Alright fellas I might be retarded and too proud to watch a video essay on it but was Faust meant to literally be Doctor the entire time or some sort of sentient part of the noosphere that can inhabit and mimic humans like Doctor?

When you meet him at first he's presented as ex-Monolith like the rest of Noontide but still enthralled by the rock; he also talks about being a stalker once and suddenly hearing the voices in his post-fight dialogue, and it's later revealed that his psychic powers come from being converted into a human version of a controller through an X-Lab experiment. This is what we get at face value from dialogue but it seems he's capable of more than what gets let on by Dvopalov et al. - he can change the time of day, visually shows the noosphere's network to Skif (these could be hallucinations though), taps into the noosphere/C-Con at old Clear Sky base - even mentions his own original fate(s)? (shot by loners, found with a stone around his neck, Operation Monolith)

I'm kind of leaning on the latter on him being some sort of entity that possesses Doctor because a. you physically kill him but he still can talk to you after death (and possibly other deaths), b. when you do kill him, all of the apparitions you killed during the fight's corpses are named Faust (this might have been a bug though), and c. his motivations aren't the same as Doctor's but are a little similar - Doctor feels remorse over creating the Zone and has a duty to be compassionate to its creations, the Monolith is a product of the Zone and Faust is dead-set on revering what the Monolith can gave him (like the 1979 movie) which is originally happiness for all (like Red from Roadside).

Sorry for the trailless schizobabble and if I'm just missing something minor but I have a hard time buying that Faust is just supposed to have literally been Doctor the whole time as its shown in the Skif ending.

I love this shit, outside Icarus base theres a ward outpost, first time I went there several rodents attacked it, easy. The noise must have attracted some bandits and around 6 turned up, half way through the fight about 6 boars ran into the fight followed by 2 bloodsuckers. I disagree with you about CrommCruac's overhauls. Atmosfear and Absolute Nature look great, even though they change the vanilla art style. Absolute Structures on the other hand often looks out of place. This is why I like to keep my textures vanilla, because they still look good with other texture mods.

These ones are out in the open, or at least they're supposed to be. I had one spawn inside a concrete wall with no way to do damage to it while it kept chucking things at me and spawning acid anomalies on my ass. Reloading a save didn't help, the fucker always spawned inside the wall.

Out of frustration I used the XKillThemAll UETools command, which according to descriptions is only supposed to kill hostile NPCs. However, doing this apparently killed Richter, which I only found out about 5 hours later when I was about to progress through the main story. This fucked up my save in all kinds of ways and I've been starting every quest since that with console commands since it's fucked up now.

So yeah, that area is fucking cancer in more ways than one

I've never been big into mods, but I'm 20 hours in and so far it feels like a better vanilla experience than CoP, so there. Artifact hunting is fun, exploration is fun, side quests are unique and fun. The one gripe I have with the game is the fact that it has random encounters in addition to A-Life spawns now. At least A-Life itsels actually fucking works with the latest patch.

Stalker 2 definitely focuses more on close to mid range encounters. Was using the bolt action for shits and giggles last night when ward attacked malachite base. I've had this exact problem in a fight against two burers once, it's probably a memory leak. If the game is still responding to inputs at all, try to get to the graphics and change some settings, ideally lower them. This should release some of the memory if it's a VRAM issue.

I have had both RAM and VRAM leaks since 1.1. The system RAM ones are more common. I think I've had one VRAM leak and 4-5 system RAM leaks. When it's out of system memory, it crashes. When it's the VRAM issue it just slows down massively but changing graphics settings can clear it

I played the SHIT out of the originals. I must have beaten SoC at least 60 something times alone. Stalker 2 is a solid Stalker game by every metric. They improved on a lot of stuff, the only real complaint I have is combat AI for non mutants (mutants are fantastic in S2 the best in the whole series and actually a challenge at times). I think the game attracted a much larger audience than the originals did and people had expectations of a Fallout game - which Stalker absolutely isn't. There's also the Gamma/Misery crowd who are very specific with what they like and aren't happy that S2 plays like SoC and CoP, they wanted more crafting, grinding for materials, and items.
If you enjoy the original games you will love Stalker 2. I only hope they make combat AI for human enemies better.

In complete honesty the A-Life thing is a bit of a meme. Today in Stalker 2 I came across a random Stalker sitting on a hill idling by a fire. I went afk there for a couple minutes then ran off for about 20 minutes and came back and he was still there. It's definitely a WiP but I also think people kind of exaggerate the A-Life in the past games. Let's not forget the bug outs like a pack of dogs spawning in at a regions spawn entrance when you loaded into the region and insta gibbing you. I noticed a much stronger A Life in the last patch so I'm optimistic they'll improve on it with time. For me it's not an issue. I think Stalker 2 did sound incredibly well. Yes the map is big but honestly if it wasn't people would have complained about that fact too.

This is what happened for me too. This plays like the originals but modern, right down to the rushed 2nd half of the story barely making sense and then a drawn out, disconnected finishing level. I don't think people remember how bullet-spongy enemies were and how rpg-like the gun balance was in the OG. I like anomaly/misery but as a different game that's more like a gunporn sim where ballistics are realistic and so every gun is a matter of taste more than stats.

One thing I miss isn't the A-Life being clumps of enemies shooting each other sometimes but instead the PDA ranking and other fluff. Modded A-Life beats all though and I miss shooting some guy in misery and finding 3 hours of activity in his backpack, artifacts and all.

The SKAT military suit is usually pretty good for the ending sequence, it offers decent radiation and bullet protection without restricting your mobility. But if you need more armour, there's a permanent stash in one of the hallways with an exoskeleton and a bunch of armour-boosting artefacts.

I had all the stamina artifacts for sprinting everywhere. Its my first time playing so I had no idea radiation was a concern in the last mission. Although it is an exploded nuclear reactor I just never thought about it. I just beat the game but got a bad ending where I wish to be rich. I think Radar with its lethal radiation spots near every abandoned car by the road should give you a good understanding of how much of an issue radiation's going to be from that point on.
If you want to explore the rest of the game, you can just revert to a save before the CNPP and backtrack all the way to Cordon for side content and the true ending. This way you'll have more chance to see the A-life in action, since most of the NPCs aren't allowed to leave their gulags until certain points in the main story, and the Zone becomes fully dynamic only by the time you go to the Brain Scorcher, so you don't usually get to see most of it.

Idk. I'm playing on stalker difficulty not having an issue making money. Early on, it's difficult since guns are pretty worthless and the echo detector is a bit difficult to use. Later on, you should have more than enough to know what to do with. Are you going for headshots? Using shotguns vs mutants? Running from mutants if there's nothing around the place they're at?

Food is great. I use those instead of medkits. Beer/alcohol a shit and I spam use them when my carry weight gets too high. Most guns are shit though. APS and bukit are probably the best in terms of weight to value ratio but I usually try for a 3000k:1kg when looting nowadays.
