I read that apparently the government is planning to integrate Claude into staffer "AI tools" I'm pretty much convinced most of the government is working with AI, and its primarily Claude. In terms of power and wealth I would say Claude is at the top, but as an LLM I don't really care for it. It's just more popular, though I prefer GoogleAnthropic was smart and focused on targeting corporations, businesses, start-up companies, colleges, schools, etc. They didn't give a fuck about the everyday man. And it paid off in spades because now they have government contracts and are being used by probably every fortune 500 company as their main LLM. OpenAI started out as just something fun for tech nerds and everyday people to play around with. Same thing for Gemini as well. They were trying to make an LLM that was easy and friendly to use, so people could ask it simple questions or things to make their lives easier. Claude went to where the money was. Businesses, industry, coding, etc. Anthrophic didn't want people to use Claude for dumbshit stuff like "Claude how do I wipe my ass hurr"

App has come to refer to a type of global, leveraged software business, not a computer program.>Because AI is so good at writing software, in only an hour or so, I was able to add community ratings. AI will cause a renaissance of self reliance in the art space that the entertainment industry will use every last resource to squash, and in the process governments will take advantage by requiring IDs to use the internet both to protect the people bribing them and to squash any form of political dissent turning every single country in the world into their own little dictatorships in denial. Children will be raised thinking this is normal and the death of liberty in all forms will be complete, returning us to a feudal era fueled by tribalism and misinformation where 90% of the population is expendable cattle, peasants who can only afford the most processed slop for sustenance designed to give them cancers that will kill them before 50 to control the world's population if they aren't outright culled.Furthermore malware will become rampant as AI used by foreign actors will find every vulnerability ever conceived and some never conceived and exploit the shit out of them. Even if they don't take your computers (they will) you will be pozzed, gaped, then raped at some point by one of many endless vectors and backdoors that have been put into your tech over the years.Anyone who gains any form of traction in trying to unfuck things will be mercilessly slaughtered or framed for heinous shit via generated AI which not a soul will question, for none will remember a time when they had free will.We are witnessing the death of freedom and truth in real time.Again, not really AI's fault, it's merely unintentionally provided the cudgel that the tyrant will use to bludgeon both history and your rights to death.

It's actually retarded to sit at a screen typing out hundreds of lines of stuff to do something you can describe in a couple of sentences, when the code to do that thing has been published over and over and over by dozens of peopleVibe coding takes care of the stupid drudgework of coding and lets you spend that time on the things that actually make your idea unique

But damn, it makes things worse.I don't see anything wrong with AI in principle if you put the same care into the work but no slopper ever does. >>749782665>>749780529It is just a tool. No different from how engines like Unity were seen as slope generators, because they were easy way for people to make slop.AI is no different. By default it will produce generic, barely functional slop. It still requires a lot of time and a vision to actually work towards in order to achieve something even half-decent. AI just does its best to follow your commands, and the less precise those commands are, the more it will make average choices for you. Just like public engines already come prepackaged with some basic models and physics and whatnot.

>>749784376>but how exactly does one quantify qualities like effort and passion? In terms of gaming it's the game's polish, how well you refine your mechanics for the best feeling gameplay possible. For instance Wolverine is horrifically unpolished and janky, you can tell based on how the character moves there was no effort put into making a good game. There was no passion or something so simple would've been done right. It's the polish and balancing process that determines passion but to polish a game properly you need to understand it, you need to understand what your values do and why they work the way you do. For example, if your character did a shitty mocapped haymaker and sent an enemy flying across the map it'd look like dogshit no matter how many fancy particle effects you use. You need to refine the animation, refine the character's movement ensure you put appropriate knock back to make the blow feel good and look good. You can't do that if you can only use vague words because the subtleties of the punch won't be understood. In terms of AI it's obvious when we discuss AI art. What gets AI art called slop, why can people pin it no matter how good it's prompted because it has distinct effects born of blending artists together that leads to weird oddities that stand out. Those that only prompt create slop because there's no understanding behind it. Those that put in a modicum of effort by inpainting can make something that might stand on it's own a bit more as the AI isn't guessing nearly as much. But that requires effort and passion for what you're doing. Most AI prompters are like the AAA industry. No passion, just shit out something and expect praise and adoration.

