All I know is FW totally fucked up by having every character be in their own small, self contained nothing burger of a story because there will never be discussions like this about it. I think that 3H and the debates surrounding it will last for a while but FW just has nothing like this to discuss.

Even without the cliff drop, Thales' spell launches a blocking Byleth halfway across the entire mountain Garreg Mach is on. Shambhala has to be blitzed by Byleth's army at its best after a lot of the Agarthans' other forces have been defeated on the surface, and if the Agarthans aren't overly focused on Sothis, the nuclear option could bomb all of Fodlan out of spite.
