, could be introduced in to the greater lore. Instead he decides to create this parallel timeline that's apparently set in the universe of Resident Evil but that thus far shows no signs of anything resembling it except the usual horror tropes we've seen in every other horror movie in the last 3 decades.

It would be as if JJ rebooted the Star Trek universe, did the different timeline like he did but then proceeded to not use any of the established entities, lore, and characters but hey there is a Federation and it is set in space.

There is a shot in the PWSA movie Soldier starring Kurt Russel with a glass vial clinking on the ground in slow motion. It bothered me for years. Then it clicked like a light going on. It's a direct visual copy of a dropped cigarette in the film Backdraft starring Kurt Russel. Every Anderson film is like this. It's impressive how deep it runs.

If you've ever seen a Paul W.S. Anderson film and you thought, wait, I've seen this shot before, your instincts are always correct. His films are assembled out of a dreamlike regurgitation of images. Almost like a proto-AI filmmaker ala Quentin Tarantino. (Who actually really liked Anderson's Three Musketeers remake.)

The original evil dead films arent 'mean spirited' and neither are most films that pay tribute to it. Rami found the easiest path into film for independants was horror and he just took his weird style and sense of humor into that.

Weapons was mildly interesting, Barbarian was absolute direct to dvd early 00's budget Horror tier horseshit. Not exactly horribly bad but in the end both where as generic as it gets. Back when DVD's became a thing those where the movies you could get a the supermarket 5 bucks each popup here. Movies so mid, you wouldnt bother to rent them out at the local blockbuster but just put them near the counter somewhere in the hopes that moms grab one while walking by during grocery shopping.
Without being in any way invested in RE I already know this movie will be as bland and shitty but at the same time somewhat palatable as possible. Absolute end level normiecore. So even without fanboy lore autism this guy pisses me off as he is the quintessential harbinger of mediocracy, the nutra loaf of directors, the personification of a dead end job office cubicle.

Off camera, doing other things and living in the world, not born yet or dead depending on the time it is set. Just because we don't see them doesn't mean they don't exist. As oppose to using the name Star Trek, none of the characters existing and just having a thinly veiled Federation with none of the same species existing. Did it have some mean moments? sure, but that wasnt the core of the film. The tree rape scene lasted 10s and it was over. Overall the meanest part of the evil dead series. The goal was to shock and pull in viewers and I think they accomplished that.

>>744014956
Same. everyone is trying so hard to be serious all the time so the evil dead films stop feeling like a 'ride' with scary moments interrupted by points of levity/silliness.

Seems like everyone is trying hard to emulate/recapture the spirit of the first film and not realizing that most people enjoy 2+3 more.
>>
>>744015104
yet critically loved by viewers? it still gets referenced daily and memed online in good spirits. people loved it, just it wasn't "for all audiences" there's a reason a marvel movie can break even easily because everyone can go and watch it, with films like American Psycho they require a certain audience and lowered sense of audience numbers that will come to see it.

It got a D cinemascore which is incredibly bad. Similar to Event Horizon and Eyes Wide Shut and Vanilla Sky and stuff like that.

Point is, RE movies cannot afford to be like this. Not at this budget level. The whole reason the old Resident Evil movies are like that is because Event Horizon was a massive failure that along with Soldier almost destroyed PWSA's career. So he pivoted hard with RE. You cannot make an RE film like Event Horizon or Vanilla Sky or similarly alienating film.

I have concerns that Cregger has made a mistake with this film. That it will please the niche, and piss of the normies and a lot of RE fans who will hate the tone and ending and dialog and so on.

It's not just the tree rape. It's things like a close up shot of someone being stabbed with a pencil and then it being used to gouge around the wound. Sam Raimi has gone on record saying Evil Dead was supposed to be a brutal, shocking, unrelenting, dark horror experience. It wasn't meant to be campy. It wasn't meant to be fun. It was meant to be horrible.

That's what he meant, not that you are supposed to watch the movie and not have a good time.

The first 3 RE games could adapt totally clean to movie scripts. Hell you could make RE2 into a little cinematic event if you handled it right. Shoot Leon A/Claire B as two separate movies during the same production and release them in the same year.

