Every instance of us seeing Kris doing the zombie walk is right after some strenuous activity. And maybe he had a similar kind of shamble when talking to Noelle about Berdly. The one time we see Kris acting "fine" without the soul is in the morning, at Noelle's house, where nothing really stressful is going on (aside from maybe the need to maintain the facade to Susie about the knight)I just personally don't like the idea that Kris is faking the zombie shamble and that he's totally fine without the soul, it would make those scenes lose all weight.
