Fun fact: the dopamine hypothesis has been proven wrong. ADHD is not caused by a lack of dopamine and stimulants do not directly treat ADHD. People with ADHD also do not get a "reverse" effect from stimulants.

ADD/ADHD is caused by a deeper issue in the reward pathway that dopamine levels. Think of it like this:
When a brain considers starting a task it requires a certain amount of dopamine (which acts as a "primer" telling the brain that an activity will be rewarding) to actually get started and focus attention on it. In normal people reaching the necessary level to begin is simple, but for whatever reason in people with ADD/ADHD that threshold is fucking massive. It takes way more dopamine than normal to meet that threshold for focus, and when it's met the focus is far more intense than normal (ADD hyperfocus)

Stimulants flood the brain with abundant dopamine making it easier to reach that hyperfocus threshold...but for EVERYTHING not just the shit that needs doing. If you're considering being productive the moment the synthetic speed hits you then you'll probably spend 8 hours working hard, but if you're looking at a distraction you'll spend 8 hours feverishly reading through a wikihole.

Bonus fun fact: depression has fuck-all to do with Serotonin and we have no idea why SSRI's make some people feel better and others want to sewer slide
