hit them until they die. That's about it. Most ailments, including poison, clears automatically when you win a fight so you don't take poison damage on the turn you win the fight.

Update #2
Floors 1 and 2 have been meticulously mapped.
All donated etriams are Level 5, except for Callie. (More on that in a bit)
Arashi, the Thief, is still terrible at identifying trapped treasure chests. I don't quite understand the mechanic for it. It must be an ability modifier, Luck maybe? I could look it up, but In my headcanon, he's just stupid, but overconfident.
"Oh yeah, this chest has a fireball trap on it, let me just... pull this wire..." *Poison Arrow Trap*
Callie had the stats to spec into an advanced class. So she's a Bishop. Which means she keeps her HP, but is back to level 1. Bishops can identify loot, so she's been identifying all the shit we've been hoarding so we can sell it to the shop.
Wulfric, the mage, is kind of stupid. His low I.Q. means he doesn't know as many spells as the other mage, Fluff. Although he can potentially spec into the advanced class of Archer. Maybe it's time to put down the magic tome, and pick up a bow.
And, the Fighter, is the party's tank, being blessed with high HP.
And then there's Teach. She somehow aged well beyond the other party members. Aging is a mechanic I won't get into, but she's the oldest somehow. She tries her hardest.
With the influx of more gold from stronger enemies, and the ability to identify and sell loot, the party will be grinding a bit on Floor 2 to buy better armor before delving deeper.
>>
Man, this fight against Guild Esbat is pretty cool. Facing off against humans is always exciting, there is even a unique battle theme just for this one fight to make it feel even more special. Boy, I sure do hope no one ruins this tense moment by yelling something homophobic on turn 2 and then wailing on a guitar for the rest of the fight.

Seriously, every boss is gonna be like this for now on isn't it? I'll admit that giving the Fafnir his own force boost theme was kino at first, but now that I have extend, its getting kind of annoying. I like the music, but I like the boss music too. The theme isn't special when its ALWAYS active.

I wouldn't mind a cross-promotion.
Atlus adds a Monster Hunter class in Etrian Odyssey 6, and Capcom adds DLC where they take 3 or 4 of the most noteworthy/interesting FOEs and turn them into huntable monsters.
Naturally their carves would make, like, Atlus Gunner's outfit. Or something.

Regardless, I don't think that's equivalent, as mapping is fun and immersive, whereas battling low-level mooks where you just steamroll them isn't. The former requires a bit of creativity sometimes, too.

War Magus really appreciates a Survivalist or Hexer to inflict ailments for them, so I would recommend fitting one in if you want to use them. I'm sure you could manage without using Grimoires or even Random Disease, but it wouldn't be super optimal.

As the eShop has closed, you can only get the DLC via homebrew, which is free so you might as well. It gives you the Highlander class and a couple new boss fights.

Taking the replies into account, how would a Protector/War Magus/Highlander front Gunner/Hexer party be? I'm also considering swapping the gunner for a survivalist. Dark Hunter might be better than highlander with this team comp but I used a DH in U1 and wanna try some classes I haven't used.
>>
>>474718864
>What other classes work well with landy?
If you do a chase shark then palmchemist and gunner. If not, then anything really. Landy is kinda bland if she's not chasing, there's nothing wrong with her, but if you aren't gonna do a chase party then I recommend picking someone else.

>>474753048
i like all of them but prefer hexer the most for being dedicated to ailments and not half-measured into healing and damage like arcanist and harbinger
>>
>>474753048
sticc is the sexiest, and therefore the best. Though I do think the circles being able to either keep trying or be dispelled for a heal makes them the most fun to use.
Harbingers felt a bit annoying to set up in 5 due to how many points they need to make mist armor good but a good debuffer overall. Though when it came to ailments I felt they were a bit lacking, and I got more use out of necro's poison bomb and tombstone vice. I do like how they're tanky enough to stand in the front which is more than the other debuffers.
Hexer feels numerically the strongest but is pretty simple overall. Which is fine really.
wildling seemed pretty alright to me, though their damage seemed pretty lacking so the summon sticking around felt like it was mostly just to absorb stray hits sometimes. Which they're not bad at since they have high max hp. AOE instant death is always fun for randoms at least.

With Chain Dance? Unfortunately it's just not very good in Nexus.
Survivalist is probably one of the weaker classes in the game, but it still has some neat things, like Trickery+Force Boost/Break giving you pseudo-Blind for 6 turns, Drop Shot for randoms, and Scapegoat for specific gimmick strats.

Update #3
All donated etriams are level 8-10.
Arashi is the highest level, at 10. I think thieves require less EXP to level up than other classes. He's gotten better at disarming traps on chests. ...I hope. Treasure traps in Wizardry can get pretty brutal in deeper parts of the dungeon, such as leveling down your characters.
And died in the last expedition into the dungeon to a three-headed hound. He takes point for the party, and thus sponges a lot of damage. This is his role, but our Bishop was not able to heal him as fast as he was losing HP.
We gave the church 900 gold to revive him. To put this price in perspective, a good weapon is around 70 gold. A REALLY good weapon is 150-300. But the party is pretty loaded, and Teach was just about able to foot the bill on her own wallet.
Speaking of the Bishop, Callie, her Alignment has shifted from Good to Evil. Not exactly sure when or why it happened. I may have accidentally fought a friendly group of monsters, and the Gods are displeased with her. Whoops.
In a lot of Wizardry games, Good characters will simply refuse to party with Evil characters, while Neutral characters can group with either. In this game, it doesn't seem to be an issue. The party remains together.
Wulfric and Fluff are the pair of back row magic users. Due to Wulfric being Neutral, and Fluff being Good, their spell lists are slightly different. ...At least I think thats why. At their levels, their AOE spells make short work of groups of enemies.
The dungeon has been meticulously mapped down to the 5th floor. There is a sizable chunk of the floor inaccessible. There must be secret doors leading into these areas, or perhaps stairs from lower levels leading back up.

Well there's your problem. They're not weak but it'll take some time to build evasion. It's not going to make you 100% invincible all the time. You ideally want to use their force boost/break in combination with blind and/or trickery, that'll give the survivalist and whole party good evasive defense. Drop shot is good for deleting back row enemies and hazy arrow is great when you get a dodge off. Ninja sub can be good to give them more passive evasion as well. A lot of their attack skills have good modifiers but you need to build their strength stat if you want better damage out of them. This is because these modifiers are built with their middling strength in mind. Another tip is that mirage arrow (their force break) will force the enemy to go last which is very good against certain bosses/FOEs that use counter moves. Scapegoat can also be good in the right setups. They can also use it on themselves if I remember right.

This is always a concern, yeah. I believe you have one more chance to try to revive from ash (for more money) before the character is perma-deleted from your save file.
A TPK is the real nightmare scenario. As, /eog/ didn't quite donate enough etriams for me to have a retrieval party. If the group dies, I'll need to go fetch their bodies, one or two at a time, which means I should really have four more adventurers on standby.

