I have this problem too, even when gamma and brightness are up it's impossible to see shit at night. It's not really that it's dark, it's that there's a fucking milky white filter over my vision or something. It just makes everything look clouded instead of a clear dark night.

Why are they so fucking tanky? And why does the old sidestep to avoid the leap not really work anymore? I can avoid the leap and the knockdown that comes with it, but it stays right on top of me and swipes me for 90% of my hp per hit. I was able to cheese this one with terrain, but I'm genuinely at a loss on how to properly deal with this. Other than just running away.

Each console title update has to go through a certification process with potentially three tiers.
Bronze, Silver, Gold.

A Mosin would make for a nice early rifle, some kind of hunting shotgun earlyish and a KS-23 for late game would be sick.

they haven't figured out how to tweak offline A-Life yet and that seems to be the main issue.
if offline A-Life isn't functioning as it should, it means that actors outside your spawning range are not roaming around as they are supposed, which means that they will never roam into your spawning range to be brought online to begin with.
there's a version of this mod that tweaks spawning range to ridiculous distances and comments are saying that it just breaks the game.

So I legit got soft locked in my SoC run. In yantar when you do the quest to get the psi helmet thing the bunker door is just perma locked and the assistant scientist is stuck walking into it after escorting him. I tried reloading, killing him, shooting for door, grenades, killing the enemies behind the bunker, nothing works. Has anyone else had this happen? I mean yeah, most games do this. They get this perfect representations where everything falls into place for major trailers/presentations. Hell, all industries do this. The amount of times I've seen presentations from companies trying to sell me their product and its implemented perfectly in perfect conditions is a lot. This is not a new thing.

That being said, I don't think this trailer was that far off. Obvious animations around picking up an anomaly or the bf2042 style attachment behavior aren't in the game. But I wouldn't say my experience in the game has been that far off from what the trailer represented so far.

CoC and Analmeme started off with already insane item bloat due to carryover from Misery. Gamma only made it worse by adding even more shit on top of that. People roasted it as a lazy joke modpack but its really come a long way since then.

Gamma has gotten WAY better over the past few versions and streamlined a ton of mechanics. The next update is going to remove artifact containers, rebalance artifacts, belt addons, and armor stats, and remove overall weapon condition so the only repairs you do are to the parts.

Think it depends on what made you "love" the original series. In terms of atmosphere/feel, they have it nailed down. Where it is struggling? Difficulty is a bit "effy". Some mutants take way too many hits to kill in my opinion. Enemies are way to quick to throw grenades (you go into cover and bandage, before you finish bandaging yourself they threw a nade lol. Its annoying after awhile). There's a big focus on inventory management. There's also some economy issues at the endgame where costs seem to be out of balanced. All those things can be fixed with mods or just a patch that will probably come within the following months. Story wise I'm liking it. Feels on par with s1.

Performance wise, I've god a mid/upper mid tier machine and its fine. I'm getting around 100 fps. Towns/areas with lots of NPCs it drops for sure to about 40-60.

I think the biggest issue people are upset about is that A-Life 2.0 isn't quite working as well as 1.0 did in stalker 1. Right now the experience is more like what you'd find in say Fallout. Where its a random encounter that spawns near your location. Its a disappointment for sure, but I wouldn't say its a dealbreaker for me personally. I'm still having fun with it.

Its been interesting seeing the reception. Ignoring that some bad actors are paying for people to give the game a bad review, its been interesting seeing the criticisms and where they're sourced from. You have people who really want A-life and are upset with 2.0. You have people who like anomaly/gamma and wanted s2 to be more like those games. I think most people don't care about those things which is why the game has been able to maintain a 75% positive rating on steam.

- engine.ini tweaks do bring some performance gains and lower the occurence of low 1%s
- upgrading dlss to 3.8.10 might improve visuals slightly but has no performance gains
- any fsr updates are a total wash

if you scope in from the broken train to slag heap (200 meters), the game can't even load slag heap properly because of obvious restraints, let alone the NPCs that are guarding that zone.

Yeah there's been a few "MMORPGs" over the years that have tried to capitalize on the desire for a multiplayer verison of stalker. All came out of eastern EU I believe. I don't think any of them really took of. They still have some populations, but not huge ones. They all heavily involve PvP though. There's been more in the past 20 years but I think these are the three that are still "alive". Pretty much every type of "multiplayer stalker" game has heavily involved PvP. Probably why they keep failing. I think Stalcraft X has been able to keep a population because even with a shit machine, its easy to run (graphics look like minecraft). I think its also fairly fast paced. I didn't play will to live too much, I played anomaly zone for like 100 hours. You do a lot of walking in anomaly zone haha. Things take awhile to do anything. I think stalcraft heavily reduced this time which helped lend to its success.

Without A-Life, I have no interest in this game, there is just an overwhelming sense of fakeness in everything that you do outside of just the railroaded quests. The Zone just sits still waiting for the player to activate another quest to run, there is no emergent gameplay or scenarios to be had.

I wish you could get some brief information about the NPCs you're interacting with like in the old games. Such as moving your cursor over them to get the names and their affiliation or their disposition towards you, or when you're looting their bodies. I fought some guys but I don't know if they're bandits or some other faction.
I suppose that requires a reputation system, which I believe to be part of the A-Life system that this game lacks. The game's been out for only three days and I'm already itching for an "Enhanced" edition with tons of QoL fixes, balancing and A-Life brought back in.
