The gacha system is great. Tailoring the reward system in a way that 0.01% of the playerbase pays for a AAA tier experience that millions can play for (almost) free is good. I've gotten thousands of hours of top tier entertainment out of these games without spending a single cent.
I have yet to see this picture attached to a post that's not written by a gigantic faggot.

>top tierdebatable, most of the content in gacha games is very, very subpar
I agree, whales funding it so I can play free is nice. What's bad about it is every company thinks they can get lucky with their own gacha, so it tanks everything they do (see: Sony). Other downside would be retards who can't control themselves and spend money on the game instead of groceries.I do wish I'd be able to do abyss in genshin one of these days.
>>748954629>a AAA tier experienceImagine unironically saying this like it's a good thing.
>>>/vmg/
>>748954629Based but the sois won't like this
>>748954629>AAA tier experience>GachaNot sure if bait or retarded
>>748954714Yea that's what all my favorite tubers say
>>748954775>>748954723I think he was meaning budget but not all of the have AAA budgets, most cap out at AA
>>748954629Gacha is communism that allows poor people to feel like they're apart of something. Same with F2P and people watching streamers.
>>748954629I'm not sure why you think this is exclusive to gacha games. Is Fortnite a gacha game? Are MOBAs gacha games? Having a f2p game with cosmetic store makes it a gacha?
You know what, the experience of games with any kind of P2W mechanic drastically changes once you have money. When you're broke you literally CAN'T spend and that's why you deal with the grind and RNG and you feel amazing when you get the thing you want. But once you actually have some cash lying around it feels fucking retarded to grind for 2 weeks instead of dropping 20 bucks, and that instantly ruins everything because you rob yourself of the sense of accomplishment.
>>748954819*themMy keyboard is shit
>>748954853that's a stupid ass mentality, you should not be so goybraind as to find chores and grinding satisfying
>>748954853Pretty much, the fun is in the struggle and making due and excelling with what you can get and when you buy everything it ruins it unless you're the kind of person who enjoys that
>>748954629The gacha system being tailored for whaling just reduces the quality of the overall experience (worse, generally unreadable aesthetics) and most companies lock down their game to remove dedicated servers and mod support that could compromise cash shop shit. They usually also heavily rely on "engagement" AKA transparent use of cult tactics and sunk cost fallacies to keep people coming back instead of just making the game fun.
>>748954898>chores and grindingWhy is this meme so popular? Most have very little of both these days
>>748954928>lock down modalmost all of them have a ton of mods
Well, I personally think that systems that prey on the weak minded a detrimental to society and should be outlawed.
>>748954986really? most of the stuff in gacha are daily and weekly tasks, and repeating event tasks that are also timegatedmost people don't do them because they are fun or engaging but because they need to to acqurie the rewardsthose, in real games, are considered chores and not really "gameplay"
>>748954629Regular games do this too. They come out at $60 or $70 or $80 so the people who value time more than disposable income subsidize the people who value disposable income more than time who will wait 2 years and browse sales sites so they can get it 65% off.
>>748955026Those daily tasks are nothing, a bonus for playing consistently that you don't feel if you don't Weekly stuff is usually something you're already doing if you're actually playing the gameA lot of people make a big deal out of these because the only reason they play is to roll for characters to collect and not engage in the game beyond that, which makes playing the game at all a chore to them
>>748955136The problem is that many (if not most) modern games are not designed with deep engaging systems, so their main hook is the participation in the "current thing". It's basically like the latest hollywood movie, it's shit but everybody is talking about it and you get your fun out of that.
>>748955176problem is many gachas dont' allow you to play for as much as you wantgfL2 for example has no repeatable content, it only has weekly and daily and timegated one time only tasks
>>748955176And that last part is why so many people beg for everything to have auto battle, so they can turn it on, watch youtube, then shut it off until they have enough to roll the new character
>>748955242Many of the ones I play have lots of repeatable content, really the tower defense ones that have challenge maps and events
>>748954629If all you care about is the price then why not just pirate or emulate games that are infinitely better than a skinner box grind fest?