Ah shoot thanks. I know right now my party is somewgat struggling as a whole right now. Like my Harbinger/Magus Combo is struggling to get fully synergizes quite yet. My Imperial gets like 2 hits in before being out of mana. And well my medic's heals cost less TP than my Botanist in EO5, I find myself way more mana starved, and my botanist in EO5 was constantly applying ailments. So maybe Nexus is just a harder game.

Should I swap Imperial for Zodiac and move Survivalist to the front row? I'd hate to do it, but he was the only class in the party I was Give/Take on.

>>he
Male Survivalist #2 looks really cool. And I like to make my party an evenish split between men and women so I can ship them :)

Imperials aren't great for normal encounters and are better at big burst damage on FOEs/bosses. You can keep them or swap, either way is fine. They get a TP regain attack which will help with that once you get to the next tier of skills. Survivalist has quick step which is good for letting them get their drive skills off immediately without worrying about the reduced defense. Survivalist can work in the front row if you want increased aggro towards them for chain dance/hazy arrow.
>And I like to make my party an evenish split between men and women so I can ship them :)
I make parties all loli so I can ship them. To each their own.

Going from III to IV makes it feel like they fired some good artists between games or something. I mean just compare the Porcelain Forest to the Forgotten Capital. Though I'll admit no song in IV has made me as mad as the one for the lava stratum in III. God what a hideous place.

4's OST is great, fuck you. Misty Ravine's bgm is one of my favorites. It's the same composer, Yuzuo Koshiro, by the way.
>>
>>474978416
Then I have no idea what happened, though I didn't mean only the music. The 2nd, 4th and 5th stratum just feel cooler overall, the music/art/enemies mesh really well together (though looking back the fish city having almost no lore is weird, then again it fits the nature of the series).
>>
>>474979747
wasn't IV supposed to be unique, in that it was kind of a 'soft reboot' to the series. What with it being the first 3DS entry.
Isn't it the first in four entries to get rid of the mole as an early labyrinth enemy. The, uh. red fella with the claws and yellow eyes...
Or wasn't he in III?
Point being, I think the stylistic changes were intentional.
>>
>>474979747
The stratums look good in 4 so I don't know what you're on. The post game stratum in particular is really damn cool. 4 was the first to jump to 3D enemy models so maybe you just prefer the 2D art. 4 still has a lot of my favorite Himukai portraits as well.
>>
>>474975432
Porcelain Forest is the coolest fifth stratum sure but most of the other Stratums in 3 were nothing too special
>>
>>474980893
I found the jump to 3D iffy but I'll admit some of the enemies use it well, like the rollers covering their faces when low on HP/afflicted with a status effect.

I decided to plan my party out now. I really liked using Harbinger and Botanist in V even if statuses really cheesed most FOEs and bosses. So, because I think statuses are fun, I think I'd like to use Nightseeker and an Arcanist. Aside from that I don't really know who else I want to use. Something like:
>Nightseeker/Bushi
>Arcanist/Medic
>Dancer
>Runemaster
>???
Looking at Dancer's defense buff it seems like they can kind of do Fortress's job aside from the elemental damage reduction which I figure Runemaster can do.
>>
>>474994823
Are you building the ygg for swashbuckling gun normal attacks with a focus on crits? Never tried it before but it might be okay if lady luck, data mining, swashbuckling, and overheat are all maxed and you have elemental/crit forges and/or imbue. If your ninja is subbed zodi, you're either using them for support or are double magic casting for damage since ninja have good tec. Either the ninja or the ygg needs to do some damage to help your gladiator out.
>>
>>474996172
I was curious about follow-up spam, so my Yggdroid is doing bots and elemental follow-ups. Not nearly as much output as I hoped. Overheat/crit will probably be more reliable. Ninja is more of an ailment build, and petrify abuse is how I wipe out most randos. I honestly just took sub Zodiac to give her something to do when bosses are still on ailment cooldown.

Shogun/bucc is the best source of chases with second sword and swashbuckling combined. You could try a punch ygg by subbing them monk if the bucc sub isn't working out.
>>
>>474994823
>>474996172
Ygg/Bucc with swashbuckling and crit build is honestly really good.
Used one in my Ygg party and it was my best damage dealer.
Max out Swashbuckling, Lady Luck, Data Mining, Limit Boost and put levels in Overheat depending on how much your Ygg can take the heat. Also, max out Virus Scanner and Infravision.
Rapiers>Guns, forge your weapon with elemental forges.
Also, it's not worth it to put points into Bots while also putting points into Swashbuckling, Bots are only truly worth it when you max them and you don't have enough skill points to spread yourself thin like that.

Does Landsnekcht/Sniper make sense to do? I don't have anyone in my party who can really inflict binds so I figure I'd sub my Landy into Sniper to get access to all of those bind skills since I mostly just want the Landy for the utility of making the party do more damage with their passive anyways

Landy are damage dealers. Their proficiency skill is nice for giving everybody else extra damage/accuracy but they should also be contributing good damage themselves. If you find a bow and blade wielding Landy thematically cool then go for it but their luck isn't great if I remember right so they probably won't be too reliable with binds.

That said, you are at quite a disadvantage with that party.

For the love of god drop medic, not just because medic is kind of a weak class in general, but because you already have 3 other healers on your team.

As you probably already realized, survivalist is not a dodge tank. He mainly uses dodges to activate hazy arrow, not to tank.

I was a tad saddened by this one, but I really don't want to run a Protector. My big complaint is it always feels like 3/5 of my team slots has to pay the Protector/Medic/Mage tax.

I don't want to use a Fortress/Protector if I can get away with it. I'm planning to have the Dancer perform the same role as Fortress basically, and actually subbing them into Fortress later. I also feel like I need the last character to be one that can fit in the front line to benefit from the Dancer buffs so that the dancer isn't exclusively buffing the Nightseeker

>Who's the last one?
Survivalist with efficiency and sorting skill.

>My big complaint is it always feels like 3/5 of my team slots has to pay the Protector/Medic/Mage tax.
Don't fall for that newb trap. I mean look at your brother, he didn't use any of those classes.
You certainly don't need a mage, at the end of the day that's just DPS, there are plenty of other classes to fill that role.
You REALLY don't need a medic, as I implied earlier, the main problem with medic as a class is that a lot of other classes can do their job while also doing something else at the same time.
Protector is the only one you gotta think about, and you don't need that either if you build your team right (You do need it for EO1 and EO2 post game and the EO1U superboss, however that's irrelevant). The most common way to do that in etrian is with ailments and binds, but you can also stack defensive buffs and debuffs.

Survivalist can still protect the team, just not by dodge tanking. The main problem with chain dance is that it's an aggro draw skill, which means that after early game it becomes extremely situational. Aggro draw skills don't do anything to protect the party against target line and target all moves which become extremely common later. Chain dance is still really good against random target moves though, so I would still get the skill just for those situations. Surv's main way to protect the team is by basically boosting the whole party's evasion via blind, trickery (but don't actually use trickery, your party already has too many good debuffs to waste a slot on that), and most importantly their force boost and break. In addition they also get scapegoat which like chain dance has some situational uses. So even though they're not really tanking, they are still preventing damage.