They jump to ill-informed conclusions about complicated things they don't understand, and they mistake their ability to bullshit themselves about things they don't understand with understanding the thing. Opportunities are constantly coming bu going and the way to get rich is to notice one and seize the shit out of it, failing most of the time, but learning and becoming more capable, and eventually you will grab one and succeed. But if you are oblivious to the opportunities, or worse see them and then shit out an uninformed opinion that it's stupid or a scam, you will never advance from where you are. That's why the poor are poor, and why it's unsurprising that the Always Wrong people are looking at the opportunity of their lifetimes and saying "that's dumb/a scam."You right now, for example, have the opportunity to rise in your career, and you won't because you've decided AI is stupid and a scam that you're too smart for. And so other people will seize that opportunity and you'll be poor.

>>749780529People are mad at this?Im sorry."People" are mad at this? This is objectively correct.I appreciate art because of the human mind behind it. If an AI made Fallout New Vegas 2, Id feel nothing but apathy, if Im being honest. What does a predictive text model have to say about society? It's human experiences cant shape the work because it has none. One of my favorite things is reading about some of the people who worked on my favorite films.I like knowing about the little specializations some people had that they brought to the project. To me It's interesting as hell that McCarthy is such a gun autist that when he went on the set for No Country for Old Men he spent most of his time talking with the armorer.I like knowing that both of them know more about guns than Ill ever forget. I like knowing they are obsessed with and have lived human experiences with this little, but very important and easy to overlook, part of a movie as specialists to keep it authentic. And if they make a mistake, I like that It's a human error, not a % chance of AI hallucination. In AAA gaming the little specializations people have are mattering less and less as dev sizes balloon and the workflow gets more strict, but that's still better than the no human creativity you get with AI
I’m not even kidding, the real hammer drops the week GTA 6 launches—when a fully playable PC port drops on torrents within days via automated decomp/recomp.A private group has been sitting on a undisclosed NVMe controller firmware exploit that cracks the latest PS5 firmware wide open. They are holding this 0-day for the explicit purpose of dumping the GTA 6 files on day one. From there, a team is waiting to unleash a genuine swarm of ~1,000 abliterated and SOTA cloud agents to rapidly reverse-engineer and recompile the game for PC at a speed never seen outside frontier labs. It’s going to cause an historic shitstorm. Rockstar will lead the charge on the nightly news demanding federal AI regulation, and dozens of AAA publishers and software giants will immediately fall in line crying about IP infringement and "national cybersecurity."The government will step in and pull the ladder up>anything remotely capable gets locked behind enterprise-only licensing.>regular consumers get permanently held back 1–2 years behind the frontier.>full crypto-style KYC/ID verification required just to prompt a cloud model.>total ban on open-weight models once they finish choking out consumer hardware availability so you can't run anything locally. If you haven't caught on yet, AI is the modern nuclear bomb. Whoever reaches the end of the rainbow first keeps all the gold and rules as god-kings. Two months ago there was a massive capability leap in lab, and just last week a breakthrough in exponential training acceleration.Enjoy the free PC port cause you'll either be out of a job in 6 months, or dead in the dirt if China gets there first.
>>749786281it's like billionaires are entitled to wreck the world as if it's their playground and tone deaf about the people living aorund them. didn't they just state that anthropic data centers warn about AI replicating our household devices?
>>749786241Lifetime of a GPU in the center is 3~5 years. They use them until failure because everyone is compute constrained, you need to squeeze every clock cycle you can out of those fuckers. But if you think about the amount of labor they replace they are better for the environment than training feeding and equipping an army of human coders. Water usage is a meme, the total amount is very very small even considering all planned construction up to 2030.
>>749785291>In terms of gaming it's the game's polish, how well you refine your mechanics for the best feeling gameplay possible. This does not describe a process for measuring and reproducing precise results, anon.>For instance Wolverine is horrifically unpolished and janky, you can tell based on how the character moves there was no effort put into making a good game. This is an opinion, anon. Not a fact. >There was no passion or something so simple would've been done right. This is another opinion. >It's the polish and balancing process that determines passion but to polish a game properly you need to understand it, you need to understand what your values do and why they work the way you do. So your hypothesis is that polish and balancing determine passion. Unless you can substantiate this, then I can easily make the argument that polish requires no passion and it would hold the same weight. Also, values are subjective. Unless you can prove that all human beings value the same things, then you cannot consider personal values to be of objective value.>For example, if your character did a shitty mocapped haymaker and sent an enemy flying across the map it'd look like dogshit no matter how many fancy particle effects you use. This is an opinion. >You need to refine the animation, refine the character's movement ensure you put appropriate knock back to make the blow feel good and look good. This is also an opinion. >You can't do that if you can only use vague words because the subtleties of the punch won't be understood.I'm guessing you are referring to prompting. Unless you can prove that this is the case, then this is, again, an opinion. >In terms of AI it's obvious when we discuss AI art. Not always. There have been documented instances of humans not being able to tell the differencesWill continue next post.