The problem with the RE movies is that Constantin has made a shitload of money off the Anderson movies that are complete fanfiction and they genuinely think Welcome To Raccoon City failed because it was TOO faithful to the games.

It's not countered to anything. Films are a visual medium and plenty of talented people were able to convey information with minimal dialogue.

Is it harder? Yes, but it is often far more enjoyable than hearing people hash out every plotpoint like a fucking netflix film.
>>
>>744020623
>>744003953
The original trilogy does not have a good story either overall or each game on their own.
Overall it's the most schizophrenic and inconsistent trilogy in potentially any medium (not counting sequel trilogies, like Halloween 4-6 or the last three Romero 'of the Dead' films).
But individually, what the fuck is there?
>RE1
Some cops dick around in a mansion where stuff happened. Nobody really has any motivation that makes any amount of sense after killing their third zombie (aside from one guy who specifically wants to kill everyone with big monsters). The whole conceit of the narrative being around selling big uncontrollable monsters is fucking dumb as well, especially in a world with BOMBS.
>RE2
Ignoring the fact that this game has two completely contradictory storylines that apparently both happen, the characters are still largely flat and without motive, the whole conceit of the monsters is still dumb, the setting is even more ridiculous (a giant superlab underneath a normal fucking city, and the game implies that was a RECENT addition). It's just stupid.
>RE3
All that needs to be said is "America nuking itself".
Or maybe "Giant talking monster with a rocket launcher".
>>
>>744020739
Nobody is even asking for a 1:1. They just see the movie and know it's not going to be even slightly related to the IP.

Max Payne was one of my favorite games of all time growing up and even inspired me to write my own short stories. Of course I was pissed when the movie was a dogshit rugpull.

People like creggler think the audience owes him for his work, when it's the other way around. If you dont have an audience you dont have a job.

>The first 3 RE games could adapt totally clean to movie scripts.
This is something that only someone who hasn't really made anything narrative driven would think.
For a start, RE1 doesn't have a real story. To adapt RE1 you would need to completely rewrite it first, and if you're being 'faithful', you would need to have AT LEAST five main characters Those are
>Chris
>Jill
>Barry
>Wesker
>Rebecca
You can work with the first four, but unless you cut Bravo team and just merge Rebecca in (which fans have and will complain about, see WTRC's changes), you then need to include Bravo Team into the story. If you faithfully adapt that, you have two more living characters in there.
While including all that shit for Rebecca's character and the overall tragic element you need to write in
>establishing scenes outside the setting of the game to set a sense of normalcy to contrast the tragedy
>Wesker's motivation/characterization (beyond just a simple monologue at the end of the game, even SD Perry understood that)
>introduce and show Barry's family so that they are not just a borderline non-existent plot device and carry actual weight
>give Chris and Jill backstory and motive (not literal flashbacks, but they need actual drive, in the games they have nothing because (You) the player are the real main character, and your goal is exploring and beating the game)
etc etc etc
All this in addition to figuring out what the theme of the story could even be, as RE1 barely even has a real theme that would survive being adapted into a film.

This whole idea that it's "easy to adapt" because it LOOKS like something else is precisely why the upcoming Metal Gear Solid film will be a complete shitshow.
>>
>>744020819
>ZoomerGODs
You mean Gen APLHA GAWDS! We run this shit now so you old ahh zoomies can go back to >>>/vmg/
>>
>>744021184
No, that's reality.
You could make the edge case that Wesker and Leon are also what "RE is", but the three bits of iconography I mentioned are really it. You act like game fans are the only facet of RE fandom, when the movies were WAY WAY WAY more popular and had WAY more fans than the games.
>>
>>744020514
>>744021164
So, there's still a ton of STARS in RE1, you run around with Barry and Rebecca all the time in both scenarios.
And Umbrella Mercs are alive for a fair chunk of RE3, and Carlos is with you right to the end.
The only RE game where you're actually, measurably alone is probably Village, since Chris is framed as a secondary antagonist there. It's just Ethan and perhaps the merchant.
RE7 as well when Zoe gets captured I suppose.
>>
>>744010860
Weapons and Barbarian were exceedingly mid, and that's not factoring in the fags obvious politics bleeding into into them in a distracting way.

