Cool.
>>
This just further proves customers voting with their wallet is a form of economic terrorism.
>>
>>744517982
But do they mean games that admit to using AI and do it obviously or games that don’t admit to using AI and use it in a way that you can’t tell? Because those are two different things.
>>

Tim Sweeney was right when he said Steam was a predatory platform and having monopoly that forces developers to divulge this information to lose on potential sales.
Don't understand what everyone's obsession with that grey haired fat fuck is
>>
>>744518289
If AI is so good why are you upset that people have to disclose it
>>
Saar game is very good. Do not disclose the Ai. DO NOT DISCLOSE
>>
>give people the option to hide AI games
>china spreads anti-AI fud
>luddites slurp it op
>AI developers have their money effectively stolen

how is this not economic terrorism? discrimination against AI products should be banned the same way you aren't allowed to discriminate based on race. put gabe in prison for life for good measure for basically aiding china against the west

Ok... Now compare those "lost sales" with the costs of hiring some arrogant prick to do whatever work you put them on to make the various parts of the game. It's a net gain in the long run because the costs saved easily make up for any lost sales. Besides real gamers know gameplay is king.

Luddite terrorism! Aieeeeeee! Save me Claude!
>>
>>744518702
Companies found that using LLMs to do all that coding work is actually much more expensive because of the token burn rate and need to fix hallucinations.
I get the impression that /v/ only really cares about the end product and nothing that goes on behind the scenes which just seems like a shallow way to view the world, if you don't get into the guts of something how are you supposed to know how anything works?
>>
>>744517982
Yeah games like Fortnite, CoD and Genshin are massively unpopular, this is totally not a cope narrative
>>
>>744517982
Nope, the conclusion being drawn from this data is shit. No studio needs to be afraid of using AI if their game is high quality. AI games sell less because they're low quality, not because people see AI is being used. That's a subtle but meaningful difference here.

There's going to be 100,000,000 AI games or so, I fully expect there to be a high number of bad quality games. But I also expect there to be a high number of high quality AI games too. That's just what happens if you roll the dice enough.
>>
>>744519056
Stellar Blade just released a new music video and it looked like below average crap. If a major studio releases something that low quality and they are like SUPER into AI then this narrative seems like a cope to me.
>>
>>744517982
When all games are made by AI (we're pretty much already there, you just can't tell) then you'll have no fucking choice. You'll buy the "slop" and you'll love it, just like DLC, just like live service, just like every other thing you tried to boycott and failed. """Gamers""" are just a flock of sheep.
>>
>>744518575
Here's one easy step to avoid all that: Don't make slop :)
>>
>>744518826
These are luddite arguments, AI will get cheaper and better at coding. You can make any game you dream of. In fact the games industry will become obsoltee because you can just make a game you want instead of playing other peoples games. You can make something epic like grand theft auto your city!
>>
>>744517982
Selling just under half is still a fuckton, AIslop should sell 99% less who the fuck is buying this crap
>>
>>744519189
its another mass production event. the quality of games will drop 35% but there will be 3x more of them. just like how 100 years ago everyone had high quality custom made shoes, but now all you get is mass produced garbage thats not even foot shaped (but you can buy 3 of them!)
>>
>>744517982

>>
>>744519056
>AI games sell less because they're low quality, not because people see AI is being used.
Okay but seeing that AI tag is still a huge red flag. A lot of people will need to see a tsunami of positive reviews to overcome that.
>>
>>744519151
They had no obligation to release that music video though, who the fuck releases a music video for an unreleased game?
I didn't watch it, I'm sure it's not great, but that's a case where it exists in addition to everything else, rather than being proof of a reduction in quality.
>>
>>744517982
Why do faggots constantly try to persuade me that AI outrage is having an absurdly enormous impact on consumer sentiment as if it isn't just a bunch of losers of leddit and bluesky and shitty, biased data extrapolations. No one fucking cares

>>
>>744519328
>A lot of people will need to see a tsunami of positive reviews to overcome that.
and the way this ways out in the long term is people eventually see enough games which have the "tsunami of positive reviews" in addition to the AI tag, and then people start to disassociate the AI tag from the review score.

Games will be judged on quality irrelevant to the AI tag.

Here's your ai game
>>
>>744517982
Text in screenshot indicates games that used AI got 53% fewer REVIEWS (no direct correlation to sales), had a 4% difference in positive ratings, and that it mainly affected large studios/publishers or well known games.

