Okay so just my experience so far around the level 27ish mark, the grind is much less forgiving than the original.
The new damage and defense calculation they're using can fuck you up heavily since you're taking up to 100-150 hp worth of damage at the equivalent level in the 20s range from monsters like zombie mushroom. This means defense matters a lot more, but this is also compounding the huge potion scarcity.

That's another problem, KPQ exists as a checklist for quest completion and not for actually partying together. Basic grinding itself requires a lot more evasive and careful play thanks to the high damage of the monsters. I have no idea why the beta is so comically stacked against the player.

I've gotten to 30 so far and it definitely isn't a cakewalk. However I do think a lot of people just don't know what to do or are not adapting at all. It's definitely slow and feels like playing old maplestory that feels rough early on, but I'm still making progress just fine, if not a bit on the slower end.
I've just seen a lot of people doing things that isn't really going to work and I guess they are new and don't know any better or are just not adapting to the situation that it's a fresh server with no economy and everything is much harder untill things start to settle. Even then first character is always a struggle to build up, but thats what you sign up for when you play an older mmo and I find that to be really fun.

I agree with you though it's like they looked at a spreadsheet and decided any move that was used too much had to be nerfed or removed regardless as to whether that was the whole point of the class.
