After playing Satisfactory once without trains, I played and finished Factorio, and now I started a new Satisfactory run to do a setup with trains.

It's just so tiresome. In Factorio you just do things. In Satisfactory, even with blueprints, it's just so much labor for no reason.
>>
>>545917068
then why are you still doing it
>>
>>545917068
don't play satisfactory
>>
>>545917186
Because I just finished a basic train network and factories that produce copper ingots, iron ingots, plastic and rubber.
I feel like I'm just about to start being able to put down a factory with train inputs and get it up and running relatively quickly.

Maybe I'm just torturing myself.
>>
>>545917374
you are torturing yourself. satisfactory is for mentally deficient "people" (redditors) and masochists. it's made by memetards who, when able to develop a game they actually want to play, develop Goat Simulator 1 & 3. unlike factorio, it's a game that isn't played or wanted by its developers. many such cases!
>>
>>545917374

it has interesting problems but also some parts that just kinda suck
like trying to set up power with solar panels on planet that only give 50 kW each and you only have spidertrons that can barely power a bot and the day is very short so it takes forever to build anything
>>
>>545917572
Wait, it's from the Goat Simulator guys? Lmao didn't know that, this actually explains a lot I guess.
>>
i can understand a lot of things but that unoffensively chubby woman engineer model really weirds me out
>>
>>545915439

hehehe
>>
>>545917068
And this is why you don't play Satisfactory.
Satisfactory is to Factorio as The Sims is to Sim City.
>>
>>545918338
>Satisfactory is to Factorio as The Sims is to Sim City.
whoa
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bO6PqquBek
>>
>>545917898
It's not specifically from the Goat Simulator guys - that's from a different studio under the same publisher, afaik.
>>
>>545918527
no.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coffee_Stain_Studios?useskin=vector
Games developed:
2014 Goat Simulator
2019 Satisfactory (early access)
but I guess it was actually Goat Simulator 3 that was developed by a different studio, Coffee Stain North, which had previously done DLC for Goat Simulator.
>>
>>545918482
Did that blow your mind?
Think about it though.

Factorio is at the planetary scale. You build production lines containing hundreds of factories and have many dozens if not hundreds of trains running continuously to feed it all.

Satisfactory is at the scale of a single island. You build production lines containing tens to, maybe - if you go to actual ludicrous 'let's process all the ore in the world in one central spot'-levels of insanity - hundreds of factory buildings in a production line. And you'll have a few dozen trains running around incidentally to feed it. (Most will actually be parked and waiting because Satisfactory's train handling is absolutely fucked and incapable of transcending basic site-to-site.)

Factorio is about solving logistics puzzles and laying out factory lines that take N in and produce M out. No matter if they're ugly - they get the job done. But mostly, it all follows regular repeatable patterns that you can stamp down repeatable using easily tiled blueprints.

Satisfactory is mainly about creating pretty buildings hand by hand, brick by brick to wrap your assembly lines into neat looking decorum.

The parallel to The Sims and Sim City is right there, staring you in the face.
>>
>>545919371
yeah it's pretty apt.
>>
>>545918852
Aha. That explains. I'd seen CS North credited for the main GS title itself as well.
>>

>>
>>545921976
i had a few before i went bald
>>
>>545921976
Because logistics, puzzles, and problem solving is logical. Duh.
>>
>>545921976
It only qualifies as a puzzle if there's a solution.
>>
>>545921384
yea, i realize now that i could design a factorio blueprint that's functionally equivalent of my end-game satisfactory base in probably less than 30 minutes. this is no exaggeration, 95% of the time in satisfactory is spent on running around and aligning buildings over and over again like a retard instead of actually solving logistical puzzles. this absolute lack of building QoL is the only reason why the game takes >80h to beat, when the entire processing chain is actually barely more complex than factorio's yellow science.
>>
>>545922291
Just wear that bald head with confidence instead of trying to hide it or, even worse, comb it over and you're fine, anon.

They've added snaping auto-connect for railways, belts, and pipes. It helps a bit. Unfortunately, in the process they also broke some other things. And anything you might've saved in the ways of blueprinted railroad systems needs to be deleted and redone, because the rail curvature has changed with that same update.

So Stationeers, following the 2 blocks wide corridor I've placed this early base that respects the rough layout and gives us the tools to keep on building. Cooling with the 3 daisy chained AC as until proven otherwise that works fine. Some space for fabricators and the starting solar and an airlock. We should aim to mass produce steel asap to make walls and frames. as they are cheaper than iron (and look better). I don't know how much we'll be able to pull tomorrow but this much is probably doable. Might need to plan a bit further ahead.

