He also has two swings into an x slash where one of single swings is basically undodgeable. I feel like a lot of people who feel like pic related are using heavier STR weapons. Colossal weapons are amazing if the enemy can be flinched. For enemies that can not, your pool of safe punishes shrinks dramatically. With a faster weapon, you can actually punish the enemy within their combo. It's a much more back and forth play style. For heavy weapons, the recovery time usually means that you'll trade if you punish like this, and trading in ER is not viable considering most bosses either 2 shot you or will stunlock you to death if you're caught in their combo. You're basically forced to bait the enemy and wait for their combo to finish. This became apparent to me when fighting a crucible knight. With a straight sword, I could jump his ground stomp and hit him, then roll away when he follows up. For my colossal weapon build, when I jump attacked the stomp, I'd be hit by the followup as the recovery time is significantly longer.

Just started the DLC Could only play for a short bit but found the blackgaol knight a bit of a bitch (Almost beat it last attempt before I had to sleep). Found that using a straight sword was a waste of time for how risky it was in the tiny window and how pathetic the damage was. Decided on dodging then using Carian Retailiation whenever he got the crossbow out or I got enough distance.From what I've read, most of the bosses have such tiny windows that regular swords are shit.