In addition, you also have strength slash which I think is the strongest attack debuff in Nexus. Don't forget about elemental mist items and the defend command either.

Ok, fine advice. Well I am fairly early in the run. So what is the best team composition I can run if I want to build my team around Hazy Shots? Because that's what I really want.

Also no Harbinger, Imperial, Hero, Sovereign. I don't want to copy my brothers style.

I finally beat EOU on expert/classic, first EO game I've actually beat, played 3 and 4 but dropped them years ago and decided to start from the "beginning" of the series. This certainly felt harder than those two, didn't help my team wasn't planned out too well, but I still enjoyed the game a lot and its probably one of my favorite DRPGs now.

Also I'm the type of autist that likes making little stories for my characters so here's the ending I wrote for all of them:

>After defeating what was at the bottom of the labyrinth, the five guildmembers of Gjallar reveled in their newfound stardom.
>Being gifted a medal of honor, Albertus immediately took it for himself, thinking he was the most valued member of the team.
>Aglibol was about to argue the medal should be his, but then Albertus suddenly turned to Marga, and gave her the medal as a sign of his love.
>Marga accepted, and the two embraced while a crowd of townspeople cheered behind them. Aglibol makes a crass joke as Alexander looks flustered and Tsurugi looks like she could care less.
>After a week of celebrations and heavy drinking, the medic and alchemist were wed. The two gave up adventuring and decided to focus on trying to find ways to improve medicine and better life for all.
>Tsurugi left one night without a word. Rumors say to listen closely if you smell smoke in the dungeon, as you might hear Tsurugi and her burning-hot blade cleaving through her foes.
>Aglibol, much like Albertus and Marga, gave up adventuring. He became an adult "entertainer" specializing in bondage, but failed to make a profit as his clients complained his bindings never worked.
>He later died of auto-erotic asphyxiation.

>As for Alexander? With Gjallar disbanded, he left to go find a new team to protect.
>... This time hopefully realizing he needs to learn how to block elemental attacks before his team wipes to them.
>>
>>475160703
>I want to build my team around Hazy Shots
Don't do that. Hazy shot isn't good enough to build a whole team around. I know the numbers on Hazy Shot are good, but thats to make up for survivalists terrible STR. Instead I'll simply just suggest a team with survivalist in it that features a fair amount of dodging.

>no Harbinger, Imperial, Hero, Sovereign
Ronin and gunner it is then. They actually have a bit of synergy with surv too anyway.

Anyway heres the party, it turned out to be a bit of a lock out party, which does mean it has a bit of anti synergy with hazy arrow, since surv can't dodge if enemies can't attack but whatever.

Ronin/landy
War Magus/Nightseeker
Ninja/Sovereign (This nig is REALLY SP hungry so be careful how you spend your points)
gunner/something (lot of good sub choices here, somewhat dependent on whether you want to focus more on ricochet or charges)
Surv/ninja or landy

Ah shoot, thanks anon. Now I will win for sure. Though Ninja sounds a bit intimidating, but I'm willing to be a bit Jewish on the points.

You know, that's a fair point. One has to imagine that perhaps Vessels, being more intune with nature, would rely more upon it. Perhaps, being created by man, they might have complete different biological features. For all we know, they could just get energy via photosynthesis.

One thing that is for certain, a vessel would have a hard time raising a human baby seeing as they would quickly grow to be far heavier than what sticc arms could carry.

>lack of healing
I already went over this, you have healing, its war magus and items. Once you get subclassing then ninja/sov will help out as well. Your main source of healing will be passive with items for the big heals.

Survivalist is always your best item user, but IDK if I'd still bother with efficiency on this team. Do get sorting skill eventually but its not a priority. Also level 1 resuscitate is really good for recovering after normal encounters.

War Magus doesn't need much investment in healing, get artery to help ninja/sov with passive healing. War magus needs something to do anyway when their force boost isn't active and there arent any ailments up. Early game the level 2 war heal and level 3 line heal you need as prerecs will also be useful, which works because early game war magus has nothing better to do anyway.

>>475249418
Hes actually pretty easy once you learn his move set if you have a protector. You will have to either take notes on his move patterns or just cheat and look them up. Luckily you also have medic so you don't need to learn his patterns too extensively, with CPR you can afford to make a decent amount of mistakes at predicting the bosses moves. DH wont be too useful but he doesn't need to be, the fight doesn't have a DPS check.

Playing the 3DS remake of EO. Do you recommend playing it in classic or story mode?

Why?
>>
>>475217978
I know right? I just start looking at that thin frail body and all I can think about is how much I just want to pick her up andswear my allegiance to Evolto.
>>
>>475254052
Story mode is not EO in my opinion. It was done to try and reach a wider audience and make it more like a normal JRPG. One of the main appealing aspects of the series is making your own party. If you absolutely need your shounen anime story with fixed protagonists to enjoy a game then go ahead but it's not representative of the majority of the series.
>>
>>475252889
Do both, play every game more than once, not just the untolds, so you can try out different team builds and classes.

But fine, if you're only gonna play it once, then ask yourself how you feel about Etriam having a story and not being able to pick your party. Once you do, the answer should be obvious.

If you are okay with not getting to pick your own team, and not being able to do any imagining about your characters, then you should do story mode. If you think that story mode is a violation of what Etriam stands for then do classic.

Honestly, if you have to ask, then you probably want story mode. However if this is your first EO game then STOP and pick a different game to start with instead. Story mode should not be your first experience with Etriam.
>>
>>475252889
If this is your first EO I implore you to reconsider and try 3 or 4 instead.
>>
>>475251906
Oh good idea, thanks. And here I've been vampiring. But artery sounds fun. And sorting sounds reasonable, I wanted to grab the utility skills anyway just for the flavor of it.

I wonder how many people got fucked over by EOU being a remake of the first game and had their first experience with the series being either a shitty story mode or the hardest game in the series.
>>
>>475259414

>>
>>
>>475257964
Vampire is nice, but its conditional thus its not reliable. I mean don't not get level 2 vamp, but maxing it should be a very low priority.
>>
>>475259414
U's story team is completely brain dead to pilot and is straight up one of the best teams you can use in that game.
Additionally, the exp/gear curve is designed around you doing Ginnugagap, so the people who jumped straight into classic are the ones who fucked themselves over, not the story players.
>>
>>475264834
I mean Gladsheim but the point still stands. Locking so much good gear behind a dungeon that can't be accessed in an entire mode was asinine and that's why 2U fixed it.

Its hard to say which game is the hardest or easiest, because they're all at around the same level of difficulty really. It really depends on what you value and whether or not you're using online resources.

If you arent using any online resources then EO1 and 2 are the hardest because of those 10 level rest costs and the fact that you might not bring protector for post game. The conditional drops are another problem too.

Else, if all you care about is the post game, then Untold is probably the hardest because it has the biggest difficulty spike between floors 25 and 26. Although maybe its IV because of some of those enemy formations in the final stratum.