So if you're a small studio or indie dev, seems like a no brainer to use AI as those tradeoffs are well worth the time & cost savings.
>>
>>744519437
We could still have an economy by rebuilding the American manufacturing sector... what? It's too much effort and not enough profit? Oh, okay then...
>>
Why should anyone give any ai game the time of day if even its creator cares so little about its quality that they resort to ai?
>>
>>744519478
Maybe not. What I said was anecdotal because that's exactly what I do and I believe a lot of people do it too.
>>
>>744519648
But what savings is there to be had really? Tokens are getting expensive
>>
>>744518258
AI slop deflects sales away from it's own creators very well then.
>>
>>744519691
>you used a computer and didnt care enough to draw it by hand

lol this argument is funny because it takes the position that most of the population is creative enough to make their own media
they're not
no matter how easy AI can theoretically make the process, the average person still won't engage
they want their media presented to them
and even then, a lot of them would rather rewatch or replay the same five shows or games they've been consuming their whole lives
"You can make your own!" will never be an argument that will win over the masses
>>
>>744520585
Right now I'd say fable is about a 9x dev, though it's not exactly built for video game making so it's not quite as efficient (lots of fiddling with the rules of whichever engine you're using that differs from the C languages)

That doesn't mean you make it 9x faster of course, because a lot of making a game is iteration and design and thinking (that AI isn't great at, yet), but it's probably already 3-4x I'd say

My problem with AI is that all AIfags seem to have dogshit taste.
Take that Stellar Blade video, both the song and the video are shit, yet the AIfag in charge genuinely thought that was good enough to release and thought people would think it looked and sounded good.
Also makes me worried about the game's performance, since they'll probably try to rely on godawful frame generation and DLSS to make up for the dogshit performance, which is sad since the first game runs amazingly.

you can make very great pictures with AI if you have the brain to figure out how to prompt what you want shown correctly (and you have the creativity to figure out what you want to show, in the first place), but drooling retards will always be drooling retards, well, maybe one day they'll get to have a CPU in their head and their brain might work a bit better than now but until then, yeah, most people are retarded, AI isn't changing the equation at all

Their knowledge of AI capabilities is also usually like 2-3 years behind. Most of these retards still think that it can't produce original findings and just repeats stuff. Meanwhile, OAI recently solved some 80yo math problem that none of the autists who do math for a living could figure out.
>>
>>744520854
AI requires you to have low standards and dogshit taste, because if you have high standards and taste you have to start manually editing the output of the AI to make it better and closer to your vision - which kind of starts to defeat the entire purpose of using AI in the first place.
If you don't manually edit the output, you're at the mercy of the AI randomly spitting out something that's perfect (good luck)

they made a poll amongst game devs at the last game developer conference (GDC). guess what? 52% of them reported that their studio is using AI.

"""
30% of respondents reported that they believe that generative AI is having a negative impact on the games industry, which is a 12% increase from last year. Developers pointed to intellectual property theft, energy consumption, a decrease in quality from AI-generated content, potential biases within AI programs and regulation issues as the main factors behind their discontent with the technology.

More than half of developers surveyed (52%) work for companies that have implemented generative AI and one-third (36%) personally use them. Respondents within Business and Finance Roles in companies were most likely to use Artificial intelligence tools (51%), followed by Production and Team Leadership (41%) and Community, Marketing and PR (39%).

I think AI art looks better than 90% of indie game art.

I state this while acknowledging the very rational fear of actual drawing becoming a lost art and corporations being able to dictate what gets created based on their software guardrails.

In a world where companies weren't colluding, conniving cunts whose primary goal stopped being money and became social conditioning, I would probably be very supportive of an AI generated future.
>>
>>744517982
The real problem is that a majority of indie devs are shit programmers. Therefore they'd probably benefit with AI and not without it depending on the scenario. Outside of the actual Gen AI is the distinction that i mean that they can't even program video game NPC AI or even good enemy AI. It's always really low quality stuff. Good god do people downplay the depths of how poorly made all of those modern retro boomer shooters are. It's not exclusive to that either because it spans many genres that require just a very baseline of competence in which they all lack.

