It does not feeling much like a Castlevania game. I think an apt way of describing it is they wanted to make a Metroidvania first and Castlevania second, rather than Castlevania first and anything else as a secondary. Look at Symphony of the night and then compare it to a traditional Castlevania, and then compare both with the new one. Look at the music, the visuals and the overall feel. The issue isn't about whether the game is good or not, it's that it's a indie Metroidvania with a Castlevania skin.

The ones with the seals on them (for a visual reference, check the save room over by the set of western elevators in the Clock Tower and you'll see) are for one of the bosses since they're mentioned on an arcana card.

And is absolutely derivative of pretty much any metroidvania indieslop you see on the shop these days. OST fucking sucks too. I will grant the story for at least being interesting though. And I'm not really sure why people are sperging about the story. The Belmonts have always been prideful and stubborn assholes. It's the flaw of their bloodline. I don't see how people say Leon got ruined when being a bit overzealous about killing the night is family tradition. Simon literally said fuck to all caution and risk to mankind and resurrected Dracula himself to cure his magic curse cancer. Richter literally got mind controlled (by a nere grunt of Dracula even, not the Dark Lord himself) because of a midlife crisis and him wanting a non-boring life. Julius, the greatest Belmont and the one that actually killed Dracula for good stood out in that he seemed to be the only Belmont that tried to be more than a holy murderhobo, attempting to see Dracula (i.e. Soma) as a man fighting his demons and being empathetic to his struggle to remain good. This more forgiving and discerning nature is probably what makes Julius stand out from other Belmonts.Though it just makes it funnier that after Rose pulled the whole: "huurr duuurr we must be better Belmonts" thing, she had to endure around five more centuries of bullheaded jackass descendants until she actually got a Belmont that took her teachings to heart.

With contact damage, you have to hop over small enemies if you want to get past and not fight them, and the bigger enemies require higher platforms, or they just full on stop you. For a franchise that prides itself on being challenging this game seems weirdly easy?I've only beaten Fallen and and Jeon so far but they really weren't too much of a challenge and neither are the enemies or platforming, Medusa is giving me some pain tho but she seems to be an outlier I've only really played Dracula X and a bit of SOTN.Now why is it that indie devs have this bizarre fucking obsession with dark souls?
