I guarantee you that everyone who's ever fought these guys starts thinking "ok I get the fucking point, why are you so tanky" at stagger 2/3 needed for the crit, and then it's a two-cycle operation without the furnace pot trick. There's pretty much no excuse for this nonsense. It sucks.

I actually think the boss design in the expansion is a noticeable improvement compared to the base game. Namely, I like how for many of the bosses the second phase builds upon the first phase instead of replacing it, spicing things up by adding new attacks or damage zones while still being centered around the core moveset from the first phase. I always found it strange how Gurranq/Maliketh, Godfrey/Hoarah Loux, and Radagon/Elden Beast were completely different bosses sharing the same fight.