The customer is always right in matters of taste. If they don't like AI, don't use it. That is how business works. I really don't know how this needs to be explained to anyone. So far, people are rejecting AI in the use of video games and film. That might change in 10 years, but for now Steam is absolutely correct to put this in place. Whether or not to use AI is the same as whether or not to use RPG Maker's RTP in your games.
People will prefer something amateurish but with original art over something that uses RPG Maker's RTP.
This has always been my number one tip for anyone who wants to make RPG Maker games. Create your own tileset and characters, EVEN if they look much worse, artistically speaking, than the graphics RPG Maker gives you for free.
>>
Objectively speaking, most games made using AI are gonna be low effort slop, so this statistic isn't really damning. There are games made with AI that sell extremely well but their smaller proportion means the statistic is skewed against AI as a whole. These are the supposed gatekeepers of AI, the people who know how to use it to it's full potential and even then there is constant inconsistency, crummy and average output that even normalfags think is crap. At what point do we actually analyze how practical this shit even is? Is it because LLMs make the people who use it feel clever?

Not necessarily, that can easily be a shitty phone video of a guy dancing and using a character replacement model instead.

Your value hierarchy doesnt matter to anyone. The video exists because some far more important than you willed it into existence.
You’ve never created anything of value in your life, have you?

Everyone is using AI on the sheer technicality that professional grade software all had AI shoved into it, and the c suite pushes the employees to use it because they heard it's the next big thing. That technicality is meaningless.
>>744523454
Are you so retarded that you can't infer the answer? If nobody can tell that AI was used in a product, nobody would care. That has literally never been the case, though. This is always about shoddily genned art assets and voices. Nobody cares if someone used AI to write their spaghetti code if it works. Sounds and visuals are different.
So, when are we getting AI models that are capable of genning assets and sounds that are not distinguishable as AI? And if they already exist, where's the evidence?

Why? You don't like to know about it? Why do you want to be a less informed consumer? If it is unnecessary information to you, then don't bother with it. Some people watch trailers and pre-release streams for games, other people pick shit up cause it has a cool screenshot. I like to know if AI is used because then I look at the price of the product and if it is $60 or more and they're using AI then I have no interest in it.

As a consumer, AI must offer me some kind of benefit to accept it. Lower prices is the simplest solution.

AI slop is annoying but whining slop is annoying too. Arguably more so.

What about your Crypto stocks? Why did you stop investing in Bitcoin and put all your money in AI instead? Whats wrong with you luddite I thought Crypto was the future of banking and in the next 5 years all banks are crypto?
>>
Eventually they're going to make a good game with AI being used properly, like asking a random villager where something is, whats going on or whether they need help. Their answers should be limited to what they could know about, this would greatly improve an RPG like Skyrim if done properly, they could even let you use a microphone to ask questions if they wanted.
>>

>>
>>744523909
>>744523909
The problem is that AI has compromised the formula you’re describing(product = time + money).

On top of that, the general population is getting dumber, and AI is creating an additional “Dunning Kruger” effect on it’s users. AI is also a trillion dollar industry, yet is still somehow underperforming, but not in ways of advertising to you.

What this environment has created, is buyers that are buying AI-made or AI products and services, because of its perceived to cost less, or reduce labor(both debatable points).
>>
>>744524301

It is hilarious how many honest-to-God shills there are in this thread. Actual people who work for giant corporations and come here and tell you how to feel and what to do. There is no other explanation than these people are paid.
>"Hello. I am the consumer. I give you money for a product."

>"I want normal product."
>'WOW OKAY SO BASICALLY WE ALL USE AI ALREADY SO THERE IS NO REASON TO CARE OKAY YOU'RE A RETARDED LUDDITE STOP BEING A BIGOT YOU PIECE OF SHIT'

There is no other explanation for it. Consumers entirely decide what they want and it is up to businesses to provide the supply to the demand. How do you possibly argue with someone who has money in their hand? "No, Actually, you DO want the AI one!" I don't. Just like Classic WoW, you don't tell the consumers actually you want X and don't want Y. This is not a debate, a discussion, or a negotiation. I told you want I want, and you do it or you don't. For anyone old enough to remember it, this is very similar to the
>NO CGI BAD IT ONLY SCIFI MOVIE OF THE WEEK SHARKNADO
shit back in the day. As the tech improved, it became nearly universal and now there's no universal condemnation instead of how the tool itself is being used.

