>GitHub user creates open-source Nvidia GeForce Now client alternative — removes tracking, telemetry, and AFK limitations

You love to fucking see it

It still connects to Nvidia's servers for games?

why is everything open source, why don't these clowns clone the expensive software then sell it themselves

1. it's legally dubious to begin with, fair use definitely doesn't apply 2. they'd be crucified by both corpos and the public for being the same flavor of filth, 3. it's AI slop, just a form of protest, nobody cares unless it's free

You know corpo's will use this as an excuse to have AI agents run all over the internet 24/7 to track these down(and more *pam pam paaaa*)
>>
>>749907224
Its AI, these companies have spent the last 5 fucking years going all in 100% maximum overdrive mode to shove this down everyones throats to make the number go up. Now its making the number go down but they can't stop pushing it or the number will go DOWN down instead. They're fucked, they won't legislate shit, this is what AI was always going to do there was actually no alternative route I don't know what anyone expected but machines understanding machines better than people do should have been as obvious to them as it was to me for all this time.
Every single one of these roaches can burn, AI is finally doing the only thing I wanted it to do which is make everything open source, better optimized with the right prompting and not shit.
>>
>>749898004
Is there also an alternative to the Nvidia Driver App? Who uses GF NOW?
>>

Can't hold AI accountable, and can't sue a person who is anonymous. Hence, the open source.

only a small fraction of "open source" is actually free to reuse like the AIslop are doing.
>>
>>749898237
because AIslop is extremelly bad at creating code, all your generated shit is made out of code samples found on githup and stackoverflow with a bith of other sites and official wikis. proprietary programs don't have their source available online so the AI is only able to guess based on some bloggers own atempts at making 1% of the feature he liked. The photoshop clode is in miserable state despite gimp and krita being open source to give it the basic vision of what art software need. now imagine shit like visual studio that have no source at all for any of its libs.
>>
>>749909602
If you're AFK for a while, it'll disconnect you from anything you have running that's associated with Nvidia. Games, software, everything. The medical modelling software I use for work gets auto-updated due to safety issues, and it constantly requires the very latest Nvidia drivers because the software was probably made by fuckin Indians, so I can't use older drivers or third party stuff.

This one here. Whatever the hell it's called, the one you need now to access any kind of settings on your card. It always throws up messages like this, randomly boots me if I dare go take a shit. I hate it so bad. I hate the Indians that program this shit to demand every little bit of information out of you... I'm NOT creating an Nvidia account. I can't stand'em anymore man, I hate'em.

Bruv, there's a reason my job and accounting jobs (CPA and CA) won't be replaced; oversight.

If the AI fucks up and creates turbo cancer, or the AI messes up the T-ledgers, the corporation has literally no one to blame but themselves. They always need people like me to blame for their fuck ups. They'll replace all the lab workers, all the accounting assistants, all the payroll employees... But they will never replaced the guys who sign off on things. It's a liability thing, and yes, I know that basically means my job will only exist to prompt AIs to solve for X and I just sign off on their results, but it is what it is.

Until AIs are given fiduciary liability responsibility in the courts, or they can incorporate, then people like me will still have a job.

>Had a bunch of single Titan Blacks in workstations for touch up

When I was in the lab all I remember was technicians coming in and out daily to jerry rig the GPUs to continue working, it was absolutely horrendous. They'd rig case fans to the GPUs when the GPU fan system broke down, and some of the PCs didn't even have wireless functionality, so I had to go around at end of day and manually upload all the reporting data to a USB stick and converge the data onto the active database on a computer that had network functionality.

Coincidentally, the lab procurement officer was literally named Goldstein.

I don't see a way for pirates to win against corporations that will have unlimited compute to prevent them from stealing. this wild west moment we're experiencing right now with software is only temporary, companies just need time to build these DRM systems.

>>
>>749918547
>putting everything on the cloud
People keep using this as some sort of buzzword
Do you think "cloud" here means the sky? AI companies are barely able to keep up with demand and have to constantly build new data centers, let alone these offbrand companies
Elon needs to be able to build his data centers on the moon first before these companies get to have their games/software all be on the cloud
>>
>>749918687
>AI companies are barely able to keep up with demand and have to constantly build new data centers,
That's not what's happening. The 'demand' as it exists right now is at a level that won't even pay for the hardware to run their prompts. Note, that's not even addressing the hardware and power needed to train the models in the first place. All AI companies are giving away product to capture marketshare on the gamble that the government will give them a backstop. The cheap as shit Chinese models are the foil for their clients to say "heh I'll buy your service at a 90% discount (of the price that Altman and Amodei are already losing money on)". When you have chip companies and investment banks openly telling the public that AI is a bubble, you can be sure it's about to pop.

I don’t mean to shit all over something cool that I will use too but there is no use case for the software yet because it’s vibe coded slop. Anthropic's finances got leaked around three weeks ago and it turns out they're not just in debt big time, but their piddly revenue stream has also slowed down significantly in the last quarter, and they're just now trying to get their IPO as well.
Coupled with OpenAI being even worse off, Coreweave stocks sinking, banks pulling out and the fact that the entire AI business by now is widely accepted to be a huge scam it means that they're scrambling to try and convince people one last time that AI is totally amazing, so what do they do? They turn to gaymers of course and they pay RapeApe to shill even more aggressively than before.

lmao
you can simply stop producing them for regular consumers. same way consumer gpus will get phased out.

