Basically the developers are lazy Californians who just wanted to milk Riot for an easy salary, but Riot finally woke up and realized how retarded of a money sink they were and forced them to finally release the game, and despite being in development for 10+ years they still somehow only had around 10 characters at launch for a TAG game. They needed 5-6 digit player counts just to break even monetarily due to their free to play model and longass development time, and naturally they didn't get even a fraction of that.
