I really love how all the arena matches are framed as historical re-enactments of famous battles in their world, it's a really cool overarching theme for the battles. And despite the broadly shared skeleton between the main stories, each hero's story is actually rather distinct. You really can employ very different strategies with the different characters. Enhanced even further by the core mechanical differences of each hero. An unbelievably successful step up from 3H. And though there are large differences between FW and Engage, it has learned good things from it too. Then again there are clear influences from Awakening and even influences from even older and more classic FE games. Perhaps because a lot of FW's skeleton appears to stem, indirectly or not, from that cancelled Wii game way back when. It kind of shows. Regardless FW is stellar. It really is wonderful.

Alright so S rank magic in part 3 is incredibly easy if you have turns to burn. The ancient tower of ash has magic manuals as a search result and because you can create multiple squads you can search the spot multiple times in a single turn. The rng seed is determined upon exiting Dagsion, and since entering and exiting the city doesn't consume a turn in part 3 you can exit Dagsion, check to see if you got manuals for that turn, and reload the save if you don't like the results, enter and exit to get a new seed, and try again.

There is merit to magic, because of the Agarthan dungeons you can get anyone stuff like mire or death, but there's only one dark spikes scroll in the game. I'd say a unit's personal black magic list isn't that important, but there are some outliers such as thunder magic for rain maps. Can't see much of a use for wind since it's only x2 effectiveness on fliers and forged bows have a high enough might for it to not matter. Anyone who can get seraphim or starlight will be pretty good in the early game but will be too slow to double once you're only fighting underworld enemies. White magic for support is obviously good but is entirely dependent on if the unit gets something like warp, rescue, freeze or berserk.
