What's so uniquely fucked about Diablo 1 that Wine has never been able to render its menu? The game came out 47 years ago and they still haven't figured it out.
Yes I know about DevilutionX and it's great but it's not vanilla.

So apparently Firefox is flopped and shitted now. To be honest, the only reason I'm using it is that it's the default web browser on Linux Mint (which is also garbage, experts say, but please don't bully me). What web browser should I be using on GNU/Linux? I'd prefer one that's usable on Linux Mint without any bullshit (such as compiling it myself or running it through Flatpak).
>But how is this related to gaming?
Sometimes I need to open a web browser in order to download a legally purchased computer game installer from GOG.com so that I can enjoy its contents to the fullest extent permitted by the license agreement contained therein.
Also I don't want to ask /g/ because they'll just tell me to install Gentoo.
Also it's an excuse to bump the only 4chan thread where mentioning Linux doesn't summon the Windows defense force.

Too bad I have to re-encode anyway because 4chan doesn't allow audio channels and if I simply tell OBS to record in .mp4 with no audio tracks it says "you must select at least one track".
Someone even requested a video-only feature and they said no.

7:9? What a weirdo resolution.
>open desktop entry file
>add `gamescope -w 224 -h 288 -S integer -F nearest -f -- ` to the start of the Exec field
That's better.
I had to squint to see that the scaling wasn't perfect before, but I can't just let these things slide. Come hell or high water, I will have my evenly sized pixels if it's the last thing I do.

>>
>>503410614
You don't sound like a boomer.
>>
>>503502829
Valve's Proton README says it's enabled by default, so that probably applies to custom Proton builds (like GE) as well. I think I do remember some old ProtonDB reports recommending the use of "PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 %command%" or whatever, so it probably wasn't enabled by default in old versions of Proton, but if you're using a recent one then it's probably enabled already.
As for Wine itself, I have no idea.
>>
I stopped playing this for a while when I got to the theater level, because I remembered not liking it, but it has its funny moments. The set-switching mechanic is an interesting idea too, even if the implementation is a bit tedious.
I'm past that now, and it turns out I don't remember the catwalks at all. It's been a long time since I played this.
Obligatory "yes I could run it in widescreen but then the UI and cutscenes would be stretched and the DLL-based widescreen patch doesn't work for the Linux version". (I wonder how hard it would be to make the same mod for the Linux version. But I lack the expertise to do it, in any case.)
>>
I made the gpu screen recorder overlay ui work on wayland now through xwayland (this ui based on nvidia shadowplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOqXusCTXXA). There are some caveats on wayland but global hotkeys work on x11 and all wayland compositors.

ive been meaning to ask, but with this update to obs
https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2024/07/obs-studio-302-is-out-now-with-native-nvenc-encode-for-linux/
doesn't this do the same exact thing gpu-screen-recorder does?
>>
>>503518330
It sounds like it but the performance in obs is still worse. The about page of gpu screen recorder mentions a bit about that. The recording fps when gpu utilization is 100% is also worse in obs, see this example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfj4sNVLLLg
Somebody did a performance test of gpu screen recorder vs obs as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdroRjibsDw (this is after obs 30.2 was released so it includes that performance improvement in obs)
>>