>>748955354all games are skinner boxes
>>748955025I genuinely don't get why casinos and gambling are legal. They are mathematically guaranteed to lose people money and millions of retards ruin their live with them and then have to be funded with taxes. It's literally just draining money from the people.
>>748955386because we should let fools and their money part because it teaches them a lessonwhy would you want to deliberately coddle retards? just like them naturally select themselves out of existence
>>748955386well gambling is human nature, people are going to do it anywayThe issue lies in casinos rigging the system to fuck people over
>>748954674That was always the intent of the painting. "I may be a retarded phillistine, but I'll confidently spout my gibberish in public (provided it isn't a bad goy opinion) while portaying myself as the confident man people look up to". Norman Rockwell was supportive of every stupid movement of his time, and expressed it in that dreadful naive style, that painting is the mid 20th century equivalent of a Chad saying "yes" to nonsense.
>>748955207That sounds like a normalfag/tourist problem. I just play old/indie games with engaging mechanics.
>>748955428>because it teaches them a lessonWe both know that it doesn't. >why would you want to deliberately coddle retards?I just told you, because retards ruining their lives hurts us all. >they become broke We pay for their social security.>they get ill We pay for their healthcare.>"Well, then don't pay them.">we don't pay themThey become criminals and hurt, kill, rob people. And WE have to pay for the police, the lawyers, the judges and the jail. >"well, just kill them" We would STILL have to pay for that. I hate low life people as much as everyone else but the simple reality is that you can't ignore them, you actively have to stop them from ruining their own lives or we're all suffering for it. Of course the jews don't want this, because they are the ones raking in the money.
>>748955637Sounds like you want AI surveillance to predict what people could do so you can remove the undesirables in waiting
>>748955386>They are mathematically guaranteed to lose people moneyThis is particularly insidious because the way small biases change the outcome is completely unintuitive to most people. Like let's say you lose $100 and decide you'll "keep playing until you win it back".For a fair 50:50 game that's an almost reasonable thing to do, there's a chance you'll lose horribly and possibly go broke, but in the long run, as long as you can keep pumping money in, there's a decent chance you'll end up making more money than you lost at some point just on the natural swings of unbiased random walks.Swing the odds to something like 49:51 and your chances of making back any money go catastrophically south, you end up with close to 0% chance of ever just breaking even and can pretty much kiss your savings goodbye if you can't cut your losses. This doesn't apply to gacha because you just lose no matter what
>>748955717You really think I would hold such an opinion and NOT be anti-AI? No, I just want to outlaw gambling where the house has a mathematical edge, for example.
>>748954674TRVKE
>>748955831Oh, that's a surprisingly sane notion
>>748955786gacha isn't gambling because you are guaranteed a win after a set point
>>748955786This, by the way, is also why 90% of traders lose money in trading. Technical it's a 50/50 if the line goes up or down BUT to execute at market price you always have to pay a few and deal with slippage so in reality it's a 50.05/49.95 and that WILL eventually fuck you unless you have insider information.
>>748956001well in trading you are tryng to predict 2 things at once, when to buy and when to sell, if you fail any of the two you loseyour chances are not 50/50 to earn money, your chances are 50/50 to predict when to buy correctly, then another 50/50 to predict when to sell correctly, so in total only a 12.5% chance to be right twice in a row
>>748955831>No, I just want to outlaw gambling where the house has a mathematical edgeI'd love to see casinos where patrons can play Blackjack and count cards and win and it's illegal to kick people out because they're doing this. THAT would be pretty cool to see, as then the place would have to be clever and actually offer entertainment people would want to pay for and suffer the risks of people actually beating their games. It would be fair to have games that 'trick' plebs who play poorly and hence earn a profit from that to some extent, but chips should work like car loans and people who are actually gambling their lives away should be denied entry unless they can show they can afford the losses.
>>748954629>gambling for JPGslollmao
>>748956001>>748956093I recently learned that it's totally common practice for brokers to not actually facilitate trades between two people, but just to take the opposite position of what people are opening because they know this.
