too old for what?
You're not even trying to make a remotely decent thread.

Even a 6700k is more than enough. You have to be running some truly ancient rig, probably ddr3 as well, to not meet gaymen standards.
>>749005020I have mac mini 2014 with a haswell 4278u. I's still enough to play AAA games up to 2014, and many later lightweight or 2D games.
>>749005020>officiallywho made it official?

>>749005020My cpu is literally from 2013, is an i7 4000 something
Why would I need a CPU stronger than a Ryzen 5 3600 if I rarely play modern games?
>>749005020According to that article, no.
>>749005020Still running a Ryzen 5 5660x but I may upgrade soon.
>>749005748a faster CPU affects everything you do on your computer. people often forget that its the brain of your computer and without it your $5000 5090 doesnt work and a shitty cpu will hold it back.
i got my i7 10700 in 2020 and i just overcocked it and it feels brand new
Is Ryzen 5 5600 on the list?
>>749005860people also often forget windows is demanding more and more.>I'm still on windows 95 this doesn't affect methat's just a self report
>>74900598411 24H2 LTSC is the lightest version of Windows to date. It even runs on a DX10 GPU. 11 Home requires a DX12 GPU.
>>749005082kek
>>749005020>pls upgrade you;re processor saar
>AMD Athlon X4 750KOh yeah absolutely, and yet it keeps working. The most recent "demanding" game it has gotten me through was Baldur's Gate 3. For the most part the framerates were more than playable. Once you get a lot of people on screen however, the situation turns dire. Walking around lower city I'd regularly get 20fps, maybe even a little lower. It was never bad enough to prevent me from playing and I've beaten it several times. When will I replace it and upgrade? When it stops working.
>>749005020I used a 4790k until last year when I upgraded to a 9800x3d. I really loved that CPU and it was a work horse until it's final days.
>>749006247Damn broI remember some time during that era people were buying some X3 Athlons and unlocking the 4th core and overclocking the CPU as much as possibleBut those things were underpowered even when they got launched. Keeping yours for all this time is some dedication>>749006307>i7 4790kThat one was an absolute power house and it's probably still very usable for most non Unreal Stutter 5 titles
>>749005020my 5600X is still holding up well
Mine is over 10 years old and has no issues.Few things are CPU-bound nowadays.
>>749005860Computers got a lot faster for general use since the introduction of SSDs/NVMe drives. There is only so much a faster CPU does for you when the actual bottleneck was storage for literal decades. And for gaming there is just a certain CPU threshold to avoid the bottleneck. Barely anyone overclocks any more. If they do, it's probably because they find it fun. Overclocking for performance is not really a thing any more>>749006910As it should, it's still new(ish) hardware unless you're a Pajeet making stupid articles for clicks
>>749005020My i5 2500k runs games that comes out in 2026 fine. Gaming is 90% about GPU.
>>749005748So you can play dwarf fortress and stave off fps death a little longer
>>749005049I don't know what OP's clickbait says, but there are older CPUs that lack certain instruction sets needed by a lot of modern software.I forget which ones, but IIRC you have to go back 10-15 years to be missing them.
>>749007009what a load of old bollocks. 2500k has been struggling for years now you fucking liar, and i should know because i've fucking got one.
>>7490057172500k was significantly cheaper and could overclock higher (back when that actually mattered) and a decent # of games benefited from the higher clock-speed vs hyper threading.
>>749006773You're thinking of the AM2+/AM3 socket Athlons. Mine is from the bulldozer/steamroller era on the FM1/FM2 socket. Still shit, just slightly newer and different shit.
>>749007235>>749007235Did you upgrade to 2133mhz ram? That was a pretty big performance boost back when I had my 2500k
>these are the people who tell you DLSS 5 sucks
>>749007281emulators loved having double the threads. it was one of the major innovations going from a core 2 quad to a core i7.
I5 12400 bros we still got this, do not upgrade and keep saving money
>>749007349>You're thinking of the AM2+/AM3 socket Athlons.Probably so. Are you thinking about getting anything new at all?>>749007428Not him, but investing any money into such an old system is a serious waste. At that point just bear with it until you can get something better.
>>74900758450 bucks for a 30% performance boost (assumed 4.6ghz) is still viable imo
>>749007583I have an i5 11400, it's great. My bottleneck is the GTX 1650 Super GPU that I wanted to upgrade before the prices got out of hand. >>749007624I imagine every single newer game would stutter like crazy on a 4 core CPU without HT, getting higher fps doesn't matter when you're hitting 100% usage with frame drops anyway
>>7490050207600XIt's ok, but won't survive a GPU upgrade from my current 9070XT without becomming bottleneck2027 unreal slop releases will be true test for it to see if it can survive until the 10800X3D or not
>i7 3770kit's definitely too old but desu the only problem i have is with UE5 games
>>749005020Yeah. Old CPUs literally lost performance over time after all of the CPU vulnerabilities that needed to get patched.
>>749005639I'm unironically still running this in my rig.Need a new mobo to upgrade so I'm just going to keep using it until one of them dies, or I run out of old/ low spec games to play.

>>749007235I'm literally playing YSX Proud Nordics at this moment. ON A FUCKING WINDOWS 7. Learn2computer anon.
>>749007994>2027 unreal slop releases will be true test for itAre there even Unslop games worth playing, let alone upgrading over? Genuinely there is something about UE5 games that makes me reconsider getting them when I find out they run on it. I immediately think of poor performance, stutter, the graphics that look awfully similar to other UE5 slop and low effort releases in general.
>>749008207Your CPU can handle a a more powerful GPU if the prices ever come back to normal. Still looking good though
this and 16 gigs of ddr3 have gotten me through the past decade and a half, i will use this until either it or I dies.

>>749008189>You could have built a solid system before RAMapocalypseBut anon before the RAMpocalypse there was Cryptocalypse, did you forget? I built my PC during the worst time for GPUs, so I ended up with 11400, 16gb ddr4 and gtx 1650 super. I had a brief window to get something like 9060 xt 16gb, but it's way too expensive nowHonestly though, it runs fine for what I need it to do>>749008696My bet is on you. I skipped out on x3d and went normal because I wanted to keep power draw and heat to a minimum.
>>749008638No. Every UE5 has been absolute dogshit. Not even 5/10 mid titles.
In January 2020 i built a new machine with a Ryzen 3800x. Early last year I impulse bought a Ryzen 5800XT for $129, which was mildly better though did seem to help with fps lows. Now that DDR5 is priced to retardation I will probably stick with my current system a few more years. Crazy my current system is almost 7 years old, where did this decade go? It still doesn't feel slow either which is why I was in no rush to upgrade.
>>749009831You will get uneven frame times and frame drops on any newish games you try to run even if averages aren't badTo be honest, I like that CPUs in general last a long time now. The fact that it's usable at all is a massive feat. I consider anything with 6 cores + HT modern enough to see this generation of consoles until the end

Being "the person behind all Aqua replies of a given thread" means there is an avatar. It is a completely different subject with signatures though. The real argument should be that aquajeet adopted aqua as a signature. But this logic doesn't hold for similar reasons (so every reaction image is a signature now?)
