Don't pick jobs that require you to be on call outside of work hours if it freaks you out so much. I don't even respond to work calls or emails outside of work hours. You can just set more boundaries with people socially as well, you don't have to pick up the phone every time. Have some agency, you're able to dictate how engrained it is in your life, I know plenty of people in their 20s-30s who use an old flip phone, don't text, and just call for important stuff or setting up outings with friends. You are not a slave to your smart phone, the more importance you assign it in your head, the more dependant you'll be on it. 99% of the time if it's serious enough they'll just call you. Which is exactly how it worked pre-cellphone with home land-line phones.
Anyone else just listen to podcast while gaming. I just put subtitles on. I haven’t listened to any of the games I play in years and I only play single player games.
I have not played a game without the opie and anthony show playing on my phone in probably 5 years
