The worst holiday, now that the smell of grandma's cooking is just a memory...Oh well.Gaming™raze, proton, bottles, proton, nativenative, bottles, native, native, bottlesnative, proton, native, native, proton
>>503312848>raze, proton, bottles, proton, native>native, bottles, native, native, bottles>native, proton, native, native, protonOops, I lied. Super House of Dead Ninjas isn't native. I'm using Proton for that. Might as well be native though.
>try GOG version of Diablo using Wine>menu isn't visible except in a little box around the cursor>assume it must be due to some meddling that GOG did for their "preservation" (read: Windows 11 compatibility) initiative>check retail version on AppDB>basically the same problemWhat's so uniquely fucked about Diablo 1 that Wine has never been able to render its menu? The game came out 47 years ago and they still haven't figured it out.Yes I know about DevilutionX and it's great but it's not vanilla.
>>503312848we are so back
We can upload mp4s (h264) now, no need for re-encoding after recording
>>503337021idk, already have to encode to meet the tiny file limit so might as well use the format with higher compression
>>503337021wtf? neat
I think your lgg might have died
i love limux gaming
So apparently Firefox is flopped and shitted now. To be honest, the only reason I'm using it is that it's the default web browser on Linux Mint (which is also garbage, experts say, but please don't bully me). What web browser should I be using on GNU/Linux? I'd prefer one that's usable on Linux Mint without any bullshit (such as compiling it myself or running it through Flatpak).>But how is this related to gaming?Sometimes I need to open a web browser in order to download a legally purchased computer game installer from GOG.com so that I can enjoy its contents to the fullest extent permitted by the license agreement contained therein. Also I don't want to ask /g/ because they'll just tell me to install Gentoo. Also it's an excuse to bump the only 4chan thread where mentioning Linux doesn't summon the Windows defense force.

>>503362697>chromium sandboxing is broken on linuxin what way?
>>503337021Too bad I have to re-encode anyway because 4chan doesn't allow audio channels and if I simply tell OBS to record in .mp4 with no audio tracks it says "you must select at least one track".Someone even requested a video-only feature and they said no.https://ideas.obsproject.com/posts/2665/video-only-export>just use gpu-screen-recorderI think my GPU is too ancient.
>>503369614What gpu do you have? lol. But gpu screen recorder does have the option to record with cpu, despite what the name of the program is. Although I dont know how good the performance is with cpu recording.
>>503370106>What gpu do you have?
>>503371796It seems like HD 7000 series was the first generation to support video encoding, but I dont know if vaapi and ffmpeg supports it. Did you try recording with it?
>>503372224I tried it once and couldn't get it to work but it may have been a skill issue.
FinallyTHE threadI've tried Stalker 2 and it was horrible
Yeah...
This was just embarrassing
lmao
>>503383761Yeah looks janky but might be good after years of patches Gunslinger mod when?
Ok, enough with Stalker 2.It was a very retarded idea to force Lumen as an only lighting option.
>>503385583>Gunslinger mod when?Gunslinger mod development was ceased
>>503386235Thats sad but predictable, kind of the fate of all overambitious stalker mods, and he was going to have to spend hours doing studio level animation to finish it.
>>503375986Use the GTK version for a UI just to see if it works, then use the terminal for regular use.

It's rare that I have an excuse to rotate my monitor. Why did Locomalito remove this version of the game from his web site? There's only the black-and-white one now. Oh well.MangoHud won't show up on this game even with --dlsym but I don't care enough to find out why.

>>503396839Wait a minute. That's not integer scaling. SON OF A BITCH>launch separate "settings" executable>change from "Fullscreen : 100% proportional" to "Windowed - scale x1">save settings>launch game>take window screenshot>close game>open screenshot in GIMP (it's okay I don't need to draw a circle)>crop out the title bar>cropped image is 224x2887:9? What a weirdo resolution.>open desktop entry file>add `gamescope -w 224 -h 288 -S integer -F nearest -f -- ` to the start of the Exec fieldThat's better.I had to squint to see that the scaling wasn't perfect before, but I can't just let these things slide. Come hell or high water, I will have my evenly sized pixels if it's the last thing I do.

Anyone else find that they consistently have to change to Proton Experimental for multiplayer to function in games now?
>>503497082Uhh... no? My multiplayer games are working just fine under latest GE-Proton.

Does proton and wine enable large adress aware by default or do I have to set it?
>>503410614You don't sound like a boomer.
>>503502829Valve's Proton README says it's enabled by default, so that probably applies to custom Proton builds (like GE) as well. I think I do remember some old ProtonDB reports recommending the use of "PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 %command%" or whatever, so it probably wasn't enabled by default in old versions of Proton, but if you're using a recent one then it's probably enabled already. As for Wine itself, I have no idea.
I stopped playing this for a while when I got to the theater level, because I remembered not liking it, but it has its funny moments. The set-switching mechanic is an interesting idea too, even if the implementation is a bit tedious.I'm past that now, and it turns out I don't remember the catwalks at all. It's been a long time since I played this.Obligatory "yes I could run it in widescreen but then the UI and cutscenes would be stretched and the DLL-based widescreen patch doesn't work for the Linux version". (I wonder how hard it would be to make the same mod for the Linux version. But I lack the expertise to do it, in any case.)
I made the gpu screen recorder overlay ui work on wayland now through xwayland (this ui based on nvidia shadowplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOqXusCTXXA). There are some caveats on wayland but global hotkeys work on x11 and all wayland compositors.

I've just downloaded and installed this old ass WALL-E game because...I remember watching the movie back in 2008 and then my parent bought the game. Got some scratches on the disk so the retarded DRM sometimes won't recognize it.
>>503505736ive been meaning to ask, but with this update to obshttps://www.gamingonlinux.com/2024/07/obs-studio-302-is-out-now-with-native-nvenc-encode-for-linux/doesn't this do the same exact thing gpu-screen-recorder does?
>>503518330It sounds like it but the performance in obs is still worse. The about page of gpu screen recorder mentions a bit about that. The recording fps when gpu utilization is 100% is also worse in obs, see this example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfj4sNVLLLgSomebody did a performance test of gpu screen recorder vs obs as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdroRjibsDw (this is after obs 30.2 was released so it includes that performance improvement in obs)
>>503518961and vulkan video encoding support in gpu screen recorder is being worked on and with that the performance gap will increase further. Vulkan video encoding gives much better performance for nvidia.
>>503518961>>503519493neat thanks :D

>>503521686Is there a future where windows just works? I remember trying to play gta V on windows and it just failed with a random number as error when it worked fine on linux. People online said you have to install different visual c++ runtime libraries, I did that and it still didn't work. After 40 minutes I figured out the issue. It turns out I had to install window media player files (not the software itself) since it wasn't installed by default in the european version of windows.

i feel like trying out void linux musl but it feels memeyhave this quote stuck too>Reminder that musl is meaningfully less performant than glibc. You will actually get lower performance out of alpine than other distros. Who cares if your shit is marginally smaller on disk when it's slower in reality.