So much AI discussion is culture war current thing and that misses the point. Meanwhile, megacorp would be oligarchs fight over their proprietary models to be the one with the biggest fiefdom they can sell API access back to all the peasants "software as a service" style. We should be demanding self hosted, censorship free, open source , weight, and training data models rather than letting a handful of monied fucktards run everything high performance. So called OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, MetaZuccbot, Microshaft, and Amazon want you to scream like patreon tranny artists at each other while they pull the ladder up behind them

>>
>>744521303
>but it feels like it's bigger because everyone's got a megaphone
Actually it's because the goal is to make AI do not just one but all of the white-collar, creative, or otherwise not-manual-labor jobs. It'll take the rest after a few more advances in robotics.
And no, the whole world being unemployed doesn't mean you'll get paid to do nothing. Communism won't happen. You'll just die. That's actually the whole point. The elites won't need the world to have billions of people anymore.
>>
>>744525901
>it rewards the absolute laziest retarded double niggers
if a person has an option of using a shovel vs using a mechanical digger, if he chooses the mechanical digger, does that make him lazy? no.

you aren't talking about laziness. You're talking about a quality thing.
AI just isn't there yet (and likely will never be; considering the amount of human oversight it needs).

That being said, people might find other uses for ai. Like what you speak of, where quality isn't as crucial. people just want to know band is in town.

None-the-less, it's not "laziness" that's in question. it's quality. and considering this is largely about stellar blade, the quality clearly wasn't there. it was a bad music video.

Why Kim thought it was acceptable was the most egregious part of all of it.

the vast majority of people using ai won't use it responsibly like you, it is used for get-rich-quick-schemes and scams. If you look at s&box, it is dying because aisloppers make low effort games that give them a huge amount of revenue for minimum work.
>>
>>744517982
im pleasantly surprised to see this, but i still don't care for majoritarian arguments. Consumers often make stupid choices. Back when good media was still being made, it often wasn't being made to please the most amount of people. It was by forming its own sense of style, winning people over rather than conforming to their existing tastes.
If a person lived their whole life in a bunker and the only dvd they had was Boss Baby, they think boss baby is the height of kino. Giving them more boss baby is a safe business move, but if you were to show them The Matrix you'd blow their mind.
This is why consumer choices don't matter, i say this as someone who dislikes AI.

Factories are already minmaxed when it comes to automatization. They're already full of alien robot arms with 20+ joints moving on rails on the ceiling to maximise efficiency and space, so if you see a video of a humanoid robot doing factory jobs, you're watching a scam meant to fool investors.

And?
What point are you trying to make here?
'Everyone should live, you have a prerogative to stop using technological advancements because there's a risk that people will die!!!'

You seem to misunderstand a lot of how the world works mind you, so let's try to unravel your very superficial view of it; UBI will happen, you can communism, or socialism, or whatever, I don't really care, it was obvious from the start that it will happen, you can try to slow it down, you can screech about it, but it will happen, people will be phased out and automation will take over, we just got LLMs a bit sooner than most expected but that's not the matter of the issue.

So, now, you're going to get a world in which a lot of jobs are going down the drain, supposedly, all jobs will, because robots will be more efficient (well, depending on what the job is), now, those companies, where will they get their money from if everyone's unemployed?
Right, so, companies themselves have a prerogative to make sure that you, the retarded useless bum of melaninated skintone, have enough disposable income to spend on their product. Meaning that they will want to, and they will lobby governments to force UBI (or whatever other name you want to give it)

Is it going to suck for you low effort people? Yeah, it's going to suck for a little while, but, I'm okay with that, because I sure as fuck am not naive enough to think a world without AI will be better than a world with AI.

Of course you don't have to if you don't care, then they're basically common license models.

Translation: Using AI in sound sampling allows you to own the rights to the song, pushing AI button doesn't. If someone just takes the AI song and spreads it everywhere for free, theres nothing you can do about it.

So lets say you want to copyright your black knight dude, you have to have a human being recreate the whole armor manually and now you own the whole thing. If you don't do that, people still can't just rip your rig but they are free to use the model and the same design. Theres lot of gray area still there.

That's because you don't understand how businesses work, this is a field that promises so much that everyone wants to invest in it, and because of that, it's so competitive that you HAVE to run it on a loss and develop it as fast as possible because you want to have the control of it.

Look at it like this;
You're notch, you're making minecraft, you're still in beta, the game's doing ok, you're making a profit. All of a sudden, a dozen other games like this (and promising more or less the same experience, being more or less a clone of it) pop up, suddenly your margin goes down and people start playing those other games because they're developing faster or maybe they added a new feature that people want, doesn't matter. What do you do?
You can see that there's a huge market here, you can see that people would probably love to play your game if it was just a bit better, so do you risk hiring an extra couple devs to accelerate your dev'ing and adding more features faster, or do you just... not do that?

'but we're talking about billions of dollars'
Yes, and how much do you think the CEO of whichever AI company that will still be there in 10 years' time will be making on a yearly basis?