>>
>>744021381

You do fucking realize that they are cops sent out to investigate what is happening out there right? Their motive besides surviving is doing their JOB.
>>
>>744021551
>>744021381
too much effort
No writer is going to do that for a video game
>>
>>744021649
Yeah, and that isn't good enough for characters who will be on screen for what will likely be 90-95% of your (like) 120~150 minute runtime (as mandated by current studio execs).
That's fine enough motive for a video game, where they barely speak and nobody playing things about their goals or motive whatsoever, but in a film these characters have to speak, emote, ponder, the actors have to provide reactions that were non-existent in the game, etc.
And again, the motive has to be deeper than investigate BECAUSE the excuse in the game for why they can't leave is because a couple of dogs were fucking around outside, which is absurd if you actually consider how much shit they kill in the mansion alone. By the time the hunters show up, they may as well just risk the forest, so they need something to keep these characters there.
Because in a game you won't be wondering "Why doesn't the character just leave" because you're the main character. Chris and Jill in RE1 are VEHICLES for (YOU)R actions.

But in a film, the people watching will be wondering why these CHARACTERS do RETARDED SHIT like stay in a mansion with giant lizard monsters instead of risking it outside with a couple dogs.

If you sit down and look at the monsters with the idea of adapting it to film, it's completely schizophrenic too. The zombies and the dogs are fine, they could carry a movie by themselves. But people would scream and cry and piss their pants if you did that. So you've also got to include:
>A giant snake
>Swarms of crows
>A giant mutant plant and its smaller brother living in that fountain
>a hive of giant mutant wasps
>giant spiders
>zombie sharks
>a horde of frog/lizard man monsters with big claws
>an even gianter spider
>Brundleflies
>A big naked gray guy
>If you're using the remake as a template, Crimson Heads and Lisa's whole deal
That's fine for a game that people will take 6-8 hours to beat their first time through. For a 90-120 minute movie, it's a complete clusterfuck.

>>
>>744022906
>This is your brain on community college film studies or creative writing classes.
It's the basics of what makes a film work.
You can't have a film that's just two hours of a character dicking around and not speaking, one where we learn basically nothing about said character. Even something as simple and iconic as Escape From New York tells you a lot about Snake Plisken in how he is written. He has a lot of thought put into him, he has a real story that the writers and actor clearly knew about, but that the audience doesn't.
His story is just him going into New York to save one guy, but it spirals out from there into various side journeys to add to the themes and idea of the work.

Faithfully adapting RE1 would be like if Snake Plisken never spoke, and the whole movie was him shooting random guys with no context.

The woods are infested with bizarre mutants and other creatures, not just the Cerberus we see, and it's the middle of the night in a dense forest with no real human presence within walking distance - the mansions was an unexpected, undocumented surprise. Their odds fare FAR better in a building looking for a way to contact help or at least hold out until the morning than trying to go outside at night. The original opening doesn't even make it clear it's just Cerberus attacking them compared to the remake, sure there's that one dog puppet you see getting shot but most of the camera work is just up close shots of gnashing teeth and flailing limbs, hell only knows WHAT was ripping Joseph apart.

>The woods are infested with bizarre mutants and other creatures,
First of all, canonically, they are aren't. The only things in the Arklay Woods at that time are dogs and some straggling zombies, and it can be inferred most of them are by the mansion since that's where all the fresh food (and noise) is. There's also crows but they're not really all that bothered by you.
Additionally, there is nothing in the mansion to warrant investigation when they arrive beyond the gun shot, and no reason to explore it when there is a present danger that they are under equipped for.