Else, if all you care about is the super boss fight, then 2U is the hardest because of the DLC super boss.

Else, if all you care about is the main game game then there is no answer because they're all easy. The most difficult main game will probably be whatever game you picked first.

Else, if youre the type to get bored, then Nexus is the hardest game because its the one you're most likely to quit playing halfway through and never finish.
>>
>>475277519
EOU Classic has the highest difficulty spikes between strata because the game is balanced with the exp gain from Gladsheim in mind.

I think the danger of the random encounters are a bit overblown. While the first floor is pretty standard and fairly threatening at first the enemies on the other floors are actually pretty passive until you start attacking. While they're certainly dangerous once you hit them you're usually given time to set up or just run.

Nah, ATLUS knows how to balance EXP gains to make sure that you are at the intended level pretty well honestly. You catch up for that pretty quick. In classic mode you will enter each new stratum at 1 or 2 levels below where you are expected to be, however by the time you finish the stratum you will have caught up so it doesn't snowball.

Classic mode never felt harder than story for me, being 2 levels under isnt a big deal. The difficulty spike at post game has NOTHING to do with exp gains. Its the poison trees and the floor of pain.

I started playing EOIV and I maxed my Nightseeker's Nerve Throw only for it to basically never proc a single time when I was spamming it an entire encounter with a non-resistant FOE. The base chance for a FOE that doesn't resist is actually 50%, so don't expect to have super high inflict chances compared to normal encounters. It gets better once you get the next class unlocked after the second stratum.
For RM glacier and galvanic are good single target options, and you'll want at least one of blizzard or origin for aoe. You'll want to max the base runes buffs eventually too, but that's more for late game.

Update #4
The new recruits conscripted from the Guild Card archive >>475170147 have been trained to level 4, where they'll wait in town as a retrieval team, or item couriers.
In Wizardry games, a TPK doesn't give you a game over. Your party is simply... dead, wherever in the dungeon you were. Want your party back? You need to go in and retrieve the dead bodies one or two at a time, and hope they can be resurrected. This is the main function of the conscripts, or Team Beta.
Team Alpha, made up of
>Teach from /eog/
>Arashi from Ishimori
>Callie from Clover
>Fluff from OwlGuard
and
>And from The Funk
are still the heroes of this story. Until I get bored, or they get brutally killed by some dungeon creature.
They've mapped all of floor 6, and the interor portion of floor 5, which can only be accessed form floor 6.
Team Alpha fought their first real boss, to little fanfare. No treasure, nor large sum of EXP. Just one less Minotaur in the dungeon. In Wizardry, the killing of the monster IS the reward. Team Alpha moves deeper into the dungeon, where an elevator links floor 4 to floor 19. Which is nice, as they only have to hike it to the surface from floor 4, rather than from whatever depths they explore to.

They're worth it, it'll take some luck on FOEs and bosses but once you get an ailment off, the NS will have a chance to do a lot of damage. You should also use Black Mist to extend how long the ailment lasts. In 4, Follow-Trace is always active which means it'll also give your Throw skills a second chance of going off and thus another attempt at inflicting the corresponding ailment. You definitely want this skill maxed for both infliction chance and obviously damage. I never max Blade Flurry, just get it high enough for Follow Trace. You can also have luck forged weapons for better ailment chance and sub Arcanist for their passive if you want an even higher chance. You could go without throw skills I guess if you have another party member that's dedicated to ailments like an Arcanist. Either way, NS needs ailments to function right.

Not that anon, but yeah. The base runes count as a weakness to trigger Runic Guidance and also boost any other ele damage your party has.

Forgot to mention it was 2U if that matters
Does the protector's weapon matter at all? I went lances in 1U since they seemed to have stat boosts more often which is more useful since I rarely attacked with him.
>>
>>475407432
My post was about 2, not 2U. I don't think act speed works in 2U like it does in 2 so either staff or sword is probably fine.

I've only ever played 3. If I want to try a different origins collection game on steam, should I even bother with 1 or should I just get 2 instead? I see that 2 has all of the classes 1 has, with more added.

Thats what I did back when I played IV too because normal attacks arent that important, but apparently blade flurry also boosts the strength of follow trace, so you want to be sure to max both passives.

I finally got to sort my stuff in order in order to get back to playing Untold 1 again. I'm replaying the Story Mode on standard because unlike many people I actually really like the story mode and its characters. I just really enjoy mapmaking and hearing all the remade music that I remember from playing the original all those years ago. It's super nice.

I do have plans to try to get back to 3 again, since I started it last summer but ended up having to leave it alone due to so many other games eating up my time. At this point I should just start it over from the beginning, but I'm definitely going to use the same party layout I had previously. 4 has been on my "summer game" list for like five years in a row now, but since my progress has been so slow with getting through 3 it looks like it's another year when that's not gonna happen. Not to mention that now I'd actually have the HD triple pack for the start of the summer, and I'd really like to play the original 1 again with a new party layout. I'm an unemployed fug and it's still hard to find the time to play it all, and here I am replaying one of the games I've already beaten, just because I like it that much.

Such is life, I guess. But I really do love playing Etrian.

>>475437637
You should max both Blade Flurry and Follow Trace eventually, but it's not something that you need to do until post-game. The main game should be focused on raising all of the relevant passives to half and raising a select few actives up to max.
As for weapon forges, just dump everything into Atk.
>>
>>475459115
I've not played it, but it seems less of a rebalance and more of an overhaul. See if anything in the docs catches your interest:
https://gamebanana.com/mods/451468

The only balance changes in HD are that charges now persist forever until used up by an attack, making them compatible with stuff like Snipe and the first hit of chasers, and the introduction of Picnic makes it easier to grind up the unlockable classes

Yeah, it's good. If you're familiar with Wizardry, this is one of the better entries. I think most people would agree that the StarFish developed titles are better than the western titles.
It's derivative of AD&D 2e in a lot of ways. So a passing knowledge in that edition of the game will take you pretty far. Otherwise, there's plenty of FAQs and stuff online.
The only way to play it, as far as I know, is to emulate it. It's a Japanese title, but it has a decent English translation.
If you're asking if Wizardy (as a series) is good, I'd say yeah. Stick with the StarFish games. The games are a lot more difficult than EO. Or, I guess it's more accurate to say 'less forgiving'.
But for me, that makes playing (and succeeding) a lot more rewarding. A TPK is soul-crushing though.
>>
I'm sorry innkeeper guy, I will come to sleep at your place at some point again but that soldier guy with his basket full of food is just sitting there all alone and I kind of want to keep him company, I swear it has nothing to do with the fact he doesn't charge me anything for it fully healing my HP and TP,
>>
>>475610663
are these other starfish games even translated online? the rest of these empire games seem like they're jp only.
>>
>>475611192
Yes. The Wizardry Gaiden games on the SNES and GB have translations, and I think the first empire is also translated. I'm not sure...
I'd check romhacking<dot>net for the patches and then work your way backward to your LEGALLY ACQUIRED games to patch.
>>
>>475611627
fair enough. they never made any psx games? i know the ps2 wizardry game i tried out was pretty good, just weirdly slow with ff9-tier transitions between animations.
>>
>>475611839
In English, there are 10? Wizardry Games.
In Japanese, theres an additional 39 games. The Japanese love these games. In the west, we like JRPGs. Kind of funny how that turned out.
>>
>>475611839
>>475612793
The devs (or some of the devs) who worked on some of the Japanese Wizardry games later went off and made Elminage. So, Elminage is less 'influenced by Wizardry' as it is a... Harvest Moon to Story of Seasons kind of deal.
The devs made the same type of game they've always made, but they don't own the copyright to Wizardry or the spell names, so they just called it something different.

