https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Main_Page

Read the General problems FAQ before asking questions. If you still need help, post your specs (HWiNFO screenshot), OS, emulator version number and details of what's wrong.

Please contribute to the wiki if you discover any inaccuracies or have relevant information to append.

READ THE WIKI BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS LIKE:
>Where do I get games
OR
>What is the best emulator for...

Check out the wiki for the emulator you're using if you run into trouble, there may be a solution there too, often including recommendations for optimal game settings.

As far as emulation quality, goes, yeah. There's no way it goes further than what you get on PC and in many ways it's not as accurate because the DE10's too potatoey.
As far as lag and 15khz TV functionality goes, it is the real deal. It matches my OLED+VRR+1frame ahead setup without the asterisks of run-ahead on my CRT and it handles mode switches better than emudrivers to a TV. If you're not using a CRT-TV, there's basically no point, though. You can also pair it with a PC and use it as a LAN video card to your TV. This gets you super-low latency with all the accuracy/CPU power benefits of PC emulation.

Numbers like that don't mean a whole hell of a lot when arches differ so much, as they did in that era. They're so differently abled with strengths/features missing entirely from one to the other it's nuts. GC is more powerful on the whole but PS2 can still draw alpha and polygons like a mofo.

>>
>>538399054
What in the hell are you talking about? Go back. I don't care about any of that and post nearly exclusively here. 6th gen consoles were all basically lightyears from each other in hardware differences. There was a general sliding scale of power from PS2, GC, to Xbox, sure, but GPU features varied yugely and they all sucked at doing one or two things the other could do.
>>
(cont.) because they were so different, and because devs were under crunch to warp the same game to fit on each -- and were dealing with early 2000s workstations and tools -- the end products were bad ports that didn't paint the whole picture on console capabilities as well. They did get better toward the end of the generation, though.
>>
PS2 does have some raunchy image quality and used every dirty CRT-TV trick in the book, though.

Day 2 in my emulation journey! May it be fruitful. I've wanted to emulate for the longest time and just never bothered to, and eventually just realized I have no excuse not to just dive in. I had an interest, so I persued it. Hopefully I can learn more about computers doing this because I've been inept for the longest time. I have learned a couple of things, but when I learn about things it's a repeating cycle of "I'm figuring things out" and "I know absolutely nothing". I think I have a low IQ.

Only a couple of indirectly related things so far, but as for what I don't know in general, well, I kind of lose sight of what I do know and then feel a bit lost again. It could be a mindset thing. There's only 1 roadblock I've arrived at so far, which I spoke of in the last thread, and that was turning an ISO into an XISO for XEMU. Anon's told me of an online xiso maker thing, and I got an XISO file from it (or at least a file with that extension), but it refused to run, so I don't know what's up with that. I won't ask further questions about it though. I'm making a commitment to (or trying at least) to learn as much as I can myself until I run into a wall.

Odd how China has completely skipped over the mini HTPC trend. They make everything cheap except that. They even make handhelds that can play PS1 and PS2, but they can’t take the board out or add HDMI support? This is, no kidding, the ONE thing I’ve seen China drop the ball with in regard to cheap electronics.

>>538446156
Thanks. I'm a bit of an idiot for not checking there, but I'm guessing that the file I had titled ISO was actually already in the state it needed to be to run, it just wasn't titled with the extension .xiso so it didn't know how to read it, and perhaps this is why the converter/extractor (I don't realy know what it was to be honest) wasn't giving me a usable .xiso. The emulator told me a couple of different things depending which version I put in, one of which was the emulator mistaking it for a DVD. Anyways I fired up Ninja Gaiden and, save a few stutters it ran pretty great, more or less like I've experienced it on an actual console.

Speaking of mapper compatibility, NintendulatorNRS supports nearly all of them. If you go to PPU > Emulate All PPU Quirks, it will score a point higher than Mesen. Once enabled, it will pass the "PPU RESET FLAG" test, but this is disabled by default because some pirate multicart menus don't play nicely with that function.

I do have a question out of curiousity. Is it typical for people to title their files with a ".xiso" included to get the iso to work? I didn't realize there was a show extension thing, it should have been obvious, I just never thought about it because I always thought it just showed you those extensions for some reason, which kinda doesn't make sense because I look at the files, but I don't know. They work as isos but not without the .xiso in the filename section.

Well I'm realizing now maybe the file I used that worked was from the online .xiso thing, and maybe there was a confusion becasue I had multiple files for it. I ran the the Black version of Ninja Gaiden, and that one didn't work simply from a retitiling, instead I got the same problems as I did before with the 04 version of Ninja Gaiden, but when I put it through the online .xiso thing it gave me a file that worked. I might be confusing things.

I stick to portable software on my computers, with the one exception being virtualization software (virtualbox and vmware). For Java, I've got my own custom scripts that use JPortable. You won't find JDownloader2 on my machine, though; I've been using HTTP Downloader for over four years, and it's always worked great for me.