I don't mind being somewhat skeptical about how much or how fast AI will advance, but you're talking about scales and terms and, really, a world you simply do not understand.

Bro, if I had a miracle machine I would not increase my competition. Also, Sunday my guy, you're from Bangladesh or something? Lmao
Anyways, if you have time for 4chan you have time to spin another agent.

#2 you said irrelevant ones don't count, if there are not applications of it then it's irrelevant

>there's a pot of gold at the end of this rainbow.
How can you not believe that..?
Just in the medicinal and physics fields alone, AI allows to push boundaries that would otherwise take months or years of research to do, literally just use google bro, I don't care, you're obviously too far gone and thinking 'omg sloppa' as if it's any fucking different from all the slop you've been consuming your entire life.

>No it's not a huge market, people definitely don't want robots and AIs that'll do all their shit for them, no actually wall-E is a parody of the future and the people that watched it don't want to be those fatsoes on the spaceship being happy doing whatever they want, no, actually uhm, you see, people love working and doing shit haha
Nonsensical, illogical people, keep listening to your feefees like a dumb animal, I guess, idk, you'll die before I do no matter what.

A person does not need to be productive for each second of their life unless they're at work

valueable ≠ profitable ranjeesh

>spend trillions on technology
>now need to make a over a trillion to justify its existence
>uhhhhh we can... uh.... make it generate videos... uhhh... do coding?
>still costs money to run despite huge initial cost
>need to monetize it out the ass for profitability, thus defeating it's entire point, which was lowering costs
>will likely never turn a profit in the investors lifetimes, which is no bueno

cool!
>>
>>744529065
AI has obviously applications
gen AI, which makes up the bulk of this hype (and funding) is a meme
>>
>>744528997
You're a neet aren't you?
When was the last time you had a job? Did you ever?
How does your mom feel about that?

What else should we proclaim about each other based on absolutely nothing?

ok cool to see that you're shifting the goal-posts on your boyfriend's behalf

No, he initially asked for "breakthrough application, masterpiece game, significant art", see >>744527839
Breakthrough in this case is an adjective of the noun application. Though it can be used a noun it wasn't in this context.

Here we see the Pro-AI poster's desperate move-- he no longer replies to others because he is seething and has no arguements to make. All he can do is scream into the void, insisting that he's a chad, forgetting of course, he is on a mongolian basketweaving site.
>>
>>744528946
Just looked it up, apparently it copied the solution for #728 from a book from 2014. It's propaganda.
>>
>>744529205
not really relevant on page 10 but it was meant to describe a general program. you know, an application. most AI fags are codecels bragging about how productive they now are and yet I see no spectacular applications as a result
>>
>>744529113
But even that isn't wrong, the will smith eating spaghetti meme completely shit on your argument here
>but it's not good yet
???????????????

Maybe you're too young to understand how technology works, but back in my day, when there ugly ass low poly, 240p and below games released on the ps1 or n64, I was blown the fuck away and thought 'omg this look like real life!!!!!', and look at what we have now.
You seem to not have the mental capacity to deal with such hypotheticals, thoughbeit, so I'll leave it there.

>>744529128
If being neet means not working the weekends and ballwashing your boss's balls sure. Words kind of lost meanings with you guys.
Also damn, all three of you are so mad over my 1 reply lmaooo
Or did I anger you so much you just had to prepare three responses on different devices? so pathetic lol
>>
>>744529238
You’re annoying, stupid, argue dishonestly and in bad faith, constantly make completely baseless claims, have zero experience or understanding of technology, and are obnoxiously arrogant and aggressive about it.
Thats why you’re ignored. The sinple truth is youre just wrong bro, its ok, but its time to accept it. Hope this helps.

Big yikes
>>
>>744529304
The Pro-AI poster feels cornered and scared, resorting to random attacks, praying that something will stick. His insult of choice-- likely projection-- does not work.

nta but there was also that buzz with the jacobian conjecture from a month ago

You'll be caught, pedo. You're life is already over.

>>744529443
Surely if you say it every 3 minutes in every ai thread forever it will eventually have some kind of effect.
>>
>>744529298
Yeah, and he got fixated on the word "breakthrough" that he assumed the adjective was used a noun. Instead of "breakthrough application" he focused on "breakthrough" then refuses to elaborate on what he was actually asked: Classic case of deflection, typical of aijeets
>>

I'm actually getting tired of winning (I'm not but I want to say that to emphasize just how often we win).