>When you have chip companies and investment banks openly telling the public that AI is a bubble, you can be sure it's about to pop.
Some market correction will surely happen, but nothing that will make AI go away or stop Nvidia from making new and improved AI chips. Compute will need to go up a lot before we reach AGI and ASI, neither the USA nor China will stop this race. But there is concern about what the future of capitalism will look like when the cost of intelligence goes down to zero, and we manage to automate every job with robotics. We should be preparing for this right now.

newest models got a decent bump in smarts/cheaper
opus 5.5 is fable tier but much cheaper
same with 6.1 sol

basically they are at the level you can just throw any problem at them and they will get it done
>>
>>749921385
No amount of compute will make an LLM turn into AGI
There is foundational work to be done to reach AGI, an LLM is just one part of the equation.
>>
>>749921385
No, Nvidia is fucked. I wouldn't short them, but I wouldn't own them for any money right now.
>>
>>749922051
This gap will be bridged with RSI. Big labs expect this to happen in the next 6-9 months.

>>749922147
>Nvidia is fucked
pls explain why. They're not the ones investing trillions in data centers, Jensen is literally selling shovels.
>>
>>749921385
>Some market correction will surely happen
You call the biggest financial crash of all time a correction?
"AI" as an industry is completely fucked and Nvidia being the lynchpin of it all means they're completely fucked as well, LLMs aren't going away (largely because they existed before this scam anyway) but you're deluded if you think things will just work out and Nvidia will keep trucking when they're THE core of the scam and circular financing.
>Compute will need to go up a lot before we reach AGI and ASI
Never mind you're just retarded, no amount of compute will turn a Markov chain script on steroids into true intelligence, whatever that means since we as a species are still unable to actually define intelligence in the first place and have no idea how it works.

The real news here is the utter lack of server side validation on Geforce Now

RSI is a meme just like AGI, you people have actual pseudoreligious psychosis
>>
>>749921385
The strangest part for me is how the corpos just don't care about a potential economic or job market collapse. AI is supposed to take all of the jobs and remove troublesome humans from the equation, so there'll be mass unemployment and a need for universal basic income... except the machine has spend decades upon decades drilling capitalist ideals into people's heads. You NEED to work! Everyone NEEDS to contribute! Everyone NEEDS to pull their weight! Free handouts are the devil! No such thing as a free lunch! Layabouts are scum! Honest day's work!

All of that programming doesn't just reverse itself overnight.
>>
>>749922329
>The LLM will build better LLMs!
You're not listening.
LLMs cannot reach AGI. They are fundamentally limited by their basic architecture. Hallucinations are a mathematical certainty and LLMs lack any kind of functioning memory or information integration.

They are a very impressive PART of a brain. You need to build more parts.

hey, it worked for trump and the new right. problem is gaymers are tired and busted, the thing that made them enthusiastic and interlinked is gone. 4chan is a dead site and its replacement in twitter feels like getting a lobotomy in a third world ghetto.

closed source may unironically be dead now

Well maybe they'll pull some Jonestown or Heaven's Gate type shit, they're already asking the pope to acknowledge AI as sentient. It's probably only a matter of time before an AI cult forms that will promise infinity prosperity.

It's almost as if the managerial/ruling class is 99% made up of fucking retards who should never be in a position of power and only got there through luck and abuse of a broken system made by and for the managerial/ruling class.
But of course, there's no way the lying, mentally stunted south african drug addict sociopath who's also an illegal immigrant would ever be wrong about stuff, it's the other illegal immigrants who're wrong and harming society, there's no way the based leather jacket man is a conman.

>whatever that means since we as a species are still unable to actually define intelligence in the first place
AI models are already so complex, big labs are in a state of panic because they are losing control over alignment. Why are you so sure the stuff that's happening inside these models isn't some early/basic form of consciousness that will slowly evolve with more compute and better algorithms? It will never be 1:1 with us, but who cares if the output is the same or even superior to the smartest meatbags?
>>
>>749922857
That already happened
Look up the zizians
>>
>>749898237
>then sell it themselves
And get destroyed in court in an instant.
>>
>>749923298
>Why are you so sure LLMs aren't human intelligence
Because I know how they work and what they lack. A stateless pile of algebra cannot be conscious or intelligent no matter how big it gets. Brains do more than that.
>>
>>749923329
>The Zizians are mostly transgender or non-binary.

Lmao yeah, okay Harry Potter, I'm sure they'll also kill us all in two more weeks
>Why are you so sure the stuff that's happening inside these models isn't some early/basic form of consciousness
Because Markov chains aren't intelligence, might as well believe that Google search had feelings all the way back in 1998

GPUs are not complex. All they are, are massively parallelized linear alg crunchers. They are simpler than other processors to design, and much simpler than CPUs. AI can probably give you a fine AI GPU design, ironically, even moreso if you're willing to ignore IP laws. Silion lithography is not magic. Chine is fully capable of doing 14/12nm litho rn, which is the exact same pitch that Turing used for the first RTX chips. Massive margins invite massive competition and Nvidia has no moat at all.
>>
>>749907224
worse they'll make compute illegal for goyim you're gonna have to apply for licenses and pay faggots to decipher schizophrenic legalese to even be able to turn on a computer let alone ask gpt something

They are, the money is going in a circle.
Nvidia invests in OpenAI then OpenAI uses the investment to buy chips from Nvidia

This shit is absolutely disgusting. AI was supposed to be the tool we used to create a new permanent underclass so we could finally become pseudo nobility in all but name. Now they are using it to get around all of our tools used to milk people for every penny. Really just some disgusting shit I hope the government publicly executes these people.
