Honestly I would give the DLC a 7/10.The DLC reflects the game as a whole with high highs and low lows. Peaks in the DLC Messmer, Bayle, the legacy dungeons are great, I love the way Shadow Keep is a gateway to other parts of the map and how Messmer is just chilling in the top of it. Messmer has the final boss feel to him in terms of his presentation. It makes me wonder about the development of the DLC and whether that was changed at some point. Because to me the final boss is not very good and feels very half baked, it looks janky as fuck with DS2 looking animations, its a performance nightmare and its blatant fan service fight. I mean if you didnt eyeroll when he does the comet again, gross, it feels 100% like a moment built for streamers to basedface and point at the screen and say "HE DID THE THING AGAIN".Also there was a lot of blown potential in areas like Abyssal Woods, Cerulean Coast even Scadu Atlus where they could have used a couple of small dungeons as they are mostly kind of empty. Abyssal woods is the most unforgivable they really could have used something there. They build up all this atomsphere with the ambient soundtrack and the omnious messages and it equates to a small 30 second stealth section. The area really needed more Lanterns, maybe make a new frenzy enemy, a frenzy themed catacomb and/or cave would have really made the area feel more fleshed out. I mean you already had those Death Blight eyes, why not have a Frenzy version ? Eyes would even thematically fit for Frenzy.

The proof that this DLC is literal fanfiction with its plot points all having been written after the game is the fact the game now states that Miquella wanted to marry radahn since his childhood, when in the base game we know Miquella was trying to bring Godwyn's soul back to give him a proper death. This would have sent Godwyn's soul to the shadow realm, and Miquella would be able to mind rape him. Radahn was hamfisted in there in the last hour because this DLC was rushed and unfinished. It was never Radahn up until now.
My only grief with the DLC is that it doesn't affect anything in the outside world. I'd like just someone to comment on the shit I've done. A new ending would be absolute peak, but at the moment I'd settle for anything.
