Season 2 finale felt way better with the revelation of Yuzuki and Hina's story even if there was no explanation for the cage or what the sun and moon meant. I have to admit, the memories never moved me, they were like the homework I had to do to get to the overworld story, which was interesting. the presentation isn't that good and the writing was long-winded. but I can appreciate it as laying some groundwork for the emotional peaks of the game.

Taro's more comfortable than ever roping DoD into the story too like we saw with the anogg & konogg stories and rein so we could go wild places.Remember that Replicant started with an advanced future where everything had went to shit and the fall of humanity had already started and automata started again thousands of years in where everything was going to shit so there's no problem with taking the ending of rein and creating humanity again for a series of bad mistakes to lead to the downfall of humanity. One seed of destruction / resurrection is all it takes.People get waaaaayyyy too locked into Automata because it was popular but rein was a very good epilogue and base for something more.I personally loved the girl and the monster as a standalone story and I'd be happy if it was kept to just that but I'm happy we got more and I'm okay with the Levania/Mama/Fio ending working as a setup. It'd be sad to see that story with it's beautiful inspiring ending be used to launch another downfall story years in the future but I'm aware of the universe it's in, the beautiful tragedy of Rep/E's ending did not escape me.