I don't know, emulation feels overwhelming for me, and I think it might be better to get a Switch 2 and pay for NSO to access GameCube games instead of using an illegal pirated copy on Dolphin Emulator.

We should support publishers and developers, as without them, we wouldn't have games in the first place. It's important to follow and uphold U.S. laws on this matter, regardless of whether we are American citizens or not. Our poor practices harm the U.S., especially since many publishers and developers are based there.

At the end of the day, you can make your own choices, but when facing justice, remember that you were warned. I genuinely want the best for each and every one of you.

May God be with you.
>>
>>538609491
I always wonder why people even believe this mentality. Most people from the 6th generation and before don't even work in the gaming industry anymore besides a few "auteurs". And one or two people don't carry the quality of a whole game from a AAA company. They're all mostly shells of their former selves, so the money isn't going to anybody you would want to support if they made something 20 years ago. Is it just some easy moralistic shit to convince yourself without thinking about it? Why are people like this?

Also, while I'm sure the demo is supposed to be playable. Seems silly that it would softlock you into an attract mode, I wish I could see evidence of it being played on hardware. Maybe it was a bad batch. I doubt this disc had the QA of a typical release. Sadly I don't have a Saturn and likely no one will be willing to try it. Something that happens on all emus does put it into question, though. The Mister Saturn core is at least as hacky as any PC emulator, if not more.

Not nearly enough resolution to pull this off or you scaled it after the fact, making it look fucked up for us. Even zoomed in. Provide original resolution shots and you probably need to be on 4K, conservatively 1440p, for a shader like this.

Sixaxis or Gyro works well for Wii emulation. I used to emulate the Wii Motion Plus using the Steam Controller's Sixaxis and its right trackpad as the WiiMote's pointer. Using gyro as a mouse for lightgun games, I managed to beat Snatcher by utilizing the Sixaxis as the MD Justifier... Gyro as Joystick to emulate Namco's NeGcon...

The Steam Controller is amazing and incredibly versatile, but its steep learning curve is likely the main reason it failed. It seems to cater to enthusiasts while being too challenging for casual users. It's surprising that there are no videos on YouTube truly showcasing its full potential.

To be fair, the DualShock 4 V2 is pretty solid, but the trackpad isn’t great, and it’s missing dual-stage triggers. Still, it’s not too far behind if you’re willing to experiment with unconventional setups that might suit your style.

My SC isn’t "dead," but the gyro drift is too noticeable, and I have to recalibrate it every 3 to 5 minutes... It’s not worth it, but as a "conventional" gamepad (like an Xbox or GameCube controller), it’s still usable.

I hope I’m not coming across as overbearing or overly enthusiastic; I just really enjoy sharing and discussing things I’m passionate about.

Nah that's cool, good explanation. Out of all those uses you suggested, emulating a NeGcon is what has sparked my interest. Also, Wii emulation, but not too much. Is any game good to go with motion control? I ask since the Wiimote's got a very particular shape and is to be handled with one hand (or two) independently. I've never played a Wii game before.
I'm doing a lot of ps2 and under emulation and had to skip motion controller-dependent games for that reason, other than the fact I don't own a motion-sensitive controller, lol.

Issalright
It feels very experimental- not very polished but has a lot of neat ideas.

Attacking all comes from a ATB-like system. You build charges over time and spend on skills (or spells).
You can equip weapons but they're all of the same type, but you can swap characters who have different weapons types and abilities. I just unlocked the Chef girl who can cook.
You get a bunch of Pikmin-like creatures that can cast elemental magic (like at the start of this vid) to train and level up and swap. They also carry quest items like Pikmin.
Missions tend to be varied. Some require some puzzle solving to access an area, or to make a path to carry the quest item. Some are just plain hunts.

The game isn't refined crack cocaine like Monster Hunter is but it's a neat game if you have the time and patience for something that feels strange and unexplored.

Takes a few minutes to create a suiting controller profile but I think i made a pretty good one for my Xbox pad. Also found you can auto hide the cursor after some sec which is good
>>
speaking of dolphin and controls, why do you have to be a coder to do something as simple as have a game automatically start with a specific profile? why can't dolphin devs figure this shit out? you can start games with their own graphics settings but for some reason not controller settings without reading through all this

>>538724121
>Change Name of Profile to the name of an existing control profile. It requires that you have created and saved a new control profile beforehand in the controller configuration window for the emulated GameCube Controller.

It's just here. All you have to do is create your profile and then copy/paste the name in the proper line in the INI. One minute max to do that.

>In 5.0-8443 and later, you can add a secondary or more profiles, and switch between via hotkey (to be configured under Options > Hotkey Settings > Controller Profile). The first profile will be loaded first upon game launch. The profiles are separated by commas (,) like so: WiimoteProfile1 = Name of Profile, Name of Profile Another, Name of Profile Other.

Even better, you can swamp multiples profile for the Wii. You do not need coding skill for that, just basic reading skill and knowing were your CTRL, C and V keys are on your keyboard.