It's probably best to go back and beat EO4 first unless you really want to play 1. Untold on Classic is much better balanced but it's also one of the hardest EO games if you play on expert.

And yeah immunize is broken as fuck in EO1, it'll carry you. As long as you have a medic and protector you should be fine.
>>
>>475735376
>>475735617
Ominmancer comes with life siphon which means more chain blast, and a source of petrifaction as always good too. With spread chant you also get a pretty good shot at landing arm bind but thats not really a big deal.

However the most important difference between them are the reserve magic and common magic passives. Common magic is a HUGE 1.5 multiplier but you can only get it if you have a second warlock, a broker necro, or dance oracle shaman on your team (which most teams don't). Reserve magic on the other had is really easy to achieve, and at 1.25 is still pretty big enough to provide a larger boost to damage than magic attack up combined with the Int bonus that elemancer gets. This means that if your team can't trigger common magic, elemancer will not only come with the bonus utility effects, but also do more damage.

>>475748973
Not that I remember. Are you bringing Metopon to remove the Cold Regen buff?
>>
>>475750487
I can only get him down to half before I inevitably wipe so I haven't even gotten to his regen phase yet. He'll just triple strike and get through parry and kill someone every time. I don't have the buffs/debuffs to deal with it because of my party comp.

I probably could keep trying until I get lucky enough with parry but at that point I'm just bashing my head against a wall.

They probably plan to but they've sorta shot themselves in the foot thanks to their greedy pricing of the first trilogy

>the 3d games require more touch ups thanks to enemy models (plus 4's overworld and the voice samples found in the U's, 5, and nexus)
>have 5 mainline games to sell you meaning its not a 50/50 split (7 games if they add in the two MD games but that would require a localization of EMD2)
>sold HD ds games for 40 a piece which was already more than their original price in most cases, meaning the HD 3ds games are going to be even more?
>if they charge more for them in a collection the price will be bordering a hundred
>if they charge less it'll make the first collection look bad
>if they charge the same then the average retard wonders why a 2d game costs the same as a 3d game and it makes one or both collections look bad depending on the retard in question

It's a messy situation created by a greedy company that regularly has its greed rewarded. There's no good outcome here.

Just equip 2 other characters with an elemental wall grimoire so that you can cast all three on that one turn. Or just rely on the CPR safety net.

In terms of ease of development, first-person dungeon crawlers are one of the easiest genres, after arcade shooters and platformers.
In the RPG genre tree, a wizardry clone is easier than a Final Fantasy clone.
So, where's the slew of indie DRPGs for me to play?
Actually, let's go by the 'give a man a fish, teach a man to fish' metaphor.
Someone make a DRPG Maker.
>>
>>475879314
>In the RPG genre tree, a wizardry clone is easier than a Final Fantasy clone.
It's harder for a Wizardry clone to stand out than for an FF clone. From a consumer standpoint, it's easier to immediately tell apart an overhead RPG because I can immediately notice the difference in sprites and art style. Well from a marketing standpoint, it's way harder to push a DRPG product because often there isn't a lot visually going on. Heck some days I think one of the reasons EO is one of the better selling DRPGs is simply because it's one of the more pleasant looking series.

From the gameplay side, a poorly designed Wizardry clone really makes it's flaws show when you play it.
>>
>>475879314
>Someone make a DRPG Maker.
Unless you really need the actual dungeon exploration outside of battle to be in first person with 3D graphics, then normal RPG maker can already make DRPGs.

So I'll just say, Exe-Creates games all look the same. They look like RPG Maker games, but are developed in Unity. Which is the strangest choice for a company to do. RPG Maker games are known for their mediocrity, with the few diamonds in the rough being notable exceptions.
So, it's crazy how they would purposefully make their RPGs look like that.
Point being, I think the opposite of
>From a consumer standpoint, it's easier to immediately tell apart an overhead RPG because I can immediately notice the difference in sprites and art style
is true.
But it doesn't matter because First Person Dungeon Crawlers aren't pumped out like home-brewed indie JRPGs.

For full UNGA Ygg/Glad work together nicely and for full defense Yggs make amazing Hoplites, problem there is you're basically just playing a hoplite and not a Ygg.
Ygg/Damage focused Monk is also a fun combo, keep in mind for all of these any class is better main wise, the price for android sex is steep.
>>
>>475891919
yggs are good but you have to treat them like a subclass and mostly just use their passives and then focus on their subclass to function. They do have their fair share of issues too though.

>I think one of the reasons EO is one of the better selling DRPGs is simply because it's one of the more pleasant looking series
that, and it's just more cohesive in general. the last wizardry game i was interested in was tales of the forsaken land, because anything else from the land of the rising sun looks rough as fuck. art with no cohesion, not a whole lot of portraits to choose from, barely any music. the presentation is not just absent, it's sometimes just bad with the assumption seemingly being that because the original game used to be a totally silent wireframe with menus attached that you can just keep making that but worse, because at least the wireframes i can just imagine i'm walking through a crypt or cave but for wizardry bunshin gaiden no zetsu i've got stock art plastered on 3d walls and monsters that look like a totally different style from the main party. just sucks bro
>>475891919
not very, you can get through with a prince/princess instead but they're worse healers statwise.
yggdroid isn't worth using but there's some funny stuff you can do with them. an appropriately leveled yggdroid can kill anemone solo (i think) because yggdroids can't be bound by enemies.

>>

Resident Yggfag here.
Yes, Yggdroids are really fucking good if you know how to use them. You can easily beat postgame with a team of only Yggdroids.

Yggs are a very good class that's often misunderstood because they work different from the other classes. Unlike other classes that use subclassing to complement their main class, Yggs' main class complements their subclass.
They have the highest HP, highest STR and 2nd highest VIT; while their TEC and AGI is subpar, their LUC is downright terrible and their TP is stuck at 60.