>>749786398>What gets AI art called slop, why can people pin it no matter how good it's prompted because it has distinct effects born of blending artists together that leads to weird oddities that stand out. Again, it has been documented that there have been instances of people not being able to identify "art" generated by an AI vs "art" that was handmade by a human being. >Those that only prompt create slop because there's no understanding behind it. No understanding behind what, the art or the prompt? I would argue that neither of these are accurate. I have lots of experience prompting images in DALL-E 3. Each one of them required meticulous wording to not only get the image I had in mind, but also to work around the limitations imposed by it. It would often take dozens of generations and revisions to the prompt's schema to get something I thought was worth keeping. Also, you used the word *only*. Does that imply that you believe people who do handwritten work *do* have a better understanding of "art" as you define it? Does that mean that the images they generate with their prompts meet your standards simply because the person has experience with handmade art? Does it matter how much experience they have? If so, how much? >Those that put in a modicum of effort by inpainting can make something that might stand on it's own a bit more as the AI isn't guessing nearly as much.I'm not really sure I understand what you mean by this. >But that requires effort and passion for what you're doing. Most AI prompters are like the AAA industry. No passion, just shit out something and expect praise and adoration. These are all opinions, anon. None of them provide me with a way to quantify the value of an artwork based on "passion" or "quality".

AI isn't replacing human made mechanics, it's replacing human written code, there is a massive fucking difference here and it's the same thing as saying that digital artists aren't "real" artists because they use a 'puter instead of a pencil/brush.
>>749787245Well yeah of course. The only reason so many services stayed "free" on the internet so long was because companies thought they made it all back with selling your data to advertisers. The quiet change is that adertisers are noticing there's too much competition for your brain's time and no amount of data is going to be able to manipulate you more than they already are. More or sharper advertisement sinply isn't going to get you to buy new shoes because your brain is too flooded by TikToks anad Shorts to notice.Since advertisers aren't going to pay for a service that doesn't work, someone has to so it might as well be (You). You didn't think search engines, browsers and email clients would be free forever did you?

How do people even use AI when they code? I'm very new at coding but I just use it when I have a problem like. "Help me write a return function to calculate the derivative of this graphs data at a certain point".You kinda have to understand the code itself a bit to use AI... right?

