This sounds way more emergent than that other anon's examples, but could also edge on irrelevant speedrunner exploit. I think for gameplay to be emergent, it needs to a good solution to a problem that actually needs solving. If you can get through the levels of the game with far more simple, obvious solutions, then the "emergent" solution becomes irrelevant. Some "emergent" exploits become relevant only to speedrunners because they have tighter requirements on what they need to do in the game.

We're trying to come up with a definition for the genre. A strong definition needs to be necessary and sufficient, which you haven't even come close to, but we can give you the benefit of the doubt and relax the standards as far as we can. Even with as much leniency as I can reasonably offer, I don't think you've done a good job of defining the genre. If you want to define the genre by emergent gameplay, then you should show that your genre has more emergent gameplay than other genres. You can't just give examples of common bugs/jank found in nearly all 3D RPGs, most of which you would not call an imsim, and use those to define what is an imsim. Saying "if it has stealth, it's an imsim" is a better definition at this point.

You might not understand this, but we're having this conversation in the first place because I honestly like the idea of immersive sims. I would love it if they were good games that succeeded more. However, the reality is that they are not. They run up against technical and financial limitations very quickly. The devs make compromises and then end up with a game that feels unimmersive and unfun to anyone with a high enough IQ to see past the illusion, which honestly isn't a very high bar with all the compromises they are forced to make.

I'm not sure I can confirm. I can certainly get a gf, I just have to stop being such a coward. Though at the rate things are going there is a chance I can make a 100 review or better game before my cowardice comes to an end. Which comes first though? The game or the gf? I work on my game every day for the last few months without so much as a single day off.