>Strengths and Toolkit
Their main gimmick is binding themselves to passively regenerate TP through Sleep Mode, which heals up to 10TP per bind every turn. This is probably the least impressive part about Yggs and it's mostly just so you don't have to worry about carrying Amritas with you.
The strength of the Ygg lies on their fantastic passives and stats.
Yggs are naturally immune to binds that don't come from their own skills, add to that Virus Scanner 10 (50% ailment resistance) and Yggs are extremely hard to lock down.
Infravision compensates for their subpar AGI by giving them 40% increase to evasion and hit rate at night, making them bulky classes that can also dodge a lot of attacks.
Overheat is an insane passive damage buff and the HP cost isn't nearly as taxing as it seems as long as you have a Hoplite or anyone on healing duty.
Their bots are also surprisingly useful if you're not using the 6th slot in your party. They chase your party's elemental attacks with TEC elemental damage. The bots have the Ygg's stats, so their TEC isn't very high, so to compensate they gave them very high damage numbers (170% TEC damage at level 10) so if you give your Ygg TEC equipment and books the damage can start getting higher.
Lastly, HP Cannon. It's not very good HOWEVER, it's very funny to use against the true final boss.
>>
>>475891919
>>475894065

>Subclassing Options
>Ygg/Glad
Highest STR in the game and Infravision makes Blade Rave consistent as all hell and Nine Smashes into an actually reliable option. Also, Overheat > Berserker Vow > Charge > Blade Rave is very funny.
>Ygg/Hop
Arguably the best Hop in the game. Highest HP, 2nd highest VIT, immunity to binds, 50% resistance to all ailments with Virus Scanner and 40% increase to evasion with Infravision makes them an incredibly durable machine.
>Ygg/Monk
One of the best Fist Monks in the game. Having the highest STR means the world with how Fist damage calculation works. But, most importantly, Monks have Ascetic Deeds, at level 10 heals you for 90HP everytime you use a skill, which means that Overheat 9 is a free 40% dmaage buff and Overheat 10 goes from costing 127HP to a measly 37HP for a 50% damage buff.
>Ygg/Bucc
2nd best Swashbuckling user. Look, you can't beat a Shogun/Bucc in terms of Swashbuckling, but you're going Deep City route so this is your next best option if you want a swashbuckler with you.
Data Mining increases crit chance by 10% and makes crits deal 190% damage. So Data Mining, Overheat, Lady Luck and Crit accesories makes them actually hit pretty hard with Swashbuckling.
Also, if you want to summon bots, this is your best way to proc chases while also dealing good damage (Of course, assuming you don't have Shogun unlocked).
One piece of warning though, Overheat activates every time Swashbuckling procs, so leave it at level 6 if you don't have someone to babysit them.

>Meh and Bad Subclassing Options
>Ygg/Princess
I had an Y/P in my party. It works, but I only had her because I wanted a full Yggdroid party. If you want a full Ygg party it definitely works, there's nothing wrong with it, you have a bulky Princess that's very hard to lock down. But if you're not doing that, just get a regular Princess.
>Ygg/Zod
I also had this in my party. This one doesn't work at all. I literally only had her because I wanted someone to summon bots, and for the endgame she was my HP Cannon user.
>Ygg/Arb
Yggs have the highest STR and Overheat. However, Front Mortar is not very sustainable (16 TP with 2 binds) and Double Action is pretty much not viable.
It can still work, but without Charge, Front Mortar really loses a lot of it's appeal.
You could however have a Snipe/Sharpshooter Y/A in a disable focused party and it could work as well.
>Ygg/Ninja, Ygg/Wildling
Yggs do not have the TEC or LUC to try to inflict ailments or binds.
>Ygg/Farmer
lmao
>Ygg/Shogun
Unless you're modding your game or playing a second playthrough you're not having this one in your party, so I put it in the Meh category.
Magatoki works well since you're already going to be exploring mostly at night thanks to Infravision and Daifuhensha makes Yggs stronger and bulkier, and thanks to Infravision they will be able to work as a pseudo dodge tank as well.
They're also a pretty bulky Warrior Might user.
The biggest problem is that Magatoki and Daifuhensha both use different body parts, so TP recovery becomes an issue.
Also, fun fact. Bloody Lance increases the damage of HP Cannon. You're never going to use that unless you're going for that one strategy against the true final boss, but it's funny that the combination of Armoroad's and Deep City's forces can create one of the strongest countermeasures against the Deep Ones.

>Arguably the best Hop in the game
I'm gonna be annoying and argue this - I find it incredibly difficult to believe it's better than Hoplite/Ninja, not only because you get two tanks that can cover both rows OR bodyguard two people (say, 2 fragile front liners using berserker vow), but you also get to do cheesy stuff like Otori + Sarutobi. If you factor in elemental walls and proccing dodges, the optimal hoplite doesn't even care about stats a lot of the time. Maybe it depends how much you value bind/ailment resistance, but I never had problems.

Ninja as a subclass is pretty stupid overall though. A different subclass would have to more than double the main class's effectiveness to be a better option. Obviously wildlings are exempt. I think most of the time, the only reason you wouldn't pick a ninja subclass is because you've already used up the 6th slot. Opportunity costs and all that.

You can like what you want but I like 3 much more than the first two (they're still good though). Skill tree designs were much more interesting, limit system was far better than the systems 1/2 had, the introduction of forging allowed for more ways to build each character, and sub-classing allows for so much more flexibility in party creating. Then you have things like getting exp from quests and going back to getting exp from FOEs after 2. I also personally loved the sea map though I do wish you could do the quests with your full party. I also greatly love 4 and it's one of my favorites in the series as well.

A normal classic mode only remake would be fine but it doesn't need and story mode or grimoire stuff from the Untolds. I'd rather they just make 6 already instead of more remakes though.
>>
>>475980548
3 had the chance to be the culmination of the Untold series. Bringing the two previous parties to the game, each party representing one side of the conflict, plus one new OC guy to give Arianna's party her 5th team member.

Also, I can see both Highlander and Gunner fitting in the EOU3 setting, considering we never had a strong spear and gun class in the original game.
>>

Yggfag, would a party built around red bot chases work well? Like having a ygg/monk spam breakfire fists while an arbalist spams fire barrage and a zodiac spams fire star?

>A normal classic mode only remake would be fine but it doesn't need and story mode or grimoire stuff from the Untolds.
Yeah that's fair, whenever I play Untold it's always Classic mode. But I meant like, reworking some of the worse classes like Buccaneer Wildling, and Ninja to be well, less bad. Part of me wants Yggdroid and Shogun to be available earlier, but narratively it makes no sense.

>I'd rather they just make 6 already instead of more remakes though.
Alright fair, I just hope 6 is fairly ambitious. I felt like 3 was the most ambitious game and then afterwards they started playing it more safe.

4 had an entire overworld and 5 was going to have a lot but they ran out of time/budget and that game is STILL my favourite one, they didn't really play it safe at all after 3, I just really hope they keep the race/second name stuff from 5 going forward instead of throwing it out because the races lead to greater customisation in combination with the portrait editing and the second name system made the classes really shine even if the early game felt like you had less because of it.
>>
>>475982115
I wouldn't say any of those classes are "bad" but I wouldn't complain if they got improvements (and obviously they would get new stuff in a remake). Ninja got some nice new things in Nexus already.

