You can see this going all the way back to Final Fantasy House, which was Final Fantasy VII. You can also see this more recently with Barry and XV, and there's also a schizo who attached himself to XIII, and I think it may be the same schizo who attached himself to VII. The trend that I've noticed is that every Final Fantasy that attracts 4chan schizos is a trilogy. All of the trilogies are "nuFF" as well. XIII, XV, and VIIR. Every Final Fantasy game that Square Enix has forced to become a decade long trilogy or multimedia experience has a schizo. XIII was the first one they tried to turn into another Final Fantasy VII, Lightning was even very specifically crafted to be a female Cloud, and it was also part of Fabula Nova Crystallis, which was a trilogy of games. XV, formerly Versus XIII was part of FNC as well and went on to have Barry and become a multimedia experience with tons of DLC that had a decade long, public development hell. Then there's VIIR, which has the existing Final Fantasy VII schizos who have been arguing Tifa vs Aerith for 30 years, and it also has nuschizos who saw an opportunity the opportunity to "be a part of" Final Fantasy VII, which they didn't get to "be a part of" the first time around. Basically, I think the issue is that most of the more recent Final Fantasy titles have been decade long endeavors (and trilogies) which create an environment that allows schizos to germinate and fester. So just as a natural consequence of a decade-long experience that people decide to attached their core identity to, nuFF threads become late-stage /vg/ threads where it's just the same handful of people triggering decade-old schizo drama, sometimes extending to off-site schizophrenia, and the circle just goes round and round.