The novel actually solves this issue by giving both Chris and Jill personal motivations, and Capcom themselves gave Chris a personal motive in a pre-game storyline that isn't really canon but came with RE1 on Saturn.
Those are
>Chris has a friend who worked for Umbrella that went missing, and so he finds the mansion suspicious already (novel & Capcom)
and
>Jill is overly invested in the case due to knowing some of the victims (novel)
This isn't in the games at all and is post-material so don't use this as a comeback. The point is simply that literally everyone else recognizes the whole idea of "just investigating" as a flat character motive in any narrative focused work (which video games are not).
>>
>>744024142

>>744023990
I think they knew the mansion was there. The opening says "Bravo Team went to the hideout of the group and disappeared." Which is another cool detail that kind of gets glossed over. The zombies were attacking people and then going back home. The cops thought it was some kind of cannibal cult.

>>
>>744024261
I'm not reading all that but the intro for the first game explicitly says there have been sightings of strange animals and people roaming around in the woods around the same time that campers and hikers started disappearing. Crows are just as aggressive as anything else, hence what happened to Forest Speyer (inb4 the set piece where they don't attack unless you fuck up the painting puzzle is used as evidence to the contrary as if it's not just for the sake of having a cool consequence to trying to brute force a puzzle). Animals aren't going to gravitate towards a mansion instead of roaming around the woods to the point of them all being attracted there instead of infesting the surrounding nature. STARS is still investigating the disappearance of Bravo team in the area and a weird unmarked mansions is obviously suspicious, and exploring the interior of the building is still a pretty solid plan instead of waiting until morning and trying to hike on foot to the nearest town or city.
>>
>>744023592
One member of the team gets split off during the chase through the mansion either Chris or Barry. Then they hear a nearby gunshot and Wesker engineers the further separation of the group. Wesker ropes Barry into helping him corral alpha team toward the real BOWs and in finding and killing Enrico who was on to him. There's never really an opportunity for them to group up with all their nicer gear and make a run for it. By the time that happens Brad's already waiting to pick them up at the helipad behind the mansion.
>>

It happens on every YT vid. The bots (usually porn bots if you click the profile) copy a popular comment and then the bot network upvotes it.

Trevor dying showed he really was the brains behind the operation.

The sheer amount of retards in here claiming you couldn't do an RE movie, spamming this reductive bullshit that RE has no story or that the most basic shared symbology means it IS RE and not a cheap pile of shit wearing it's skin like a suit is baffling. What the fuck happened to this board? Do any of you even LIKE videogames?

it's not just the 1:1 copied comments
like 80% of the entries are about how this or that thing in trailer is total Resident Evil
>>
>>744025278
It's a mix of people wanting a retelling of a game story and people wanting characters they know (Leon) and people just shitposting because new thing to get mad about

>cheap pile of shit
the resident evil 4 plot is a pile of shit

I don't trust this retard director because he wasn't upfront about this. If he was upfront about this I might let this slide but it almost comes off as he was withholding this because he knew it would piss people off

Retards like you have ruined this board with your brainless one note meaningless shitposts you probably shat out from a fucking smartphone. I wish being an insufferable fuck was physically painful for you.

I assume it's real. Is incredibly convoluted for an AI screenplay and has all of Cregger's worst writing habits. Not just that, it has a core, very stupid, reason for the name "Flood".

I understand you can't make a 1-1 RE 1 movie. I understand a director would have to take liberties, probably add new characters and new plot since RE 1 was razor thin. I was thinking about this and you could have like Umbrella Scientists trapped in a part of the mansion because if they try to leave the dogs try to kill them and they appear as normal people maybe you could have them claim to be like people who take care of the mansion and slowly you learn they are lying and you can have one of the scientists want to kill them and the other help them. Something like that. Doesn't have to be that but my point is I am aware a director would need to change things and I am ok with that but have a good director and a good writer do that. Let's try this one time so you can shut us up.
>Welcome to Racoon City was that
No it wasn't it was a godawful combining of two different games
I saw a lot I did not like in the Romero script but at this point I wish we got it just to see how it would have panned out

This is why reddit is defending this so hard and attacking people critical of it because of writing like this

Still proves he knows more about survival horror that the guys that made the resident evil movies.
>>
>>744006367
Then why fucking call it Resident Evil if you are not making it about Resident Evil you stupid fuck?