I get what you mean. And mechanically, 5 is my favorite too. If I want something to cone back, it's how they handled "pet classes" like Necromancer, pillboxers, and Rover Though I still prefer Survivalist because I like thr utility. Races, I am mixed on. It seemed like a cool idea, but I didn't like how early game all my Earthlains had effectively the same stats. And I hated how there was no portraits for races with non-deafult classes.
Well it realistically isn't feasible, of races were to return, I'd like for them to give classes more skills to fit in with other races. Like I saw the Warlock had this cool energy sword in his portrait and I was extremely dissapointed his melee option was effectively limited to one skill on the Elemancer tree, and there was no "INT build" on Fencer persay.

it took me until the hd remake and trying princess + bucc instead of playing it like final fantasy in first person (like i did with eo1) that it clicked for me. the unconventional strategies in eo3 are pretty sick if you really look at like a skill calculator but the game really discourages that kind of experimentation when you lose so many levels and xp for swapping stuff around.
you could always just do sea quests to level up but that's not super fun just grinding out numbers so you get skill points to properly setup classes.

I think thats it for the first land, each of the two guilds has one unique item per land and then after that they just give you a more generic item if you keep repeating the trades. I don't remember for sure though, however you wont lock yourself out of anything if you go to the next land. They'll still show up in the first land as well as the second, so you can still do the first land trades if you want.

Either way once you get the accessory you're good since the ship parts don't matter that much.

2 is great. It has some problems but I like it a lot. I actually haven't played 2 Untold yet, looking forward to it.

I liked pretty much every thing you listed. The game is an improvement to 1 and 2 but I ended up feeling a bit underpowered in an unfun way then ended up feeling forced into certain strategies. Still like the game though. Could literally be a skill issue on my part.

I'd be very excited to play it if it did. If it doesn't I think I may revisit 3 again some time down the line to see if my feelings change. Though I hope they keep subclassing and just rebalance it instead of adding grimoires.

I try avoiding looking at skill calculators/online strategies just because I prefer it that way. I actually used a Princess and Bucc. Eventually looked at what people were saying online and it felt like everyone was suggesting the same strategies and saying certain classes/skills were worthless. I'm sure it could just the sort of people who super min/maxers (I'm not that sort of person but I respect it). Like I said, ultimately this could be a skill issue.

I'm a sucker for airships. Even though I kind of hate that three of your classes are locked by progress in IV, I still really like the game... almost exclusively because of airships, and the extra axis mapping.

I want 6 to have more vertical movement like the Shrines in Nexus. In addition to raised tiles, I want lowered ones as well, sort of like how the airship maps in 4 had three levels. You could have lowered underwater tiles and thus add diving to the game. Underwater would basically be very similar to damage tiles but instead of damage each step, you'd have a certain amount of turns/steps before the party runs of oxygen and KOs. This could give way to new labyrinth skills and items that give you more turns of oxygen. With lowered tiles you could also start having tunnels and stuff like that.
>>
>>476125619
>Underwater would basically be very similar to damage tiles but instead of damage each step, you'd have a certain amount of turns/steps before the party runs of oxygen and KOs
EO4 had a similar mechanic at the very start where you can only step in the main room for 11? steps before running out automatically. Which seems more in line with what EO would do with that kind of mechanic
>>
>>476126686
There was that small poison maze that had a limited number of steps before you'd pass out, yeah. Sort of like that but this would be turns of oxygen while in underwater tiles and it would display how many turns you have left. It would be more of a recurring gimmick that shows up more often like how normal damage tiles show up in more than one stratum.
>>
>>476125619
>Underwater would basically be very similar to damage tiles but instead of damage each step, you'd have a certain amount of turns/steps before the party runs of oxygen and KOs
Unchained Blades had that mechanic but that game... was not very good, to put it mildly.

Galleria as well

I think tiles that damage, or have a fixed length that you can pass through them (like underwater tiles) could work if you could come back to them with an ability that nullifies the damage.
So, for water tiles, it's a gamble early on whether you'll get lost in the labyrinth underwater and run out of air... but with the payoff being gear that's much better than anything else in that stage of the game.
But then you gain a skill, or an item that allows you to traverse water tiles indefinitely. So going back to the early area gives you something that, at that point in the game, is just okay.
Or it could be like the locked chests in Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, where you come back to them and they're filled with shit.
'here's your herb for remembering this locked door was here, fuck-face.'
>>
>>476127681
Never played the game but I'm sure the reason it's not good is because of many other reasons and not solely due to glorified damage tiles. I just thought that swimming/diving would be one way to utilize lowered tiles, of course not all of them would be underwater. Instead of damage each step, it's just all the damage at once after a certain number of steps.

If I wanted to use a ailment-inflicting farmer, which sub would be the best other than wildling? I assume petrification/instant death doesn't work against bosses so I don't really want to go Ninja and focus on that.

It gets mentioned everytime, but Potato Flowers in Full Bloom is a good one
>>

If Wildling is off the table then Ninja is the only real other ailment choice besides choosing Bucc for the head bind and maybe some memes with chases while holding one of those gimmick weapons with 1 attack and 3 ailment values.

As a fan, I would be remiss in not mentioning the Madou Monogatari series. Game Gear had the full trilogy ported to it (I,II,III not ARS).
You play as a 6 year old climbing a tower with wacky characters and wacky monsters to lift the tone of the game from the fact that you are a SIX YEAR OLD, fighting for your life in a dungeon.
But, you know. They're "illusion monsters", that seem to cause very real damage.
Speaking of, you don't have any numerical way to view your stats. You get a face of Puyo Puyo girl, and how worn she looks determines how hurt she is. Similarly there is something going on for Magic, but it's slightly different between ports.
The ambiguity of how much health you have really added to the drama to me, and from a role-playing sense, makes sense. But... You know... obfuscating such important information from the player is sort of hard to defend, even as a fan.
It's Wizardry-esque, so from your spoiler, you may not like it.
Also... It's hard! In an old-school brutalist kind of way. A, save every 5 steps, kind of way. A... grind out another level, just in case, before moving on to the next floor... kind of way.
But I like it. As far as ports... I think I like Genesis over PC-Engine CD over Game Gear... But by small margins. They're all pretty good.
OG Computer games are MSX and PC-98.
I wouldn't even know where to begin to try to play the originals.

I used a Farmer/Gladiator in my 3HD run and it's pretty good. I gave her a club for access to the panic and head bind attacks. I also fully stun forged it and gave her max stun attack which gave her normal attacks a high stun rate. You need to take some steps to increase act speed for stun attack though (which I did). I had a Princess with Knighthood and a Ninja with suikyou which let me knighthood the panic attack and then spread it to all enemies in the same turn before anything could act. Very good AOE panic combo. The gladiator sub also gives wolf howl which synergizes well with the panic and sleep the farmer should be inflicting. Then to top it all off, I had an arbalist with snipe/sharpshoot to capitalize on the ailments.

It's going to take some RNG to land one and then some more RNG to have it last long enough but they're good when both of these go your way. Panic in particular is one of the best ailments in the series. There were multiple late game bosses in my 3HD run where I landed a clutch panic when the boss was at about 50% health and they lasted long enough for me to burst down the remaining 50%.