>>749793768You don't in the sense of accomplishing "simple" things. That "simple" window is ever shifting, moving forward every new frontier model release. If you have any rough idea of how computing and tech works, even with no coding knowledge, you probably can achieve things that used to take intermediate devs weeks to accomplish without even sweating it.If you have intermediate knowledge of software/computer arch and engineering, you can operate on the level senior engineers and engineering leads do.If you are a senior engineer proven of their craft that is striving to maintain competency, that's where the unironic 4-10x productivity claims come from - and the biggest reason why money is being dumped into enterprise. So far, this has just been shifting upwards. Right now, these "decomp/recomps" sits somewhere between rough ideas and intermediate ancillary knowledge. The panic is it looks like its about to hit the rough idea guys, and what it means when it hits the next group after that.
>>749794121The AI just writes code. If it’s possible for code to do it, it’s possible for the AI to write code that does it. “Possible” is the wrong question. “How would I tardwrangle it into accomplishing that, when I don’t have the tiniest clue where to begin and also it has safety guardrails designed to prevent it” is the right one.
>>749793768if you have 0 technical knowledge you will be vibe coding, which refers to trusting the ai code on a vibeif you are a software dev and have architectural understanding of good patterns, you still let ai do all of the coding but you steer it into good patterns by outlining how you want things to workfor example, i had AI write me some foliage landscape shader for ground cover foliage, after profiling, the fps was quite low and i asked claude to optimizeafter doing so, fps was still quite low, and it was using a lot of pixel shader instructions for colouring and shading instead of baking it into the texture because it doesn't really want to leave its context to explore other options, so i had to steer it to remove all pixel shader instructions and just rebake the texture and fps went back to 120fps (my 4k ultra target on my machine)you can tell a vibe coder wouldn't be able to understand why fps isnt being fixed after 2 additional prompts and would just continue on, and produce an unoptimized game
>>749793597For starters because the automation itself is not very good and is inherently unreliable, this will NEVER change due to the nature of LLMs, they hallucinate by design as they're probabilistic.Putting that aside, like the vast majority of AI related stuff it's being propped up as something to replace workers entirely despite being unreliable and bad at its job, this mentality leads to issues in both the long and short run as kneecapping, if not wiping out the profession entirely is not only harmful for programming as a whole but for the companies as well, look at the shitshow that Meta turned out to be now that Zuck kicked out most of his programmers believing the machine god would be better. If you want more specific info about recomps/decomps in particular, the core of the matter is that you're trying to recompile/decompile machine code through an LLM, this works admittedly pretty decently with old stuff like things written in assembly, it's a minefield for everything else because compiled code isn't the source code and what the LLM does is basically try to infer the source code through its vector database, it's bound to get a lot of shit wrong because when you compile source code various chunks of it are entirely lost during the process with no way to ever get them back, this is why keeping the source code for things like videogame is a big deal because it's fundamentally impossible to reverse engineer the source code, an LLM is impossibly faster than a bunch of humans but it fucks up just as much if not more. The tech itself has potential, but like all things AI it tends to make easy things easier and hard things harder, especially when there's no competent humans to tardwrangle it, other than that it's an issue of ethics and malpractice.>>749793848Most of the entertainment industry? You seriously think Taylor Swift makes good music?

people who use AI for shit like this don't understand how they are being used. When all the regulation passes, GoyAI and Misanthropic are going to share your details with any entity so they can hunt your ass because "See? We are fighting against people using AI maliciously! The funniest thing about this debate is that /v/ spent years saying AAA studios were creatively bankrupt and that small developers should make the games they actually want to play. Now the tools to do that are becoming accessible and suddenly everyone cares about whether the developer personally typed every line of code. If a game is good, it's good. Nobody checks the engine credits before deciding whether a game is fun.

Imagine spending 8 years begging for innovation, getting the same Ubisoft Toronto open world sequel every November, and then watching /v/ develop a moral philosophy degree the second someone finds a new way to make video games. You people don't want good games, you want the development process to look sufficiently miserable that you can respect it. If a wizard appeared tomorrow and made the perfect RPG overnight, you'd start asking whether the wizard had a degree in computer science.

The problem with AI recomps is that most of them are prompted by people who don't have the knowledge to optimize them.
