I feel like Engages writers misunderstood how boring it actually becomes to read. It’s just an absolute slog. 3H doesn’t get a free pass from me but at least when it was boring it had something to say. Like if you read the boring library books it gives you background with Fodlans history and how much is manipulated. Ive seen people comparing Engages writing to AI chats. This is right because AI is like a glorified sentence autocomplete. Engage is indeed like this. After the first rings are lost you enter 60 hours of throwback gaidens, hollow Somniel interactions, topped off with story chapters lingering on a few plot points - the remaining rings and the Hounds. This is the majority of the dialogue for a game that has more dialogue than the entirety of FE6-10. It’s like the opposite of the classics that had a character speak a few lines and be important in one or two chapters. It’s the anti-Fire Emblem. No wonder people rejected it. In retrospect it really is more Persona, aiming for a long quest where it’s super hilarious and fun to hang out with these guys. And not even succeeding.

I've always had this problem (with other strategy games and chess too) where I have trouble sorting out what the relevant information is at any given turn/time. I know on the highest difficulty and challenge runs you actually do have to get heavily mathematical and factor in every small detail and stat point and bonus every turn, possibly having to spend a ton of time on a single turn/hours on a chapter.
