I don't remember the "normal" way to beat them anymore now but you can probably climb to the top, attack, stop, maybe try to cyloop them. Also, increase your stats.

to go into some detail on how badly designed Sonic Frontiers is: One of those little enemies with the shields takes FIVE loops and combo attack chains to defeat. On NORMAL. They decided they wanted a combat system and upgrades and accounted for it by making everything take ungodly amounts of damage. >just upgrade and its easy!You can't upgrade your shit to the max at the beginning of the game dipshit. Are players expected to grind until they max out the stats to even play the game? If so, why have them at all?

One thing that I like about the adventure era is how each story mode would've shown the characters in different light depend who you're playing as. Tails sees Eggman as a scary bastard in SA1 unlike Sonic, and Shadow sees Sonic as a total doofus in Shadow05. I hope they bring that back someday, it's a good way of showing how the cast actually see each other.
