On the first day of the test I posted about how I played a bit duo queuing tank with a friend and thought it was fine but didn't grab me. Since then I've played a bit more in different situations, including playing different roles and tanking with randoms and my opinion of it has lowered quite a bit.When I was tanking alongside a Reinhardt main who shares half my brain cells, we could manage just fine, but in every other situation tanking usually felt pretty bad. Needing to tailor my choice of tank to match my teammate's tank sucks. Needing to keep careful tabs on the what the other tank is doing lest I engage alone and die instantly sucks. Pushing 99% of a payload map only for the continuous trickle of tanks and supports to lead to a 4 minute overtime fight sucks. Getting held at a chokepoint for several minutes is something I absolutely did not miss from OW1.The more I played it, the more the flaws outweighed any of its advantages in my eyes.

As an OW2 only player that is used to getting tank 66% of the time when I go flex I must say 6v6 is just awful, the ability to carry as a tank is tuned way down, so if your other tank is a mercy player off-role or the DPS players are the average DPS player (braindead) you are just fucked.

The biggest problem with 6v6 is just how spammy and crowded the game is with 12 players. There were so many times in OW1 where the fights became impossible to read because of all the particle effects blasting off at the same time, or you literally couldn't peek a corner without a shield tank in front of you because there's so many projectiles concentrated down a chokepoint. I was always flabbergasted that such a polished game could have such glaring flaws in its design, and I feel like 5v5 alleviated most of these issues in a big way. Genuinely don't understand how anyone could disagree with this or want to go back to how things used to be.

After logging in over 80 hours of Rival this last 2 weeks and reaching diamond rank I have come to the conclusion that I took Overwatch for granted, I logged a few rounds of overwatch last night and found myself actually having fun again,What I thought was mindless anti-fun design was actually the opposite. The amount of CC you can spam in rivals is infuriating, Overwatch has mechanics to actively avoid this, and to avoid ults. Overwatch might have its problems but I have to finally admit that their hero balancing is generally much more fair than I realized.The obvious elephant in the room is Role Queue, it is absolutely necessary and actively aids in stopping toxicity. I thought OW was toxic but man it is nothing compared to the amount of screaming when 4 people instalock dps.All in all having played another game and dealing with its mechanics, I have finally been able to see that maybe Overwatch isnt actually that bad. I wish the game the best and I hope that having competition in the hero shooter genre encourages BOTH games to grow and change.
>>507205618I can live with no role queue, but the general jank like poor feedback and shitty audio/visual design really gets old. There's also no real consistency from visual to mechanics either. Like I can't even remember off the top of my head if Mantis is projectile or hitscan, most people still don't know Hela is hitscan not projectile, etc. OW has plenty of problems but the polish isn't just skin aesthetics, it's fine tuned visual and audio too.
