I'm not even justifying it in-universe, yeah all of this like most things are Eggman's fault, I'm just pointing out that the game does go out of its way to show you Infinite is fucked up and gets off to killing people while they avoid those ideas with Eggman for a reason. The War is, like everything regarding the game, an illusion, and once the main characters figure that out it quickly stops being a war and starts being Eggman and Infinite bickering with each other while the good guys stop their plans.
