>The 24 hour Lemmings challenge
Are you watching that at the designated stream too right now? I really like it but I think it's carried a lot by a skits that came out of it. The best moment is when Arino got so tired and delirious by the afternoon he's layering like 10 cooling pads all over himself just to stay awake. But this is like a couple of hours out of the entire 24 that's good. A lot of it is just Arino getting stuck and a lot of the time for stupid reasons.

Number of episodes doesn't always denote how long a challenge is.
Like how Battletoads, F-zero and Märchen Maze were challenged in a single day each, but because they got so much usable footage from them, they just made them 2 parters.
Besides He beat the easy route by mid day.
>>
>>749008541
The current directors like to play around too much with gimmicks these days. Some AD has to walk on doing some kind of skit. They can't just walk on with a folding chair anymore and say "Ok I'm here to help you" while Arino messes with them. And yes, they did do some skits in the past but it wasn't every single episode. These days there is always someone in an outfit cosplaying some stupid shit.
>>
I grew up and realized airno was never funny, the narration is what made the show great, arino is just boring, his jokes are boring and the way he treats the staff is just awful.
>>
>>748999613
he sucks at games. the commentary is too tame. the variety of games he plays is very limited. sometimes the narration skips over higher-difficulty parts of the game. just overall uninteresting
>>
>>749010638
Oh fuck off, I liked the AD who did cosplay for everything, especially when they were all done well on a cheap budget.
>>
>>749004330
Why are they using composite? That TV clearly has svideo and some other stuff they could be using.
In more than one episode arino got stuck in a game because the image was so crap he couldn't read the text on the screen.

I do wonder why Arino never appeared on the No Laughing New Years Batsu, but he does his own New Years event and IIRC, there's some rule that you can't be on two shows that broadcast at the same time, or something like that.
It's like how they had that celebrity guest star at the start with them on the bus for the detective batsu, but he gets dragged away early.

That's a good point, since Arino and Gaki belong to rival agencies.
If you want some uplifting news, Kan went to Chicago last spring to visit the largest Arcade in the US and met some GCCX fans there since he gave a week heads up for it, even though it was mid day during a weekday, so there is a chance the show comes back to America.

Probably clinging to hope that it gets an official release still along with not want to encourage piracy. Becuase the current GCCX fansubbing group tracks which countries download their stuff and a lot of them are from Japan. This is why they not only avoid subbing more recent DVD challenge, but no one who imports them uploads them either.
>>
>>749013301
>Because the current GCCX fansubbing group tracks which countries download their stuff and a lot of them are from Japan.
I hope they realize part of this is because the Japanese economy is going to shit. Even the Japanese who are usually morally against pirating on top of their strict laws are running to piracy because they don't have the money to waste on dvd box sets. I understand supporting the show but I think the people downloading the episodes are people who can't buy the dvds. It's not going to result in more sales either way.

They should just release it with subtitles this time, instead of the awful fucking narrator they did last time. But most Americans are deadly afraid and incapable of reading subtitles so that's not happening
Also they cut away the comfy arcade segments and all that as well, but as far as i know they are not on the official dvd's anyway because of rights reasons so i guess that's just how it is
>>
All this show made me realize is how incredibly dirty everything is in Japan. Their shops have, like, mud floors, and everything's caked in a film of filth. It's like the nukes dropped last week.
>>
>>749013593
You're completely missing how that's the charm of it. All the big stores tourists run to clean and spotless. They look for the weird mom and pop shops where the guy running the place has weird misspelled signs all over the place, garbage on the floor, and has a giant pot of oden boiling in the back for some reason and you can get a cup of it for 100 yen.

As the other Anon has stated they are mostly shut down, but also they were mostly just ran out of the back of their literal homes. So they will likley just renovate them to be regular homes again. Most candy shops were just a retirement thing for old people to do, not something they did for their whole lives
>>

>but as far as i know they are not on the official dvd's anyway because of rights reasons so i guess that's just how it is
You're correct, the DVDs are a licensing shitshow which is why they normally only include Arino's challenge. Shit, even getting the licenses for games they already played for the DVDs is a pain. Like we only got actraiser on DVD recently and that was a super early challenge.