As for insta-death, a tiger-focused wildling can and will delete bosses/FOEs with insta-death as long as they're not completely immune. I had a tiger wildling in this run and sometimes would accidentally insta-kill a boss without meaning to because I usually summoned the tiger early on as a tank. I insta-killed the ant queen this way despite being unprepared/under-leveled and Kraken as well. Needless to say, a tiger will do a good job on random encounters as well.

Good to hear it's viable then. My party will probably be:
Hop/Prince(Heal Monk)/Ygg(Fist Monk)
Arbalist(Zodiac)/Farmer(Gladiator)
Hop/Prince/Arbalist/Farmer will all be the young kid-looking portraits and the Ygg will be the new HD one, headcanon will be it's a bunch of dumb kids that found a cool big robot and decided to go into the dungeon with it.

I worry my damage output might be too low with this build though since I'll be relying on only Ygg and Arbalist for damage.
Though I should probably just stop autistically planning like this and instead just play the fucking game and see if the build works out.
>>
>>476143187
I used arb/zodi with a focus on etheric charged snipes, sharpshoots, and barrages and it'll do good damage. Your party is going to have a hard time with damage until sub classing though. Arbalist is strong but they'll be carrying everyone, don't expect the farmer/gladiator to do any damage. I've only ever used a defensive ygg once so I don't know how well they can do when fully focused on offense but yeah, you're going to need them to do some good damage.
>>
>>476143187
I wouldn't recommend you modding the game to have an Ygg from the very beginning because they're very not good at all without a subclass.
>>
>>476144250
Yeah, if the party seems to not work out at all early-game then I might just swap farmer for zodiac and focus fully on red bot chases.

>>476146104
I really don't like replacing/retiring characters though, I like sticking with a party from the start.
I guess I could run a gladiator for the early game then retire them once I unlock yggdroid.
>>
>>476146649
>Yeah, if the party seems to not work out at all early-game then I might just swap farmer for zodiac and focus fully on red bot chases.
Ygg Bots, just like every chaser in the series, gets better if you max the skill and have more ways to proc it (which is why a swashbuckler is their best friend). If you're going for Punch Ygg after unlocking subclasses you won't be able to get both Red Bot and Breakfire Fist effectively.
You need to be level 56 (52 if you retire at 30) to get all core Punch skills (Sleep Mode 10, Rocket Headbutt 1, Rocket Jump 1, Fist Mastery 10, Kikouken 1 (you use it as a basic attack to not get fucked by Overheat), Breakfire Fist 10, Ascetic Deeds 10) plus 20 more levels to get Infravision 10 and Virus Scanner 10 to compensate for Ygg's below average AGI and LUC. That's already level 76.
And the other problem, if you're using Punch Ygg you're not going to use weapons and need as many STR equipment as possible. Meanwhile, Bots really need your Ygg to equip Tomes, TEC equipments and use TEC stat books to make your Bot deal considerable damage.
>I really don't like replacing/retiring characters though, I like sticking with a party from the start.
>I guess I could run a gladiator for the early game then retire them once I unlock yggdroid.
You can just run a Glad and once you unlock Yggs just set the game to Picnic and grind Sea Quests for a bit.
>>
>>476149643
Might be best to give up the red bot slot then to a class who could use it more effectively, maybe I could slap ninja on the hop or prince for better def/buffs. Or give the farmer wildling for even better status spam.
>>
Does the Scylla exploit still work in 3HD?
>>
>Early weapons are easy to forge but have few slots
>Lategame weapons have a lot of slots but require grinding endgame bosses for drops
Please just take my money, I don't want to fight those bosses four times or more, it's not worth +10% damage.
>>
>>476153640
Yes
>>
>>476153640
All exploits and RNG manipulation still work because everything under the hood is identical, except for situations where numbers were changed, which I think happened on Ninja's death infliction and might impact something somewhere? Unsure on that, but there weren't many numerical changes that practically affect you if you're doing RNG abuse like this, you just need to reboot the game each time. You can still farm experience with Penguin and Scylla just fine.
>>
>>476140103
bosses have high instant death resistance and then on top of that a second hidden instant death/petrify resistance that makes a second chance to resist. So usually it's very difficulty to land. Wildling has the advantage of having some additional inflict chance that ignores the enemy's resistance but still has to pass the second check like normal.

Spoilers for U2 story mode in case anyone cares:

So surprise surprise, the ritual requires a sacrifice, but its so hard for me to take this seriously. For one because I've seen this kind of development a million times before and I'm sick of it, but more importantly, every time Ive seen it before the "sacrifice" was always greater than this. Like no one is even fucking dying. MC just has to hang out in a boring temple for 100 years and get cool super powers that he never asked for. As a result, Arianna just comes off as being melodramatic whenever she laments about forcing all this on the Fafnir, and any hope of those scenes having any sort of emotional impact is just lost.

I mean I get it, just because its not murder doesn't mean it's okay to force this on someone, and the characters don't have the same perspective as I do, to know that in comparison to other fictional characters in other universes they're actually getting a pretty good deal. So it makes sense that they would all react this way. Although I can't help but wonder if I'm misunderstanding something, at one point you get the option of saying "You'll come visit me right?" and then they get mad at me for joking around and not taking it seriously. But like, can they not still come and visit? Obviously they won't be able to talk face to face, but I don't see why they wouldn't be able to talk in the same manner as they were with the current black guardian. So he And when theyre not visiting he'll even have something to do; he can work on restoring the temple and clearing out the monsters after Violetta fucked things up last time. Its not the best life, but it could be worse. It honestly doesn't sound that much worse than the life of a normal temple guardian.

Anyway I haven't finished the story yet, but so far I'm disappointed. I had heard that 2U's story was decent, but so far 1U's was better. Also Ricky>Arianna. Maybe the Overlord will make things more interesting.

>I'm disappointed. I had heard that 2U's story was decent
Animetards and waifufags have garbage taste, more news at 7. I knew U2 story was going to be shit as soon as they pussied out of killing Wolfgar or whatever the fuck his name was. To be fair there would have been a big tonal disparity if in the next scene they're arguing about becoming kettles or Chloe being obsessed with meat or whatever anime trope the writers thought of at the time.
EO is just so fucking fun though that I can forgive it, yes ultimately it diminishes the atmosphere and tone but it would still be a good game. I'm grateful that classic mode is still there though, remember when they almost didn't include it?

People only say 2U's story is good because OG 2's story was almost entirely side stories about the characters in the world than it was a connected narrative.
I think 2's story is still much better than 2U's regardless because those stories were all fun and some (like the one where your guild is so desensetized due to to labyrinth they bring back a dude's arm as if that wouldn't make the wife feel even worse) get surprisingly dark, 2U is much more generic anime same with 1U, 1U whitewashing you basically being complicit in a near genocide for the sake of going deeper is something I genuinely fucking hate 1U for.
EO is always at its best when it has a somewhat dark undercurrent to it which is why one of my favourite bits in 4 is if you kill the baby deers, escape then come back you've caused a complete massacre of newbie adventurers.