How do you want to split the rooms tho? I'd imagine something like:
-Habitat
-Smelting
-Crafting
-Farm
-Trading
-Power
-Atmo
that's an odd number of rooms tho idk if I missed something or if power or trading are not needed. Smelting needs both zucc and pressurized rooms (zucc the arc smelter, then have gas heated by sun radiation through glass to keep the furnace hot?) so I dont think it's a good idea to put that in the same room as the manufacturing.
We'll need to plan a full pipe system to make sure the stuff goes where it needs. Also need to plan on higher than ground level frames for possible sat dish and why not turbines. For pipe we probably want a main waste and oxygen lines so we can refill/fart at multiple places. Will also need to program vents to balance the gases in breathable atmo
Also what would the room size be, anon proposed at least 4x4 and because of ratio i see either 4x4 or 4x6. I think some rooms dont need an atmosphere either, so those could have a single door once the main corridor is in vacoom

i needed to put 2 elf modules in tons of things
module inserter is good at filling things but not doing a specific configuration
i did one and copied and pasted it
fucked up the orientation of somethings though because i wasn't paying attention
suddenly lots of stuff missing fluids or putting it in the wrong pipe
big nightmare trying to figure out which pipe is the real one for each thing
i wish you could paint pipes a color so it was as easy to tell what should be in it when it is empty
also why the fuck is there not a good way to insert modules even with a mod?

it seems to me that if you dump all fuels into a sushi pipe with overflow valves, it's as if the "switching of fuel" itself causes machines to not actually perform work on a rare occasion, but still always report that they are working, so you'll never see a machine say "need fuel" but you'll also see a 5% hit to productivity that can't be explained otherwise (if your sushi pipe is switching extremely rapidly, maybe 10 times a second)
the trick seems to be to have every fuel on its own pipe with a tank as a buffer, then a pump from each fuel pipe to the sushi pipe that triggers if the fuel pipe goes above 80% and stay on until it drops below 20%
this appears to causs the fuels to build up and then go into the sushi pipe in "slower turns", causing fewer fuel switching ticks and removing the mysterious productivity loss
>>
why can't you just mix all the fuels together into a slop with the output amount depending on the input fuel value
>>
>>545983884
i can only wonder how much more anal py was during the dark ages of no sushi pipes
>>
Is there a way for my cargo ships to only be loaded with the freshest stuff from Gleba
>>
>>545984231
>no sushi pipes
how does that work?
there's no real "sushi pipe" mechanic as far as i know, it's just that if you push two fuels into one pipeline, one will "claim" it first, get consumed, then the other one will
it's more like "queueing" fluids into a pipe, except it's not intuitive which fluids will go into the pipe in which order

Ive tried something with atmos. I'm not convinced, i think this is energy inefficient. I also need to understand/find a better way how to deal with hot gas to be purged. It would be better to not mix hot and cold at all but I dont know how to do that. As a comparison the single AC in the back went from 127°C to 70°C while heating the gas from 127°C to 185°C, I stopped it there at a temperature differential efficiency of 7%. One AC consumes 10W while the valves each go for 100W, so using the 3 daisy chained AC is still 1/10 of using the 3 pressure valves I have in this setting. Could probably even daisy chain 4 or 5, but I don't know if it's worth it. Maybe have an extra stage to go down from higher temps so that it would still have some efficiency at day? Or instead of having open radiatiors we have a vent pumping fresh air at night and purging it out during the day, tho i'm again on the problem of how to not mix hot and cold and the solution i have is just purge the hot out

Since the session starts at sunset we should split and have a few of us go mine right away while maybe 2 of you build the starter shelter following those dimensions, then when the day comes we need to be at least in vacuum to avoid using our oxygen. Waste filtration should come first followed by smelting filtration (recover oxygen from gold but also 0°C gases) and then cooling. Need to make steel asap so have to mine lots of iron, at least one stack of coal and some oxidizers like gold lead and silver

I should just link nuclear reactor inserters to a single reactor and have all the inserters work off of the temperature of just one of them, right? Otherwise they will be out of synch and I'd lose the adjacent active reactor bonus.

there's 2 space rows and 3 space rows
3 space rows exist because of beacon size
2 space rows exist because otherwise i'd just be wasting a bunch of space for no reason
pipeline and belt spacing is because there's a "method' to how i build these things otherwise trying to spaghetti it gets out of hand quickly
the methods leave a lot of flexibility and room for error and eventual unavoidable later spaghetti incursions

In general, a 2-legged vertical posture with at least one knee joint, flat-bottomed feet with ankle joint, hips and spine to balance etc. are just a good flexible way to get around. The main two problems with giving robots legs are a) acceleration, and b) balance. Both of these are possible, just difficult to program on a platform that's not been evolving towards it for upwards of a billion years.
Wheel are nice and all, but nature doesn't have a very high percentage of flat debris-less ground to work with.

Anyone else thinking that Dosh cheated by playing the last version that actually has some QoL?
>>
I don't think anyone thinks that
even you, because your post is empirical evidence of your lack of thinking

"cheating" is a banned word in this thread. And ironic shitposting is still shitposting, and hasn't been funny in five years.

Yeah all that complaining about qol made me cringe every time

I never got to use the jetpack because I got my taste of the game before it was added but I can't really see how it would fix the primary annoyances of FPS item placement.

probably 50% of that video was dosh placing pipe, which is good television because with it sped up in that way it's a lot of movement and has that kinda satisfying "watch the bits fit together" feel but I also feel like laying pipe is actually 50% of the runtime of the game. You can know exactly how you want something to flow but it'll take you a long time to actually tell the game to make it happen. Whereas with Factorio you very quickly learn how to force-multiply your item placements through copy-paste duplication.

Back in my days we didn't have any fancy conveyor lifts and had to go vertical using big retarded spirals.

>would you say is the most complicated process the mod adds
>implying there is more than one process
you will soon realize that there is no individual processes, it is all an obscenely rotund singular process all intermingling and co-dependent on everything else.
the more efficient you strive to be, the more interdependent it becomes
