Like powerful long-range spell mages, and big damage jump attack spam, quick-hitting bleed proc weapons, etc. They need to be able to tank through big hits enough times, be able to close the gap so they don't get kited too easily, and need to keep up the pressure so people don't just stack statuses on them. The end result is fromsoft biting off more than they can chew, they had to keep the bosses and make them crazier and crazier because the variation from build to build was huge. Eventually it turned into this mismash of a ton of tools that every boss has to have, like gap closers, long-range attacks/projectiles, flask punishes, long combo strings. So everything feels more like the same. This is why universal band-aids like summons exist because if a casual player can't hack it then they at least have a huge catch-up tool to prevent them from getting frustrated from these crazy boss designs. The only fix to this is to pull back on how strong the player is so they don't have to overcompensate with the boss's tools and in an open world game like elden ring where they need to put a ton of different stuff in the game to keep it interesting as well as account for the possibility that anyone can be overleveled for any particular area no matter when they are "supposed" to be there, thats never gonna happen.

Perhaps the putrescent knight’s ghostflame is the original blackflame, in it’s full power? I just wish it reflected in the other ghostflame spells in the shadow lands. The unique grave violets in the dlc are also vibrant blue. Maliketh’s original destined death was black, gold, red….and violet. Probably cut because of the color clashing.
